I made this notebook cover for my local cattle farmer I deal with. He had worn out one from a maker from somewhere out west from years ago, he was very happy to get another one. The lighting was different when I took the second photo but the first one is the correct color of stain. -

I just got some edge paint from Giardini (Italy). Until now I have used Fiebings Egde coat, but I never seemed to get any good results with it. Here's my first items using the Semi Dense tan color. Two coats, each of them sanded. Then a coat of protecting gloss. All is sealed together with a final coat of buffed beeswax. The edge feels a lot smoother than anything I have achieved before, but I still feel there's a way to go to get it even and without bubbles/cracks. Interested in hearing other tips about egde finishing. I do like a burnished egde, but the painted does look appealing to me as well. Happy to hear your inputs! -
Finished this one up today, not my best work, had lots of things I wasn't happy with. This is version 2, Version 3 is slated for an IPad cover for a customer, so I wanted to get some practice in to perfect things a bit. Version 1 never even got to the dye stage. Oye. My first Canadian project,I wannted to do something like this long time ago,but never had the time,since we moved to vancouver I do have time and find myself in need of writing things (phone numbers, emails, directions and ideas for some of my future projects), this is just prototype for me and next one will be little wider and it will have some more stuff, this is to big for back pocket or jeans,this is more for cargo pocket or backpack,and very usefull when traveling because you can carry notebook,pen,phone or passport.

I just recently started working with leather after my wife discovered the Midori Traveler's Notebooks. However, she did not want to order the refills online every time so she wanted to be able to go to a store and get the refill. So I went with the Field Notes or Moleskine 3.5" x 5.5" size. I used 4/5 oz. veggie tan leather for all projects. That being said I have decided to used Milled Veggie Tanned leather on any notebooks in the future because the leather became very stiff after staining, even with Neatsfoot oil. I know my saddle stitching and finishing needs work, but we all start somewhere right. -
Here is my first post showing what I put together last night. This is a Horween Chromexcell Moleskine holder with a pen slot and pocket on the front. Would love to hear your thoughts on this. I'm not sure this would be "showing off" after seeing much of the things produced by people in this forum, but here's my latest completed project. My daughters are big Harry Potter fans and I wanted to make them something out of leather for Christmas, as I've just gotten into this and enjoy it immensely. I came across the Midori Traveler's Notebook, which is nothing more than a piece of leather with a couple of elastic cords holding in small paper notebooks and keeping it closed. That led me to other notebook covers people had made and I thought that would make for a nice Christmas present, so I decided to make them Harry Potter themed notebook covers. I ordered a couple of Harry Potter sew-on patches (1 for Gryffindor and 1 for Ravenclaw...they had this "sorting hat" app that tests you and sorts you into your school houses...don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about), and I intended to adhere these patches to the covers. However, once I was done with the notebook covers, I just couldn't do it. They can use these things for almost forever and I didn't want some Harry Potter patch messing up the front. So, we bought a couple of Harry Potter wand pens to go with them and called it good. They're made with thin veg tan leather, stained and lined with suede. -
This is for a 5x7 spiral notebook cover. Standard basketweave, craftaid corners, some custom lettering, and neats-foot for color. I like how the color turned out. Hope it doesnt fade too much. Thanks for looking! Eddie -
Finished up this journal for a client as a gift to her manager at work. I love making these things! Very happy with the colors on this one!

Hi All Have been reasonably successful with A5 notebook covers recently. This is one using a free design I downloaded - so no credit for that! Nothing earth shattering, but trying to build my skills & improve on overall finishing of projects.
