Apologies if there is already a topic that consolidates the information about sewing machine manuals (user manuals, user guides, repair guides, engineer guides, etc.) I just purchased a Juki LU-1508N and had a hard time finding an online user manual. Here are what I turned up. I hope the information is helpful to others. Joe ______________________________ * Manual at the Juki website: http://www.juki.co.jp/industrial_e/products_e/alldocument.html * The LU-1508N manual:from the Juki site: http://www.juki.co.jp/industrial_e/download_e/catalog_e/lu1500n.pdf * A site with an "engineer's" version of the Juki LU-1508N manual (for certain other Juki models as well): http://semsi.com.mx/Manuales/JUKI/LU-1500N SEM02_.pdf * A (sewitworks) web page that provides links to the manuals for machines made by various manufacturers (including Juki): http://www.sewitworks.com/manuals/

Hi Everyone, I've been lurking around for a few years now but haven't asked any questions because I've always been able to find a thread with the information I'm looking for. I have found a few threads discussing Singer 45Ks but none specifically about the 45K52. I've been making belts, wallets, gun holsters, card cases, knife sheaths and dog accessories for about 5 years. I feel like it's time to turn my hobby into a business, which is why I bought this machine I picked the machine up over the weekend. The guy who was selling it bought it to fix horse blankets and harnesses but ended up with some health problems and can't operate the machine anymore. I was able to thread it, based on the 45K manual that found on the forum, and run the machine before I bought it. It's obviously an old machine but in great shape and had been recently re-built and tuned by a professional Industrial sewing machine repair man. People in the area swear by this repair man but so far I haven't gotten any response to my phone calls. I'm pretty sure, from my reading, that it should be a decent machine for belts, dog harnesses and leashes, and maybe knife sheaths and gun holsters too. My questions are: Do I actually have it threaded correctly? Depending on the leather I'm putting through it, it sometimes pulls the knots through the bottom or top of the leather. Is this a tension problem? It will only make an actual stitch at the slowest crawl. If it picks up any speed the thread breaks. Could this be a tension problem or something else? How do I set the tension? After looking through the manual that I found here, and then inspecting my machine, I think I'm missing some features that other 45Ks have such as: reverse and adjustable stitch length. Does this machine really not have an adjustment for stitch length? What is the wheel to the lower right, near the belt? Is it a bobbin winder? Finally: what kind of foot does it have and should I get something different? Thanks for all of the information that I have picked up here over the past few years. I hope you all can help me out with some of these questions.

I recently just finished restoring a Singer 31-15 and there's a bracket on the table legs close to the knee lever... Does anyone know what it is for? Also, can anyone tell me what this machine was specifically designed for? Thank you for the help!! -Dani You can see before/after pictures and what I did to make it perfectly functional on my blog: http://theprojectlady.blogspot.com/2016/07/industrial-singer-31-15-sewing-machine_7.html

Hey Crew. I haven't posted a bunch in the last few years, as I had some babies and my life kind of has been pretty busy. I just finished the cleaning and restoration of a Singer 31K15 with table and motor that I am pretty proud of. I reveal a few tips in the blog post as well, so if you want to read as well as look at the pictures, please do. http://www.sooiwasthinking.com/my-blog/we-should-restore-a-singer-31k15-industrial-sewing-machine Ben

Saw it on Craiglist and am wondering about it as a canvas and lining sewing machine for lighter duty materials, maybe some leather. I can't find squat for information on it. Anyone have anything as far as comments or experience with it? http://wyoming.craigslist.org/for/5566153817.html

Well had an impulse buy, picked this little guy up on craigslist for $80. If i remember correctly its a 1946 year 31-15 with the converted treadle table and knee lift. Had apparently been sitting in a room for a long time. I took a gamble and picked it up just upon inspection. Paid off I hope. There are a couple of screws missing which I need to peruse a manual and see if I can find the right ones. Got it cleaned up for the most part and heavily oiled. Gonna get a roller foot kit to put on it so I can sew thin leather like wallet interiors and such. Its a little easier to control then my 211 for small things and I think it looks good to boot. It had enough fuzz inside to make up a couple of dead mice I think. It cleaned up real nice. Pretty sure the original clutch motor is on its way out but still performs ok. Stitches are nice and even.

