  1. Hi, Can any one help me get the exact position of the holes in a 3 holes belt? I currently do 5 inch from the strap end for 5 holes. Also, what size should the hole punch be if the buckle pin is 4mm wide? I saw it in an hermes belt that they do 3 holes configuration but I’m finding to hard to what distance to punch the holes from either ends.
  2. Does anyone have a good template or any pointers for making a tooled pistol pouch? Something with a zipper, lined with something soft and a braided edge? I have tooled before and done some basic hand sewing but want to try to step it up. I have never attempted a braided edge but I have always wanted to try it. I really like the look of it.
  3. If you use Cast Iron Skillets or know someone who does and you're locked inside make a few of these to keep from burning your /their hands. Do NOT leave these on if you are going to put your skillet in the Oven. Let me know if you like it, or know of a way to improve it. Pot Holder.pdf
  4. Hello. Im currently working on my personal Portfolio, so I'm including some Leathercrafting stuff. Here is the template and video for a simple Card holder (up to 6 cards). It comes with a web 3d configurator so you can test different leather types, colors, thread, etc. (If it is slow try to make your browser window smaller to reduce resolution) Video: 3D configurator: https://www.raulreyes3d.com/vch02a3d Pattern https://www.raulreyes3d.com/tutorials/2020/5/9/making-a-card-holder-vch02a
  5. Introductory pricing through the month of March on the Horse Creek Leather Works belt hole alignment/marking system. Regular price $74.95 – introductory price $59.95 including shipping to the lower 48. The system consists of 2 jigs that center and space your holes perfectly and quickly every time. The tip and buckle end jigs both have adjustable stops with the tip end marked at 6 ½”, 7”, 7 ½”, 8”, and 8 ½” from the center hole. The tip end has two versions, one with hole spacing at ¾” on center and 1” on center. Simply place over the belt and slide up to the belt end, close the sides against the belt, mark with the provided marking tool or your punch and you have perfectly spaced and centered holes. We call it the FTM-CTM (faster than measuring-cheaper than machine). You can order by credit card at https://hclw-belt-tool.square.site They can also be customized at extra cost on a case by case basis. email: butch@horsecreekleatherworks.com phone 828 528 1831 Thank you
  6. Since I have used templates from here, I thought it would be nice to give back a little. Here is a template for a minimal wallet. It has 3 card slots and a lager pocket for whatever. Feel free to arrange them in many different ways. Prints well on 8x10 paper. Enjoy!
  7. So, I'm working on another messenger bag, this one has two front pockets that are about an inch deep. Instead of using a gusset i borrowed a design from a tandy book and made a printable/cutable template....i used a stoned oil side on my cricut to cut this out, but laser or print, trace and cut should work. The dimensions can be adjusted in inkscape for wider, taller, and deeper pockets...just remember to keep the distance inside the "gouge lines" even. The .svg file is below and the direct link is on pinterest to the cricut project. https://pin.it/nkkrzks5tuuhoc bag-front pocket.svg
  8. Please feel free to check it on my SHOP in ETSY and follow my instagram. Thanks!
  9. Thought I would share this, she doesn't speak English but I have learned alot from watching her. Look at some of her other videos. She shows how she makes her patterns.
  10. Just a simple little clutch for Mrs Wedgetail on her birthday. It is made from cognac coloured glazed Kangaroo skin, with a chrome tanned kangaroo tassel. The interior is lined with pigskin, with a card pocket made from the same kangaroo as the outer. The outside is saddle stitched at 3.38mm spacing using Wuta pricking irons, and 1mm black braided poly... would have been better to use .6 or .8. Edges are painted with black edge paint, my first attempt using edge paint instead of burnishing! Easy enough to do, takes longer, but looks great I think. If you're interested, the template for this came from Wuta which you can find online. The templates are good and accurate... instructions would be good for new leathercrafters but with a bit of a 'cuppa and a think' and maybe watching a bit of youtube, most should be able to figure it out. It also called for some specific thickness of leather on the templates, but since veg roo is stiff I used thinner stuff and it worked out fine. I normally make my own templates, but blew up my laser Enjoy, and let me know what you think.
