Hello everyone! I'm looking for some input regarding an OWB holster that either clips on or snaps on. The goal is to make it quick to take on and off. The pro's/con's as I see them thus far are: the snap-on is slower on & off but would likely be easier on the garments (belts, pants, etc) whereas the clip-on would be quicker on & off but the metal clip might be harsher on the clothes. I've done a bit of scouring on LW.net on this topic but nothing too specific has turned up. As you can see from my post count, I'm a green-horn "newb" (LOTS of looking/listening/reading, not much talking)...any wisdom to be imparted would be appreciated! Chris
Hermann Oak rubbed with oil, burnished with saddle soap. Tie-down and hammer thong for keeping the weapon safely in place. I really like this one and the hair-on cowhide strap across the front. Very comfy and the leather feels excellent.
My former boss, the Assistant Police Chief of my local PD, just retired after 34 1/2 years on the job. I started on the PD in 1991 after returning from Desert Storm and he was a Captain at that time. I left at the end of 1998, but we have kept in touch through the years. He was probably the person I respected the most in the department and in general. A truly great man and the department will not be the same without him. I know he will enjoy his retirement, so I decided to make him a holster as a retirement gift. He has a .38 Chiefs Special that he dearly loves, so I made him this pancake with his initials on it. We'll see how he likes it tomorrow... I've really got to do something about the lighting for my photo box:)
I dont post much if at all in the show off segment, as I feel, although coming a ways, still quiet an amature and not sure saying show off is what I would call it lol... but this turned out quite nice and I have gotten quite a bit of compliments and looking like other requests. I did not have the weapon for this, but I did have the original holster, so the fit should be decent. this was requested from a co worker to give to his father in law for his birthday on 6/22. after that I will have pics of the gun in the holster. kinda excited to see that.. shoot I forget what kind of gun it was. I really liked the color, had some reaaaal challenges with the lacing. bob
