  1. Great machine if you can’t afford to spend thousands on a leather sewing machine. I’m starting nursing school and won’t have the time for it and I need money. https://redding.craigslist.org/for/d/igo-pfaff-545-walking-foot-industrial/7216319921.html
  2. make / manufacturer: Pfaff model name / number: 545 Industrial sewing machine for sale PFAFF 545 with new servo motor for SALE Craigslist add has pics and details. https://redding.craigslist.org/for/d/igo-pfaff-545-walking-foot-industrial/7216319921.html I bought this in the hopes of taking my leather working game up another notch, but I just got into nursing school and won’t have the time for it. Plus I need the money for school. I researched this a ton before purchasing it. It’s a beautiful sturdy old machine made in Germany and very well built. I updated it with a servo motor by Reliable, the Sewquiet 6000sm, which costs about 190$. This motor is well reviewed and the company gets great reviews as well, if you ever have any difficulties with it. I still have the clutch motor available also, the installation is very simple. I bought the machine and table from a store in San Francisco that was going out of business. They were using it to make canvas and leather bags. 1,400$ and I’ll deliver it anywhere in southern Oregon to the Bay Area. If you want it delivered then there’s a 500$ deposit with the rest payable on delivery. Or 1,215$ and you’ve got to come pick it up yourself with someone to help move it. It’s pretty heavy. I live near Redding. You should have some familiarity with this machine, I won’t be able to show you much about it as I just got it and haven’t had time to get to know it well. Lots of YouTube videos available. I’m not trying to make money on it, I’m just trying to get back the money I’ve put into it. So no lowballing please.
  3. $ 600. For sale is this Ferdco 6/6 Heavy Leather Stitcher. This machines has been cleaned, refurbished and tested. It is stitching straight & tight stitches. It has both a hand operation mode and a powered operation mode. Capable of stitching up to 1" of veg tan, it's perfect harness, tack and holsters. Cash Only, no warranty provided. Just want it out of my way. Machine is very heavy. You will need a truck to move it. If you're looking for a heavy leather stitcher under $1000, this is it. Don't pass it up. I'm in Dallas, and will not ship.
  4. Hey guys! I’ve got another few questions for you. Last post I did I was asking about buying the Juki lu 563. I picked it up and got a new servo motor for it. So I tried sewing so,e projects but the stitching wasn’t turning out the was I though. Yes I’m new at this so it most likely is my shakey hands that are messing everything up but I still wanted to check the machine over to make sure everything is turned. My biggest issue is the stitch length isn’t set properly. I can only get 5per inch or like 12 per inch. Also when I reverse stitch, it does it in much smaller lengths and puts even more holes in my leather. I followed the video in all of the adjustments but I couldn’t get it to work much better. This is leads me to my questions. How would I adjust the switch length? (When I set it to 4 per inch it doesn’t currently do 4 per inch. More like 5 or 6) how can I adjust the reverse stitch length. Is it normal for my dogging foot to be rubbing abit against the plate under the presser foot? thanks for your help in advance. P.s. I wrote this late at nigh off of little sleep, hope it makes sense.
  5. An introduction to the art of bridlemaking, featuring over 200 photographs as well as diagrams. This book covers: tools and materials; cutting, preparing, stitching and finishing leather; different styles of bridles; size tables; headcollars, martingales, breaking and schooling aids, girths, stirrup leathers, accessories; and glossary of terms 270 pages $125 US —Plus Shipping
  6. I just bought a brand new Consew 206RB-5 and everything works fine until I backstitch. The stitches indicate tight bobbin tension/ loose upper thread tension, but it looks fine going forward. I'm afraid the items I make will pull out over time because the stitches are so loose. Does anyone know what this could be caused by, or ways to fix it?
  7. Cobra class 4 premium leather sewing machine for sale. Comes with all the attachments, instructional video, owners manual and three spools of thread. Everything that originally came with the machine comes with it. The sewing machine itself has less than an hours time on it. It's basically brand new. I am selling it because I am moving and slowing down business for the moment. Asking $2400. Contact Colin via phone or text @ 406-249-7686 I am willing to ship. Sewing machine is located in northwest Montana Thanks!
  8. I have an original cast iron Tippman Boss for sale. The machine works perfectly and includes some machine upgrades as well as a selection of spare parts, accessories and supplies. Included with the machine are a material guide, stirrup plate, left, standard and center presser feet, needles and extra bobbins. Don't let anyone mislead you, these machines are neither junk or boat anchors. Set up properly they make a nice top and backside stitch as evidenced by pictures posted on this site by people who have taken the time to learn how to use them. I have posted front and back pictures of a multi tool sheath that I stitched with this machine as an indication of what it will do when properly set up and used. Price: $1000.00
  9. Last weekend i found in a junkyard a pretty pack of sewing machines. After half hour of negotiation I bought it for 140$. The pack includes four singer sewing machines (two 18-2, one 29k1 and one 108w20) one divider and one cutter for soles. Except the 29k1 and a 18-2 all the rest in working condition with a good cleaning. I search in ismacs page for serial numbers and I can´t find the 108w20 number (W585470), in fact, I can´t find a W serie. Someone knows an explanation for this?