  11. Hi Does anyone perhaps have I pencil case and tobacco bag template? The square type pencil case would be great
  12. From the album: Blue Falcon Leather

Here is a golf ball and tee holder, I used a template I converted to svg in inkscape to cut out the back and pigskin liner, and to cut the snap and rivet holes with acricut explore air 2. It took a few iterations with the deep cut blade but came out nice on 4/5oz economy veg tan. Here is a link to my YouTube video of the cutter in action... Almost forgot to add I also used the scoring stylus to scribe the stitch lines. This cheap veg doesn't case well it tool easily but with some patience it can turn out decent.
  13. I'm looking for a template for the panel of a football.
  14. I make this video on YouTube explaining how to make one of my Leather Key Fobs, I have the plans available for purchase on etsy, for a small ammount, just to help me out make new video in the future. Check it out if you're interested; Leather Key Fob Tutorial Video Plans and Template available for purchase: Leather Key Fob Tutorial and Template
  15. This is based on the Twist pencil case by Japanese company Foca. It's an entirely flat, single piece of leather that nevertheless forms a solid enclosed space. the leather this one is made of is 2.8mm thick (from a split butt) and lined with pig skin but you could go a little thicker and stamp or carve it to your heart's content. Opened, it tends to stay curled and acts as a pen tray on whatever coffee shop table I'm hot-desking at. Closed, it has such a tactile form that people don't want to put it down. The two versions of the template are for small and large cases. Small (pictured) is 210mm x 120mm & uses a 12" YKK bag zipper (or equivalent). The stitches are 4mm pitch and 4mm from the edge. Large is 280mm x 160mm and uses & uses a 16" zipper. It's a simple thing to make and gets a great reaction from people.
  16. Hey guys, I've shot a real simple video of me making just a standart Key Fob, really easy for a first time project, except for the stitching part, obviously. I hope you guys can enjoy it, I haven't posted here in a while so I thought this would be a good time to do that! Also, the Key Fob that I made in the video is up for a GIVEAWAY, all you have to do is go to my Facebook or Instagram page (links below), like or follow, and comment on the Key Fob picture with the hashtag #iwantthekeyfob, next sunday I'll pick a random winner and that's it! I've made really basic step by step pdf instructions with the template, anyone can have it for free, jus make sure you support my social media and ask me for it, I'll gladily sent it to you Link to the YouTube tutorial: www.facebook.com/louraleather www.instagram.com/louraleather Email: louraleather@gmail.com
  17. I'm looking for a holster pattern/template for a sig p320 compact. Any type holster will do. My brother wants me to make one but I can't find any patterns! Also ISO a blue gun. I found bluegunstore.com, are there any other options? Thanks!!
  18. Not quite leather but I'm pretty pleased with this creation from my new 3D printer. Created a Jig that allows me to lay this and lock it on the edge of a 1 1/2 inch belt. Although only 4 holes you can side it up and down the belt to get the 5-7 holes most people seem to prefer for belts. The end was rounded to allow to either cut or draw the guide lines for cutting the end of the belt. Jig is 5 mm thick and the two sides extend another 2 mm past to allow the belt to sit cleanly in the jig. Already thinking about how this could assist with stamping and spacing repeat patterns. Any other ideas where this would prove useful in leather work? Love to hear any thoughts.
  19. Hey Folks, I have started creating a template for quick & easy mockups of ideas, and just added a few stamps at random. I'll have to inventory & add the ones I have, but in the meantime I have made the template public. Anyone can view, but you'll need to have a gmail account so you can copy into your account & edit. https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1to5e_FX7RnWwzFGXz6jGsBmVG56h90aIFTvhzOTnzTg/edit?usp=sharing The really convenient thing about google draw is that if you want to keep making copies, you just hold down control while you drag the stamp, and just drag it to where you want it to go. Along the way it will show where it alligns with the centers & edges of other objects in the drawing. What you see in the template now only took a minute or two or clicking around. I'm willing to entertain requests for stamps to add to the template if you give a link to the stamp you want, but no promise on my turnaround time. For anyone interested in adding stamps on their own copies, I've been creating these from vendor images by using the program Gimp, which is similar to photoshop but free. In Gimp, I add a transparent alpha channel, select the stamp area I want to keep with a 5 pixel "feathered" edge, invert the selection, and cut out the excess. Some refining is necessary on stamps that aren't a perfect square, rectangle, or cirlcle. I then crop to the stamp area I wish to keep, export to .png format, and add to the template. For simple stamps, it only takes about a minute. For the 3d stamp in the template, it took maybe 3 or 4 minutes. For carving, I haven't tried this yet, but I figure line art created in the template might work a bit, or uploads of drawing, I don't think those would work as well as the stamps do since the stamps are actual images of stamped leather. Here's the link, fope it proves useful!
