  1. I have a 12" Fortuna band knife splitter or sale. It is used and in good shape. I moved into a different direction with and do not use it. I am in Oklahoma City area and would like to have it picked up here. Let me know if you are interested? Asking $1200 Thank you Randy.
  2. Hi guys, I just picked a Landis splitter and what I believe is a Champion 30 Peerless machine on Craigslist for $100! Seemed too good to be true, but the splitter works pretty well. I haven't had a chance to set up the Champion yet. The one issue I'm having with the splitter is that the knife doesn't seem to be able to cut through the leather at the very end. I'm able to feed the leather through the rollers and it splits all the way until the last few mm and then it catches on the knife and gets stuck. At that point, I either have to cut the leather out by hand or walk it back out the way it came. Is this happening because the knife isn't sharp enough? Thanks for the assist!
  3. Who has extensive experience with the Craftool Pro Splitter? I want to try my hand at a couple rolled edge wallets but I do not want bulk. I have some Old World Bellies that are about 1.1-1.2mm thick and I'd like to take them down to a fairly consistent 0.8mm (which is still thicker than some of the leather in my Bosca wallets). My Splitter is inbound so I haven't had a chance to play with it yet. So my real questions are, how thin have you been able to go? And, how little have you been able to successfully peel from your stock? Half of a millimeter? Obviously the blade edge matters and milage may vary, I just want to know if anyone has been successful in this area. Thanks, Joel
  4. I've decided to sell my Dixon since I already have a larger Keystone splitter along with a Landis crank. This is a rare machine that is also great for doing lap skives. It was made in England and has the original blade in great condition (no nicks or warping). This is a pull through splitter and the depth is set by the knob on the bottom. I'm asking $500 firm and would prefer local pickup in here Chicago.
  5. Thinking that I was going to be doing more lacing than I am, I purchased a lace cutter/Beveler, splitter from Mr. Clint Sims last summer. I tracked his email down through a leather forum, as it seems he has an almost cult-like following and you can’t find these little machines for sale anywhere. He has been machining these tools for fifteen years and the one I got is the most recent generation. I HAVE NEVER USED THIS TOOL. I never even set it up and read all the way through the instructions that he emailed me, because my business turned in a different direction and I found myself not needing to make my own lace. All pieces are included, down to the blades that he taped together and his little hand written notes warning me that they are sharp and how to properly mount the tool I paid $310 (can provide all email and receipt documentation). I’d like someone to be able to use it. Selling it for $300 shipped, but also willing to entertain (very reasonable) offers. It’s brand spanking new. Includes all emailed instructions for set up and use from the man himself. Additional photos can be provided per request ( I wasn’t able to upload all of them on here).
  6. Restoration and sharpening of C.S Osborne No. 86 splitter
  7. Got a good deal from an antique dealer on the much maligned Spittler Skiver. I stripped the old paint off and clear coated the castings. I ground out the old scrapes off the round ring with the index numbers, smoothd the inside handle surfaces and added a small coil spring over the original spring blade. After getting the blade back in shape I find it works remarkably better than I expected. The coil spring may not be the most elegant solution but for less than $3.00 the handles hold well and are adjustable within a skive.
  8. I have a Krebs style splitter in great condition. See images. Asking 750.00 OBO. This is a professional splitter with a top roller feature allowing for smooth and consistent skive or split. pks text or email direct for images. Won’t allow to upload. sales@greenmanleather.ca 6476375229

  11. TO: MODS. Sorry, i just realized i put in wrong section. If you want, you can move. Again, sorry. I couldnt find how to "delete". I have a USED, Hi-Tech Leather Splitter for sale. Its been used and I bought it new way back then. Just some disclosures. The roller was not concentric when I received it and was able to make a replacement. Its not perfect and there is still a small wow in it. The knob on the bottom that adjusts the thickness is partially missing. IT was that way upon arrival, but it still works Whats included. 1 each Hi-Tech leather Splitter. Approximately 4.25 inch long roller 1 each cool orange box - intact. 1 each NEW replacement blade. Never used. All for $63.00 including USPS Priority mail to your USA address. Its 50 USD for the unit and 13 USD for USPS Priority Mail. For those in the USA, a USPS money order is required. OR if you need to send something else, drop me a IM and ask. For those in Canada, if you really really want this, then you will need to pay more for shipping. Approximately 25 USD according to the USPS. So your total would be about 75 USD. Don't forget about the conversion factor. I will eat the deposit charge my credit union charges me for foreign currency. Also, a Money Order would be required. Thank you for looking