  10. I am a hobbiest looking for a Tippman Boss or other machine capable of sewing up to 3/4" without marking up the leather
  11. For the HAND SEWING LEATHER WORKERS out there- <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1WOKsT64yEA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> This "How To" video was made for my buddy in Balian. This video includes how to begin stitching with the sewing awl, finish the seam, splice in longer thread, replace your bobbin, and replace the needle. So glad to share this with other handy people in the How To World. The sewing awl is an amazing tool. For the past 6 years, it has been a fruitful partner. This method is THREE TIMES FASTER than sewing with a single needle and thread. The sewing machine is great for leather, but sometimes it just can't handle seams that refuse to lay flat. As a general rule, if you can use a sewing machine- do. When you can't, the sewing awl is a versatile and efficient option. The best sewing awl I've found yet, is the one sold through "Tandy Leather Factory." If you don't have one of these Tandy shops in your city, it's easy to purchase through Amazon, Ebay, or Tandyleatherfactory.com. Expect to pay between 14-18$ for the tool. Buy "waxed poly sewing awl thread" to go with it. A big spool of waxed poly thread ranges from 6-20$ - Sold at the same online locations. Links provided below. Try to avoid buying a sewing awl with a hidden bobbin- like the "Speedy Stitcher"- this sewing awl is no good because you can't rewind the thread, and controlling the thread tension is much harder. While you're at it- order a replacement needle for when it does break. Because it will break. That needle is another 3$ well worth it. Your future self with thank you. Get a "size 8" needle. That is what you see here in the video. "Size 5" is smaller, but the sewing awl thread feels too big for it (sometimes when pulling the needle out, the needle will get stuck.) The instructions one the back of the sewing awl will leave you wanting. No, no, there is no instruction booklet that fell out. "Surely this can't be it" - you will think. Worry not, dear friend. Here is all you need to get your leather project underway. Important note: the rubber mat you see here allows the needle point to stay sharp, and reduce the risk of snapping your needle or stabbing your leg. I highly recommend getting a rubber mat. But if you are cheap, an old yoga mat folded in half will be fine. This tutorial comes from the leather design studio of Ahni Radvanyi. (Check out the shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/ahniradvanyi, and the most recent collection at http://ahnigear.com/) --Tandy Leather Factory.com Sewing Awl: http://www.tandyleather.com/en/product/sewing-awl-kit --Amazon.com tandy sewing awl: http://www.amazon.com/Tandy-Leather-Factory-Stitch-Sewing/dp/B00A2C8M6K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450413240&sr=8-1&keywords=sewing+awl+tool

  13. I found a Juki LU-563 with table - in working condition (so he said - I haven't seen it in person yet - just photo) asking price is 800.00 - is that fair? I was hoping to pay around 500.00 but knowing nothing about these Looking to sew leather belts; leashes; heavy duty vests etc., Looking for some guidance. thanks!!
  14. OK I bought the machine from an older gentleman that worked a lot in car upholstery. Thinking I could potentially use it for holsters. I had the machine serviced at industrial sew tec in cincy. He put a new motor on and went over the whole machine, said it was in very nice shape and hadn't been used much. Knowing nothing about a machine myself I wanted to consult a professional. Well when it came to sewing my holsters it would go through both pieces but would skip a stitch here and there. When using one piece of 9-10 oz. It sewed through flawlessly. It would be a great machine for either an upholster or someone doing light leather garments or wallets. I am looking to get what I have invested which is $600 I prefer pick up I live between Dayton and Cincinnati Ohio but am willing to ship if you pay freight I may move a little on my price but sew-tech said they would ask 1000 for the machine after they serviced it and put on the new motor anyway if interested please message me and I will answer any question I can I can also send pics via email or text thanks for looking
  15. I am in search of a used Tippmann Boss. My husband has wanted one for years and it's always been put on the back burner. I am in Wisconsin, but willing to travel to my surrounding states to pick it up. I would rather not buy through mail if I can get away with it. I am looking for an older heavier model. I could buy the new one (I think it's on sale for 1195 right now, but he likes the heavier ones from a while back...) but I won't be too picky if you have a newer one either. I am looking to make the purchase before Christmas!!!! I am craigslisted out! Please help! Reply here or email (leodknight@aol.com).
  16. What can I say about something this beautiful? I'll let the pictures talk! Cheryl
