All. I'm having trouble with the backside stitch of my machine. I have a cowboy 4500 but the backside stitch is horrible. Un-dyed leather pushes through and the holes/stitching are just ugly... Anyone know of a fix?

Hi everyone, So is the perfect stitch when the knot created by the top thread and the botton thread is located in the middle of the leather you are sewing. That said, if the thickness of the leather you are sewing changes then the resistance changes proportionally both upward and downward so the knot would always end up in the middle of the leather. I have read that tention will have to be changed when you make a large change like from 4 .oz to 9 .oz . This doesn't make sense to me so any feed back would be appreciated. Also if someone has a better way to finish a stitch with out melting it with a lighter and making a mess out of it I would sure like to hear about it. Thanks in advance for any help.

At least that's what I'm expecting to see when I get there. I know that sititch length is important to check on these - with any particular thickness leather? Other things to check? Is there such a thing as long arm or big bobin in this generation? and how would I recognize it? IF there is a big bobin is it worth paying more for? For some strange reason seller says she wants to keep the stand - how much to deduct for that? Thx

Okay, so, I need a little input. I'm making this large card carrier. It has a gusset with the seams on the inside. The issue I'm having is that the stitches appear uneven when it is fliped inside out and some of the stitches show. How do you get a nice tight straight looking line? I believe my issue is coming from the glue line and the stitches pulling a little loose when it is flipped inside out, but I'm not 100% sure. The first one I did, I didn't skive the edges. The one I'm working on now, I've skived about 1/4" in (It's 2oz veg tan). I used my machine on the first one with 207 thread. I'm not sure about the stitches per inch. Should the glue line create the line, or the stitches? I was thinking maybe a thinner thread (69) with more stithces per inch as one option. Any ideas or input is welcome.

Posting in here because I am interested to see some good glue options. This is prototype #1 for a collar I am making to sell in my shop(please ignore the fact that some rivets are uncentered and backwards as it is unfinished and I just placed them in the holes to get an idea of the end look). I attempted to sew the rabbit fur on, after glueing it on with Tandy Eco glue(which smells like watered down Elmers). However the fur pulled through the stitch holes and came out the front. I cut the stitches out and am working on ideas for stitching it. Is there a glue option that will last and can actually be worn without worry of it coming apart? I do not want to make a product that only looks good but is strong and functional that will last. I have several folks waiting already so any assistance is greatly appreciated. -
Hello! I have just purchased my first TechSew 3650 HD (super excited about it by the way) and am planning on making headstalls, breastcollars, halters, etc. I have previously been using an old Singer that has done a great job, just ready to move up to the big leagues. I have heard about using a "saddle stitch" and a regular stitch.... what is the difference between the two? What is the typical thread size, stitch length, needle size that I should use for heavy harness leather from about 11-16oz thick for my tack? I have the needle that came with the machine, I believe they are 27 (if I am remembering correctly) and 207 thread. I remember there being a post about this but I cannot seem to find it to save my life. Any help you would provide would be great! Thank you so much!

Hello Everyone, Jus thought I would share this simple video I made on threading a leather sewing machine.
