  1. WE DO SEWING MACHINE REPAIR AND MANITENANCE ON HOME AND INDUSTRIAL SEWING MACHINES IN JONESBORO, ARKANSAS
  2. Hello. I am a newbie to this site, and couldn’t find a thread (lol) about this topic I make heavy duty dog collars and harnesses, mostly using 9/10 oz leather, sometimes as low as 7 oz. I need a good, strong thread that will take some abuse and not stretch out. Most of what I find is thread made for hand sewing - this is for a machine (Master Tools Cub Manual). What do you all use / suggest? It would be nice if I could find something with a good selection of colors. Thank you
  3. This is a barely used midweight to lightweight techsew 2700. Purchased in 2014. It is a walking foot industrial machine with assembled table and servo motor. Very capable up to 3/8” thick leather, heavy fabrics and synthetic materials, 10.5” long cylinder bed, Japanese hook, reverse feed mechanism for backtacking, drop in bobbin case, large custom work bench made specifically to accommodate bag work and upholstery, as well as flat sewing. 1 HP 800W SmartServo motor. This machine has been used to make about 5 bags and is basically brand new. If interested please ask for photos and I can email them directly. Local pick up only. Located in Mid Hudson Valley NY
  4. Great machine if you can’t afford to spend thousands on a leather sewing machine. I’m starting nursing school and won’t have the time for it and I need money. https://redding.craigslist.org/for/d/igo-pfaff-545-walking-foot-industrial/7216319921.html
  5. Luberto Classic Heavy Duty Sewing Machine. My father was a saddle maker and this was his machine. It's heavy cast iron on a wood table top. All one piece. Pedal or manual sewing for controlled stitching. Works perfectly. Very heavy and will need to be picked up from Pioneertown, Ca. (near Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree) I'm sorry I really don't know much about the mechanics of it but I know it works fine and never had any issues. Purchased new in 2008. Asking $5000 obo.
  6. Like New Tippman Boss Stitcher with Oak mounting desk. I am asking $1200 for both or $1000 for machine without desk. Kansas City, MO area.
  7. Quick (and most likely rhetorical) question... When doing a straight line stitch, I get that I want to go back over my starting stitch to lock it in and then again at end. When doing the complete circumference of a piece (like going around a wallet) 360 degrees, do I need to do the same or does overlapping the starting stitch with the end by 2-3 stitches suffice. Thanks // Brian
  8. I make small leather goods such as wallets and journals...have desire to try some belts. Bags would be in distant future maybe... I hand stitch using tiger thread .8mm for my leather goods. Kind of like the heaver thread look. If I add up the oz for a bifold wallet, it could be a thick as 9 to 14 oz of veg tan leather. Time for a sewing machine. Looking at table tops: Consew 206RB-5, Juki1541S Cylinder Arm: Cowboy 3200, CB227R Like most, I can't decide if I really want a flat table machine or a cylinder arm and get the table add on option. One thing that I am 100% is I don't want the machine on a pedestal where I have to sit on a bar stool height chair or stand to operate like I see a lot of the cobra models. I think I will be doing lots of sewing and want to sit down and be comfortable doing so. I have seen some U shaped tables for some of the cylinders that look like a better option for sitting down and sewing. For thread size, I am thinking the thread size I would use would be 92 or 138. Is the CB3200 too large for what I do? Any other cylinders that would be in the price range of these other machines? Any thoughts on these table top machines for what I do.
  9. Puritan needle/awl leather stitcher for sale. I purchased the machine from an auction where a sporting goods manufacturer had gone out of business. The machine had supposedly been in operation prior to their closing. I have not ever had it running as I have just had too many other projects and now having gone through a divorce and downsizing my house I need to purge a lot of these “someday I’ll get to it” projects. As best I can tell it has all its parts and the mechanism all turns freely. I’m not desperate to sell it by any means, so I’m not going to give it away. I’ll find a place to store it myself before I’d do that. What you see is what I have. $1,000 cash only. Serious offers will be considered. Located in Ona, WV in-person pickup is greatly preferred, but I can assist in preparing to ship if necessary and you pay the costs for crating materials. PM or email me at wvmotorider@gmail.com

  11. so first the funny part: on friday was a day to tell the grand children about .. i was at the printers for a magazine we print - and on the way was an old shoemaker who sold some tools and leather — well .... nothing nice there, but in the corner i saw this beautiful pfaff 345 with walking feet and synchronised (!) binder ... „could you use that?“ he asked .... what a question .. after my remark that a tension spring is missing, he came up with even more binding stuff and led me into the backoffice ... „here... do you need that one also?“ — a twin !!! a second pfaff 345 h2 or h3 —/ some thread and a 2 h talk followed ... what a beautiful day!! incredible happy bodo here the sad part; on one machine the hook is broken ... is there any place where i can buy one other than for 200 euros?? and — how to ger that part of of the machine? thx in advance ... cheers bodo
  12. Hello, I have recently picked up a 29k71 (electric but using the hand crank) and I got it sewing cloth, finally. Although when im sewing anything over 1-2 oz veg tanned leather it does not move the leather with the foot. With a little push of the material it feeds kinda alright but if I stop applying pressure its back to not pushing enough and thats not the way its suppose to be so I would like to know whats wrong and get it fixed. I understand that these machines are old (I think mines from '64) and parts wear. Any help would be much appreciated. take care all! happy sewing!
  13. Juki 1508H air powered machine for sale. I bought it from my mentor 7 years ago when I bought out his shop. Frankly, it intimidates me! ...I’m comfortable with my Cobra & that’s all I need. But I’m looking to upgrade to a Cobra Class 4. So this one has to go & then my Class 3 will go. This Juki will go as fast as you want (reason for intimidation)!!! I’m not a super fast stitcher. I prefer slow & steady! I would rather it be picked up as I’m not sure how to go about shipping something like this. Located in So IL. Additional pics available upon request. $2200 OBO Saw a new one online for $3595

  15. I've acquired a Washington State Fur Trapping License and joined a local Fur Trapping group and now have access to local fur. My walking foot sewing machines (Ferdco 206 and Ferdco 1245) are not suitable to edge sew panels of fur together to form clothing or accessories. I've researched specialized chain stitch sewing machines for sewing and would like some comments or suggestions. There seems to be a very limited number of current manufactures and seem to be specialized to specific types of leather fur (coyote, raccoon, etc). Since I am new to this, I would appreciate and experience or places to find more practical sewing machine information.

  21. Hi there, i have recently got got my hands on a singer class 7-5 with no information on it and Only part of the manual. I have managed to get it running and sewing but the bottom thread appears too tight in the stitches and I cannot find a tension screw on or around the bobbin casing to loosen it? Could anyone advise on this ? Machine works beautifully otherwise Thanks in advance

  24. Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using the individual core strands from paracord/550 cord in their stitching? I have saved several thousand feet of the cording due to using the exteriors on other projects (figured I'd find a use sometime). I know that it is individually stronger than other materials so I wouldn't be pulling too tight or using it for weighted areas in order to prevent cutting my hides. I've gone through all 50 pages of sewing posts and couldn't find it mentioned (though I did find the debates about poly/nylon and spectra/dyneema) so I thought I would ask if there were any pro's or con's for leather usage. Thanks everyone!
  25. Little King Goods posted this stitching pony on his IG and had to order one. It came from Korea in about 2 weeks a little pricey for what it is, it is very nice and very portable. I am going to put some leather on the jaws love this design I think I might have to reverse engineer this in walnut or oak.
