  1. A little fancy for what is essentially a souped-up dirt bike, but with no horse and therefore no need for a saddle - you gotta make do!
  2. this Tool Bag I made for my husband´s birthday, he's so happy and proud. Do not look too closely, I have made many mistakes by the cut´s, but I will lern to do it better
  3. I bought a side of oil tanned motorcycle bag leather from Springfield, and was wondering what the best way to finish it is. The first piece I will be making is a fork bag for a friend.
  4. Just another unique little thing resulting from my never-ending pursuit to customize my motorcycle. This piece wasn't dyed, rather I sunburned it. I sprayed a fine mist on it and left it in the sun which resulted in the speckling that you can see on it.
  5. Hello all leather people. i am looking for where i can get a basic pattern for making a motorcycle jacket, or is it possibe to use a basic shirt pattern to make a one. i need your advice. Thank You.
  6. Hi this is my first complete project. Well, kind of complete, because it's a set of 2 and I'm still finishing the other side up. I made these for my buddy's 100th anniversary Fatboy as a Christmas present. He said he wanted a different kind of shape to fit the lines of the bike better. I've custom painted a lot of bikes, but never made bags for any. My dad was a master at tooling leather, so I thought with a little advice from him and my expertise in packaging design, it was possible. Obviously I had no idea on the amount of work involved. My friends wife bought all the leather. I did all the work. That was the deal. They loved the end result and I think it turned out pretty good for a first try. Obviously its not as clean as a lot of work I've seen on here. But I learned a lot from the hours and hours I've spent, reading everybody posts and looking at everybody's work here. So thanks. A Lot. Again, it's my first try at making anything out of leather and I know I made a lot of mistakes, but I learned a lot and I think the next set will be much better.
  7. As my first post here, I wanted to show something I did for a commission just recently. I'm in the process of making several more just like these, and hopefully each will be better than the last. A co-worker has seen some of my past work, and wanted to know if I could make him a holster for his phone. He wanted a secure leather loop he could use while riding. Fast-forward a week or so and I had completed a working prototype to show him. This was made to fit my phone, an iPhone 5, which was a little taller than his. After some discussion, we settled on a design and I got to work. The finished product is more of a wallet that holds a phone, as it has a front pocket to hold several cards. I made it adjustable and dyed it a very dark brown, hard to see since I had just treated it with mink oil. This was my first time setting letters too, so after a few practice runs I *still* managed to get them slightly off. Although it has a few finish issues for my taste, he liked the "rough around the edges" look and is talking about commissioning me for more projects. Here's the finished product: I'm still learning but he seemed happy with it, which is all that matters to me. Thanks for looking and offering your suggestions!
  8. I came very close to finishing my first real leather project. I made a cell phone case from a Tandy kit and a pocket holster for my Taurus .380, but this is my first taking it from a piece of veg tan to a darn near finished project. Gave my best shot at tooling the eagle and flag and I got along pretty well at doing the lacing. I believe it's a Mexican Round Braid. Mixed a couple of brown dyes because I didn't have enough of either color to do it alone. I put a coat of olive oil on the whole thing before I stained it to avoid having oil spots because while I was braiding I spilled oil on it while lubing up my lace. Anyway...after applying a couple of coats of SuperSheen I attached 4 magnetic snaps for a removable pouch to be made later. Put it on my 2004 Kawasaki Nomad on Sunday and proceeded to total my bike on Thursday. Probably wont get another Nomad, even though I loved the bike. Just going to try something different because I can.
  9. This mask was made for a client's former boss that rides and builds bobbers. His bike's name is "Rusty Mermaid" & has engraved scales on the tank. Here's the finsihed product of the "Rusty Mermaid" motorcycle mask.
  10. Just finished this fender for a buddy of mine that is building a one-off Harley bobber.
  11. This is my second attempt at this logo and about the 4th piece that I have tooled. It is tons better than my first try. Now I'm trying to decide how to embellish it further. I have no particular plans for this, except to come up with a design to eventually use in a seat. http://leatherworker.net/forum/uploads/gallery/album_2280/gallery_50836_2280_27006.jpg
  12. Here are the leather items I made for my husbands HD Roadking. The windshield bag and tank bib/bag have been on the bike for two years. The saddlebag toppers and propad passenger seat cover have been on for a year. They are holding up well in spite of getting wet quite a few times. I have meant to post these for some time.
  13. I've been trolling around in the shoe forum. Wow, there is a lot more to making shoes than I might of thought. I was curious, has anyone made lace up motorcycle boots? I'd love to see a picture of some. I've read through a lot of the topics, but haven't seen anything like that. I can't wrap my head around how you make the top of the boot, when the last is only the foot? How would you attach a rubber sole?
  14. Made this holster for a friend in Alabama. Just got pictures of the final product, Super happy about the way it turned out.
  15. A friend in Alabama commissioned me to make a holster for his Springfield loaded that would mount to the rigid strut on his Harley Sportster. He also said I had creative control and could do whatever I thought would work/look good. I didn't have the weapon or the bike handy to work from (so imagine how pleased I was to see that it turned out good). Istre is his name (French Cajun), Saints fan, lives in Mobile. The state motto is carved in (Audemus jura nostra defendere = We dare defend our rights). The shape of the state is stitched in. The holster is removable (for those days when you need/want that sort of accessory). The frame is 1x 1/8th steel, with bar clamps to fit the 1-1/8th in risers. I think it turned out pretty nice, and He loves it. thanks for looking, enjoy. Murray
  16. 2001 Road King seat complete (finally). Design partially based on family crest. All comments welcome. Thanks for looking!
  17. Seat finally complete. About 15-20 hours of lacing. Designed off my last name and family crest. All comments welcome. Thanks for looking. There is some amazing work being posted lately! Good job by all.
  18. These are some of the pieces we have created...please feel free to visit us on facebook, or browse through our Gallery of Custom Leatherwork on our website. Hope you enjoy! Please contact us for any other information!
  19. Just finished a set of saddlebags as a Christmas pressie for my brother who just started riding this year. Learned a lot of lessons about wax waterproofing and edge finishing. Also learned not to use Eco-Flow one step on large surfaces; could not get an even coat, so there are way more streaks and splotches than I would like.
  20. This is a Nacelle cover & set of Driving Light protectors for a Harley Davidson Road King
  21. From the album: Three Mutts Customs pics

Flying Eagle with Olive branch & American Flag, tooled onto 6oz. Hermann Oak and painted with Citadel & Golden Fluid acrylic paints. This is the main image on a motorcycle whaletail tank bib I recently finished.