First of I'm new to the forums, my name is Jordan and I just started getting into leather craft like a month or two ago. I originally wanted to make motorcycle seats but the more I've been messing around I've been wanting to make different things! that being said, I just bought a super clean singer 29-4. I ordered some #69 bonded nylon and it finally came in today. I've been trying to mess around and get the machine to sew in some 2-4oz vegtan single layer but the thread will go in the first hole then just lay across the rest of the holes. I read somewhere that if it does that the tension is too loose, but the shuttle is as tight as it will go and if I tighten the disks anymore the thread stops. But when I try to sew denim it sews almost perfect. Am I missing something??? I'd appreciate any help or info! Thank you!

Looking for some advise on my backup machine. It is a Singer 211G157. My problem is that the wheel will not turn when I push the lock button down to change stitch length. Is it possible that the adjustment plates or spring is froze up on the shaft under the machine? Is there anything I can use to soak the plates and rod to clean them up? The 211G-157 seems to be kind of an odd duck in the Singer line without a lot of information available. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. If worse comes to worse, I have a chance to buy a Pfaff 145-P-6C.

Hello Ladies & Gentlemen! New here but have been following the forum for awhile now learning a wealth of information! Appreciate all the knowledge that has been shared here. I'm hoping someone can chime in and help me understand the issue I am having with my Singer 143W3. When feeding in reverse the stitch length is shorter than feeding forward. Of more interest, when in reverse the material moves away from the operator a small amount before moving towards the operator. On the contrary, when feeding forward the material only moves away from the operator (no back and forth motion as seen when running in reverse.) I have verified that the feed dogs are indeed still moving in the "wrong" direction when they protrude through the throat plate in reverse, of course correcting and proceeding with a normal reverse feed. I have tried playing with the feed dog height to see that was grossly out of spec and causing the issue, but as suspected, it did not effect the issue. I'm not sure what the feed dog timing is supposed to be on the machine, but it appears that the first point in which the feed dogs remain stationary while actuating the reverse lever is when the needle rises 7mm above it's bottom point. Is there an adjustment to reconcile this issue I am having? May this be a clue that something seemingly unrelated is not set correctly? Truly appreciate and help or advice that can be shared! ST

Hello, I am located in central Arkansas and I have a Singer 7-34. This came from a school and is in good shape. It has a table and electric motor but needs a new cord on the motor. I have turned it over by hand and stitched 3 pieces of 8oz leather together and it has nice tight stitches. It has some extra bobbins and an extra hook assembly. I am asking $900.00.

I had a friend call the other day saying that a friend of a friend had a leather sewing machine they are looking to sell because the lady that owned it had past away(its now at the sons house) They said it came from an old saddle shop in Tucson that closed down years ago but the son saids his mom only use it to sew heavy clothes. The son found "o-mo ae206457" on the bottom of the machine. Any info would be great? I've built saddles and all kinds of tack but I've never had a leather sewing machine so I'm a bit lost. Sorry no pictures its a 2hour drive to go look at it.

I have to post this piece of art for a good friend Karen Conover in south central Va. She has no idea that this is being shown. She was handed one piece of black and gold material and asked to creat a piece of fiber art, and that she did, this beautiful Quilt / Wall Hanging sewing machine is amazing! I thought my friends on this board could appreciate it. What a talented artist this lady is... George Doyle Unionlevelleather.com

Hi all, I have an Econosew 360JC Walking Foot machine. I'm looking for smooth bottom walking feet to replace the ridged ones I have. I need to be sure they fit. Is there a universal size, brand, type to order? And where? It seems to be hard for me to find any smooth bottom walking feet that aren't for bonding. I sew leather purses and while most of the stitching is on the interior of the bag and I don't care too much if there's light marking some of my stitching is on the exterior so any marking is a no go. Help?

