Hi Everyone, I am pretty new to this and still learning tricks of the trade, honestly the reason I got into it was all because I was searching for a pair of nice pair of soft sole moccasins and couldn’t find ones I like so, I decided I would make my own. My first attempt honestly did not go well I learned a lot about what not to do and things I can do differently second pair was made from pieces of suede I found at hobby lobby, I can’t count how many times I stitched ,unstitched ,modified my pattern and did it again, after about 2 weeks of working on them on and off I was finally done, and I’m pretty sure I work them consistently the entirety of the whole COVID lockdown, my next few pairs were for my girlfriend and at the time 2 children. After wearing them around for sometime people started to show some interest in them and I had a few requests for some custom designs ( side note, I don’t know about you guys but the moment you hand the finished product to the customer is absolutely terrifying, but seeing the reactions when they saw them and put them on was one of the coolest feelings I have ever felt, since then I haven’t had a lot of time but I managed to make a few other pairs I still need to post on to my Reddit which I will link my forum because I have no idea how to get pictures on here haha but any input or advice would be gratefully appreciated, thanks for reading! https://www.reddit.com/r/BessMoccasins/

Firs attempt at these, next project are Mukluk's so was essential to get some practice. Made from Bovine,coated in Mink oil. Bison will be use for my next project. Added a second piece for the sole to add to durability. First test walk I found the heal needed to be thicker, gonna put some crepe rubber on their so it lasts, just have to shave the base so glue sticks. It was a learn as you go experience.

Hi! Im new to this world. Been spending a week watching videos so got some of the basics but no practice yet, got some of the tools yesterday in the mail just waiting for the Pricking Iron (probably will take a while, guessing its coming from Asia). I bought the Tandy Moccasin kit for the pattern and the Plains Boot Moccasin pattern, Shoes is what I want to get into and will do a belt pouch next. I bought a sheet of Leather from Tandy, 1.5mm, marked down, pre-finished I think its called (see pic) to make my boots but found out not heavy enough according to the PBM pack instructions, so I bought some Thermal Boot inserts to use for them. I dont want to spend a bunch of money on leather untill I know what Im doing. I also bought a role of Leather lace to be used instead of the cord that came with the Moccasin kit. The Shoes I can start on now, except whats stopping me is that I want to use them outside for walks so I want to apply Crepe Rubber to them (Tandy) I have 3 and 6 mm, problem is I have found no video/instructions on apply them were they wrap up the sides a bit. The basic video Ive seen just cuts a sole size and slaps it on the base, I want about a 1" rise to protect the shoes from moisture etc, so Im hopping some one can help me with that. Im concerned that when folding the front and heal up then crimping will happen. Im guessing its better to apply the rubber, on flat then build the Moccasin. The next concern is the leather that Tandy used does not feel that strong (not knowing anything about leather), so I was wondering if it would be wise to layer the leather I bought on it first, it has a much denser feel to it. I have this pattern I originally got from a popular store, ans I am trying to make it bigger. It is a mocassin pattern for newborn, and I am trying to make bigger ...size 6 infant, the baby is a year old and his foot is a'' little shy from 5 ''. I have looked for normalised charts on the net .. but nothing conclusive, or no US sizes... Would anyone know how to do this properly ? or maybe a chart of somekind or else ??? THis client on my site bought from me a pair when her baby was born last year, now she wants a pair for his first birthday, and she hopes I can make them as he grows up; !!! thank you all !!! Well here are some pictures of stuff I did 30 years ago. They are pictures of pictures. So because of the glossy finish, with the front view of the black vest there looks like a red streak but isn't. The clock looks tilted and isn't.