  20. Album here. Hello everyone. It's been a while since I last posted, and honestly I haven't been doing much. Unfortunately hobbies take money, and there just hasn't been enough to spend on hobbies lately. This was inspired by a member on another site showing his 3D printed belt template. I have enough knowledge of CAD products to be dangerous, so I figured I'd give it a try. The linked album was the result. I used Sketchup, which I knew nothing about. After following the first 3 how-to's they have, this is what I came up with. Initially I tried importing my existing CAD template, but Sketchup wouldn't allow me to push/pull to make a 3d object. I think this took me about 30 minutes or so to whip up. Now that I know what to do it shouldn't take more than 5 for the other templates I have planned. The most complicated part was getting the point right. None of the arcs would make this type of English point. What I wound up doing is drawing an equilateral rectangle, then two circles centered on two points, then breaking everything outside of the intended point. Also, Sketchup doesn't have the ability to save in STL file format, which is what most 3d printers read. I had to install the "Sketchup STL" extension, which gave me the ability to export the STL file. I might make a 2nd version of this template. The holes are a tad too big for my scratch awl to properly/accurately center. If you're wondering about the odd length, it's because of the print area that's available on the 3d printer I used. The print field is 6"x6"x10", but max size on your parts can only be 1/4" less than that. I could have printed it vertically, but that would have required a support structure which I wasn't too interested in creating. If you have access to a 3d printer, give this a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
  21. I'm currently building a table top for my Singer 111W155. It did not come with an existing top, so I've been referencing images online. However, one thing I would like to get some more information on, is the distance between the server motor and the pulley on the sewing machine. To position the servo motor lever that connects to the foot pedal roughly in the center of the table, I ended up positioning the motor 10 inches from the sewing machine (measuring horizontally, center line of pulley to pulley). Should the servo motor be closer to the sewing machine? Is a shorter vbelt preferable to a longer one? Currently I have a 3L400 on it. In the image below, you can see the mockup that I've made with the 10" spacing. The socket cap bolts show the location of the servo motor. If I keep this configuration, it also seems like the vbelt channel does not have to be connected to the sewing machine cutout, which is pretty much how ALL the cutouts I've seen are. Here's a diagram of my table top. There's an 1.5" tube steel frame inset 1.5" from the edge, indicated by the dashed line. The sewing machine is positioned 4" from the bottom and 7" from the right side, should leave plenty of space for the bobbin winder without running into the steel frame.
  22. Hi there, I wondered if anybody know whether it is possible to get a pattern/template to make a satchel. I have been making journal covers for quite some time now but would like to try some new work. Any advise is greatly appreciated
  23. Hello All, Looking to see if anyone can steer me to a rifle sling template (free or paid). I've been doing the google search and see lots of custom work on slings but no templates. I'm hoping to make one with the thumb hole as this seems to be a very useful addition. If no templates are known, if anyone has some measurements that would be useful as well. Distance from top of sling to thumb hole, and adjustment hole measurement would be greatly appreciated. I believe adjustment of 36" to 42" seems to be common. I'm looking to create a sling that will fit to 1" swivels, flaired out with decreasing width, thumb hole, continue decrease to 1" bottom strap (one piece) finished with a Conway Buckle for adustment. Lazy me, works best off templates I can see and modify. Information me is able to build the template in Corel Draw if I have measurements that work in the real world. Any direction on this is greatly appreciated.