I just finished up a restoration project I've been working on for several months, rebuilding and repainting a Singer 96-10. I'm in the process of fine-tuning him at the moment, but before I call it good, I want to ask the community a question. For anyone that owns / has used a gear-driven 95 or 96 class, do you notice the whizzing of the gears during use? I didn't actually sew with this guy very much before dissasembly, so I can't recall if I could hear the gears back then. When I was assembling him, I couldn't get sound from the gears to completely disappear. I got it quiet, but when he's running at speed, there's a definite whizzing noise. The teeth on these gears are just straight, not helical or hypoid, so I don't expect the sound to be non-existant... but I'm surprised it's making as much noise as it is. If you don't notice the sound of the gears, there's a couple things I can think of checking: I haven't packed enough grease in the gear boxes they need to be aligned in a specific way, with the correct teeth mating at the right spot they simply haven't been adjusted to quite the right spot. Should anyone have something to say on the matter, I would appreciate it! The results of my work: During reassembly

Hey all! This is my first post here, after searching for similar threads and coming up relatively empty. I just started out as a hobbyist shoemaker/wanna-be cordwainer a few months ago, and as such I eventually had to get an appropriate leather sewing machine, after using a Singer 99K for my first pair of boots and finding it troublesome to not be able to sew three-dimensional shapes. I recently acquired a Singer 29K72 for a measly $200, and it is in remarkable condition. The previous owner seems to have taken good care of it and oiled/cleaned it regularly. Nevertheless I also did so as soon as I’d brought it home and it operates smoothly. It will gladly make stitches as long as 4 mm, although I operate with a much higher SPI for shoemaking. However, I have run into a couple of small issues and was wondering if any of you have any suggestions as to how to rectify them. 1) The leading edge of the shuttle carrier is worn down a little bit. I have purchased a new shuttle carrier (and driving pinion) from College Sewing to replace it. The problem is the tiny set screw that holds the driving pinion and shuttle carrier in place: it just will not come loose. I have tried a variety of different flathead drivers, but none of them give me enough momentum to get the screw lose without stripping the very fragile slot in the screw head; since it is so small. It is also already slightly stripped from the previous owner fidgeting with it. I have applied oil directly to the screw, but it will not budge. Suggestions? 2) The user manual says the leading edge of the shuttle carrier should travel 1/3 of the way across the slot where the needle reaches its deepest point at each oscillation of the carrier. I have made this adjustment to the eccentric stud, but it seems to not want to stay adjusted to that point. After sewing for a few minutes, the shuttle carrier starts coming short of the slot for about 5 mm. The machine will still stitch, but gets prone to skipping stitches. Then I’ll have to adjust the eccentric stud again, but it will soon revert back to an incorrect position. Does anyone know why this is and how I can remedy it? When I first adjusted the eccentric stud, it was stuck, but some oil to the adjustment screw loosened it up and made it possible to adjust. Is it possible I have damaged something when adjusting it the first time, perhaps? There is some very minor slack to the shuttle carrier, but not so much that it would move that far on its own without the eccentric stud being adjusted. 3) The needle clamp position adjustment is stuck also. Loosening the screw does nothing. I have oiled it, but it won’t budge. This is the smallest issue so far since the needle is still centered nicely above the needle plate hole, but I’m dreading the day I have to actually adjust it and won’t be able to. The two first issues combined leads to the machine skipping stitches every 10-15 stitches or so, which is very annoying. When it skips one stitch, it will also skip the next…and the next, so I have to stop what I am doing, lift the presser foot and move the material back to where it first skipped a stitch before I can continue sewing. Mind you, I am making shoes where a lot of the stitching is decorative and therefore needs to be impeccable, which is difficult when you have to remove the material and move it around a lot.

Hello, first of all a presentation, my name is Pablo Perez I try to make all kind of leather stuff as hobby and for that I bought a time ago a pair of old singer sewing machines. One is a 29K1 and another is a 48w6, with this one I have few problems which I wish that someone can help me to solve. The information that I have about this machine is the next: Model: Singer 48W6 Serial nº: I can´t find it Description: One-needle, vertical hook, horizontal cylinder machines and have the balance wheel at the LEFT of the operator. Max. 1800 stitches per minute, (leather), 2000 stitches per minute (fabrics). For sewing fabrics and leather. (according ismacs page) The first thing is the difficulty to find any reference to this model, I only can get a list of spare parts and few suppliers addresses from Singer customer service. Someone have or know this model? Can someone provide me any kind of information about it? The other is the small stitch lenght which I can get, about 17 stitches per inch in the 5 position (in position 1 the leather don´t move at all), it could be because the machine is too worn. In this case what pieces I must try to change or repair. Thank to your possible help
