Selling both a Cobra NP-4 & Cobra NP-10 Dual Feed skivers. Great shape, plenty of life left on the bell knives, servo motors for quiet, controlled use. 3. Replacing a band-blade in a Fortuna SAS leather splitting machine can be a complicated job, follow the instructions carefully and have plenty of space around your machine to work. Our Fortuna SAS 15″ band blade leather splitter recently developed a crack in the blade and needed to be replace. These steps are taken almost verbatim from the Fortuna owners manual. Click here to see the full blog post complete with photos and instructions. I hope this is a big help to anyone with one of these machines! Nick Duvall
  4. Manual Leather splitter & skiving machine like new used very little. Asking $225 plus shipping
  5. Hi everyone, I have recently started my leather journey making bags and wallets. I am now feeling the itch for a leather splitter with a long knife to be able to make wallets out of the leather I use to make bags. This would help me minimise inventory and save $ in the long term. I know that some people recommend just buying the required thickness, unfortunately most leather suppliers where I live in Australia do not split on request (let me know if you know a place that does that in Australia). I have searched for reviews for the Cowboy 8020 or Techsew SP-20 but can not find anything apart from videos coming form the dealers themselves. I know someone on this forum has already asked the same question about 4 years ago but no one was able to give a first hand review or impression for it. I am hoping that some people would have bought the machine since then and could give us their impression. These machines are quite costly and I am worried that they require too much maintenance for the average Joe without much sharpening skill. I know the Cobra class 14 receives a lot of praise but I am hoping to get a splitter with a larger knife. Plus here in Australia, the cobra class 14 is dearer than the cowboy 8020 despite its shorter blade. Thanks for your insight.
  6. Vintage/antique Whitfield leather splitter No. 599. The tag reads Whitfield, Hodgsons & Brough Ltd. Boot Repairing Machinery Specialists. I am not a leatherworker, but will do my best to answer any questions. The crank turns easily and the knob on the top horizontal shaft adjusts the distance between the rollers. The blade is 7.5" wide and 3/8" thick and will need to be sharpened at a minimum. The splitter weighs 108 lbs. From the few pictures I have found on the internet, the machine appears to be missing a piece of what looks to be angle iron on the infeed side. See pic with arrow. This pic was found here on leatherworker.net. The splitter is located in Henderson, KY 42420 (just south of Evansville, IN) and at this time, I am not willing to ship. $1,750 and can hold for up to 90 days with a $100 non-refundable deposit.
  7. Hello all! I recently located to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I do small leather goods (ie purses/wallets) and so far have been splitting all my leather using my skiver. I am stepping up production and can no longer afford to spend all my time splitting! I am looking for someone who offers splitting services in my area. Ideally you can split up to 22 inches wide, but I'll take whatever you can handle. Thanks in advance for any advice/help! Kim 415-233-3884
  8. I'm getting into leather work and need several pieces of equipment as well as hand tools and punches. I'm interested in a hand-crank skiver, kick-press snapsetter (preferably double-head), bell-knife strap splitter, round knife, hole punch sets and end punch sets. Depending on price, might be interested in a large splitter, edge painter or other equipment. I'm located in SW Virginia and can pick up items in NC, SC, TN, WV, KY, OH, or PA if needed. Let me know if you have anything you would like to sell. Thanks!
  9. Artisan LS-1020 20” leather splitter. Excellent condition with Low hours of use. Located in Cotati California. Local pick up/shipping can be arranged. here are the specs: http://www.artisansew.com/leathercuttingmachinesandclickers.html $1985

  11. American leather splitter for sale, I have 2 and this needs to go. Works fine, leather split during picture taking. $550 plus shipping or pickup near Tallahassee, FL
  12. I'm looking for an 8 inch leather splitter. Anybody got any splitters they want to sell or had issues with a certain brand that they'd stay away from? I will mostly be splitting Veg. skirting Thanks
  13. I bought this several years ago and I’m not sure where. It has no markings indicating a Hanson, but there so many versions out there I’ll make no claims. However; it works beautifully to pair and bevel lace. Sadly, arthritis and hand surgeries have limited my abilities to make my own lace much longer. I have resorted to pre-cut roo lace – and it works well. $250 plus shipping via PayPal. I'm in Virginia PM me if interested
  14. I’ve had this for several years, and it always worked well for me. Arthritis has slowed me down, and I've not used it in a while; so the blade may need sharpening. $100 plus shipping via PayPal. I'm in Virginia PM me if interested.
  15. This is a hard to find splitter I’ve only seen the 4 and 6 in available before I found this with a bunch of tools I purchased from a 97 year old saddle maker. It’s used but in great working order the blasé is sharp and stropped razor sharp. The 4 original blade adjustment screws will come with. There are new stainless ones in the picture that worked better for me. Let me know if you have any questions. I’m asking 550 local pick up Sonoma county California but happy to ship at whatever shipping costs me. I think it might even fit a medium flat rate once handle is off. I’m only selling because I have an Osborne 84 as well. let me know I’d you have any questions or want to make an offer by PM
  16. Are the Landis 30 (no longer in production as far as I can tell) and the Master Tools Leather Splitter the same machine? I'm having trouble setting up my Landis 30, which is missing the two screws that are set on the back just below the blade. I'm considering ordering the Master Tools gauge from Weaver to help set it up properly. Will the Master Tools splitter blade fit the Landis 30? Thanks for your help.
  17. Hi, I am just starting to work with leather as a hobby. I would like to buy a bench top splitter for splitting mainly bridle leather. The usage would be right now for belt ends and for raising leather with inlays. Here in Europe I already searched for splitters and mostly found the Osborne splitters. Has anyone experience with the 84 and 86A? To me it looks like the 86A is more modern whereas the 84 has a scale and can split wider. What splitter would you recommend? Thanks

  19. I recently purchased a leather shop and there are many items of which I either do not need or want this is one of them. New this machine sells for $2835 and the additional blades are $345. The machine is in like new condition and will come with an extra set of blades. I’d like $2500 for everything, OBO.
  20. Up for sale is my lightly used, like new, leather splitter. I purchased this splitter mainly to reduce the thickness of the 6 oz scrap leather left over from making tote bags. The thought was that I could thin the leather to be used for wallets and small accessories. However, I just never grew that aspect of my business. Now I have a barely used splitter and way too much scrap leather! Delivery available if in the Metro Atlanta area. Please let me know if I can answer any questions!

  23. I have a 12" Fortuna band knife splitter or sale. It is used and in good shape. I moved into a different direction with and do not use it. I am in Oklahoma City area and would like to have it picked up here. Let me know if you are interested? Asking $1200 Thank you Randy.
  24. I've decided to sell my Dixon since I already have a larger Keystone splitter along with a Landis crank. This is a rare machine that is also great for doing lap skives. It was made in England and has the original blade in great condition (no nicks or warping). This is a pull through splitter and the depth is set by the knob on the bottom. I'm asking $500 firm and would prefer local pickup in here Chicago.
  25. Restoration and sharpening of C.S Osborne No. 86 splitter