  13. Hello all, I'm looking to buy a good Landis Model 30 splitter machine for myself. Really need it to finish some work. I want to get a good one because I dont want to restore it. (not easy to find parts in Canada). I live in Toronto, Canada. If anyone has a good Landis 30 for sale, please DM me the price + shipping to my house. Thank you so much,
  14. Howdy, folks. I recently came by an American 6" crank splitter and, after an extensive cleanup operation, I am finally ready to tune and use it. I am primarily a small goods maker, wallets and other carry items, so I primarily am working with leathers in the 3-4 oz range. Many of my colleagues are using the Landis 30 to split these thinner weight leathers and as I understand it, the American is practically the same machine for all intents and purposes. I am hoping to get the same use out of mine. That said, I am having trouble getting my rollers to close properly at the desired width for these thinner leathers. I can get good grip and tension on the non-crank side, but for the life of me I cannot get the rollers on the crank side to adequately close up. I have read the Landis P30 PDF about adjusting the splitter for use but I still have been unable to get it dialed in. The splitter originally came with the larger of the two lower tension springs placed on the non-crank side; I have tried it both under the crank and opposite it, but neither way seems to make any difference. Am I asking too much of it? I apologize if I'm too vague, this is my first experience with one of these machines, so I'm doing my best to articulate the problem. Any thoughts? I'm happy to provide photos of anything needed. Thank you much!
  15. For sale in Continental USA only. This is a used Ellegi model SKS 8” wide Stationary/Straight Knife Splitter. Please take note that this is a 3 Phase Power machine. Can be converted over to be powered by a 110v motor by replacing motor. This machine I believe was imported by American Shoe Machinery Company. This machine is in excellent condition as well as the blade and feed roller. Splitter has forward and reverse switch. I have upgraded to a wider machine and selling this one. Manual/instructions included. Machine stands about 45” tall and is 18” x 18” on the base. Shipping weight is about 247lbs and 265lbs on pallet, I will palletize and pack this machine, you will need to arrange a shipper to pick it up. $1300 Reply through this forum or you may call the shop at 602-two69-zero202. Thanks for looking.
  16. I have an antique Osborne skiver/splitter that can handle up to about 4 inchs. Mostly do 1" - 2" wide straps. I'm about to retire it as it's damaged, guy that sharpened blades retired and passed, would rather shelve it than completely break it - or cut myself when the brackets holding it to my work table finally break off fully. My question is if anyone has used a smaller skiver - like the picture of the cheap style I see on ebay - for a strap wider than the blade. I was thinking for a lot of my smaller duty pieces I could split a 2" strap - rotate it - not flip it and split the other side. Not talking about length - as in top to bottom - but side to side., Or, since the mouth is wide enough, simply bring the strap back, slide it over a bit, pull through a second time to split a wider piece of leather. Kind of like mowing grass. Was hoping to find something to hold me over until could purchase a larger replacement for my classic. Thanks everyone!
  17. Hi All, I'm after a Dene Williams Leather splitter. I would like to find one in reasonable condition please.
  18. I’m a Newbie to This Arena And Want to Buy Some Tools That Will Last For Quite a While. I want to get a skiver/splitter. Have Heard Much About Osborne 84 And 86. I Also Recognize There Are Many Others Out There That Are Similar. I Don’t Mind Spending The Money to Get a New Osborne 84 But I’m Wondering if it Would be a Better Idea For me to Get an Vintage One And Get it Cleaned up or Even Another Brand /model. Any suggestions would be very grateful.
  19. I am about to lose my mind. I recently purchased a cowboy bench splitter. The 800 model. It has been great as I've only been through the testing it out phase. I noticed it was slightly off one side to the other. (I've come to realize that my need for perfection should have lead me to obtaining a higher end model like the Osborne 84, but I digress) So for all intents and purposes.... this is what I have to work with. I attempted to even out the roller bar adjusting the nut on the opposite side of the handle. I seemed to have gotten it almost perfectly level with the blade. Here's my problem... it won't skive now!!!! It worked perfectly fine before I apparently jacked it up. So now my pieces are a bit closer to perfectly even, but the handle doesn't seem to have that little extra give at the end that allows for the skive. I have searched and searched and searched for info on this and have come up with nothing. I really hope someone out there can help me!☺️
  20. Just had this splitter delivered today, it's brand new and adjusted at the factory. I'm having some problem splitting veg tan/dublin. I gauge the leather at 6oz and I want to skive it down to 4oz or 5oz. Yet, I can't seem to get it to feed through the machine. The only way I can feed is if the splitter is gauged to 3oz or lower. Machine didn't come w/ instructions, nobody is in their office at Landis and all I can find online are Landis 30 instructions.. but they are a bit obtuse for me. Anybody have suggestions?

  22. Landis 6" Splitter Newly refurbished with a brand new knife $1000
  23. I have a fairly new hand crank, 6" blade Cowboy Leather Splitter. This leather splitter is in fantastic working and physical condition. The blade is very sharp, it is oiled up and ready to split. It was an impulse buy on my part. I haven't used it much as I thought I would, since I bought it. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions about it. I'm willing to sell it for $1100 (not including shipping) I paid $1395 +tax for it. If you live in the Dallas, Texas area you are more than welcome to come check it out or pick it up. I will be willing to ship, at the buyers expense. It's pretty heavy, and I'm not to sure how much shipping would cost, but if you are interested I could find out.
  24. Tandy Leather Craftool Deluxe Leather Skiver Tandy Leather #3795-00 Purchased in 2015. Still sharp and like new. $385 new. Asking $200. Manufacturers Description: This is one of the finest bench splitter / skiver manufactured today. When you see the plate steel construction of this splitter, you will know that it is ready for a lot of use. The 6" (152 mm) blade makes it great for shaving straps to a consistent thickness or just thinning down the ends for a buckle. Adjustments will let you set it to get the same results every time. Users' Perspective: Great for making collars, leashes, and bridles. Really speeds up production. I used this for about 6 months. I'm now doing jewelry professionally. Leather still a hobby, but thinning the tools out. Video of Tool by Tandy
