  1. A good electrician friend of mine helped me get my workshop wired and powerd up. So i wanted to give him a custom leather piece for helping me. I usually do gun leather, belts and bags so the tool pouch was a fun different project. I do alot of stamping but have only done a few carving pieces. The reddy kilowatt character on the small front pocket on this pouch is by far the hardest carving ive done to date. I hope the leather family here enjoys.
  2. Hi everyone, I am looking for a supplier for scalloped trim for chaps and purses. With and without dots. Also, leather fringe would be good too. Not Swede, I have that. Any supplies out there for these? I am in Arizona.

I have thought of it and would like to try that path. I can’t seem to find anywhere how to get a company name. Like would I need to license the name? im a newbie here so any information to start up would help greatly!

  16. Hi everyone! I'm Micaela, also known in internet circles as Dia or Crystallink. I am very much a newcomer to the world of leathercraft, having only been tinkering with the medium for a few months. I am mainly a character artist/illustrator, but I also love dabbling in other crafts and mediums (watercolor painting and making, hand sewing, a bit of knitting, clay sculpting and even some doll customization). Leathercraft was one thing I at first hesitated to get into because of how expensive it can get. But I was also drawn to how versatile the medium is, and all the beautiful items I've seen people made. After buying my first box of scrap leather and tinkering with it with my beginner tool set for a good while, I think I can safely say that I want to hone my skills and work my way up to doing larger projects. So far I've been starting out with rings, since they are the smallest and most simple thing I found I could tinker with without feeling bad about wasting large amounts of leather, and I discovered they're way more comfortable for me to wear than metal rings. I ended up going a bit crazy and creating a lot of them. I decided to sell most of them on my Ko-fi shop, so you can take a peek there to see what I've done so far: https://ko-fi.com/crystallink/shop If you're interested in my digital illustration, please check out my portfolio! (I'm a freelancer, so if anyone needs a mascot or a character based logo for thier business, or artwork for personal uses, I'd be interested in working with you!) https://crystallinkcreations.com Recently I've decided to step things up and try making a bracelet. This is my first one. It was done a bit hastily, so I know the crafstmanship looks a bit crappy. I'm hoping to better hone my skills and make these look more professional!

  18. Hello everyone. It never occured to me to look for a dedicated online forum when I first started out on this little adventure. My story starts the same way many of your do too - A couple of years ago, I was in need of a new belt. I was usually content with the store-bought belts that I had been wearing all my life until I saw a guy with a genuine veg tan leather belt and asked him about it. I told my brother about what I had seen and the conversation that ensued, a week later a beginners leatherworking tool kit arrived with a dozen belt blanks and a note from my brother telling me to have at it and see what I could do. Those first few belts were a disaster; horrible dye jobs. The edges were nowhere near nice enough to show anyone. I rushed through the first batch rather than taking my time to get them right. I have since slowed down. Each step it taken with care. As my skills improved, so have my tools. My most recent project is a new wristband for my watch as they don't make them long enough to go around my wrists.
  19. I have a ton of very small leather scraps that can't really be used for anything. Is there such thing as a leather recycling center? It feels like such a waste to just throw it all away!
  20. Hey' all My name is Nelson Agaba from Uganda. I am new to this community. I am a leather expert with 10+years experience in leather tanning and tannery operations. I have always loved leather crafting and I have just ventured into small leather goods manufacturing and footwear making. I want to seek all help and assistance from experts in ladies sandal making, wallets, belts and leather bags. I have 2 post beds, and a skiving machine and all the necessary hand tools but no experience in this. Any help (videos, patterns, etc to help me get started) will be highly appreciated. Thanks all.
  21. Hello everyone! I am in search of a pattern for a quick draw knife pattern. Anyone help is appreciated. Thanks for the post!
  22. This booklet is a small soft cover one with patterns for several animals made from leather. I had this booklet and made the seal and the trotting "race horse with jockey". Both were given to friends over 40 years ago. I want to make the horse again for myself but I can not find it in my stash of patterns. If anyone has this to sell, I am looking to buy it, or, if anyone has the booklet that is willing to make a copy of the horse pieces and pattern instructions for assembly, I would be willing to pay all expenses to have a copy of just the horse section copied and mailed to me. Heck, I'd even pay extra, within reason. PLEASE?????? Thanks for reading.....
  23. I'm pretty new to sewing. I have a consew 206RB in very good shape. The main purpose for me getting into the field is for shoe making. Before anybody goes there, I am aware that a post roller foot is the best machine for such work, but I didn't have post bed money. I bought a good machine that I could afford. I also plan to venture to other things which will require a flat bed. Anyways, the foot marks my leather. I have already read the manual and loosened the screw at the very top to relieve some pressure, which did help. But I was told that there is a screw to loosen for the outer foot and inner foot, and since I'm a rookie I really don't know which one I loosened. It's the inner or "walking foot" that leaves marks, they can easily be rubbed out of suede, but not leather. Anybody have some suggestions?? Even on tools that can rub marks out? Also, if you're interested in this machine shoot me a pm. If I can't figure out how to get this to stop marking my leather I MAY be looking to sell it to buy a machine that can. Located in Ohio. Thanks!!
  24. Hi, I work for a company outside of the US that manufactures products that are made from leather. Up until now we used to by the processed leather after it was dyed and now we are looking into doing the process in house . We have tried a few ways of dying the skin black and met with companies in Europe but didnt reach the result we were looking for. We were told that there is alot of companies in the US the specializes in these kind of things and have a lot of knowledge. Since we are a big company we are looking to work and purchase on a large scale once we find the right company to work with. If anyone has any insight on this topic or know any good companies in the state that specializes in this that we can meet with, I would really appreciate it if they could send me in the right direction. Thanks!
  25. I am looking at the different types of foil, hot stamping machines out there. I have a client that wants a gold foil stamp for logos and I.D. Tags. I've seen different techniques with different tools and machinery. What is the best? Any ideas? Thanks for reading my post
