Recently purchased a 153k103 cylinder arm walking foot machine. The machine worked fine days before I picked it up and brought it over to my place. The walking foot is stuck in the up position and lever behind it isn’t working, no tension. The pedal is connected as should be but I don’t feel any tension whenever the pedal is pressed, I have a feeling something is stuck. Not much of a mechanic and the manuals don’t explain much on these matters. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am looking to get a good walking foot machine that is a true triple compound feed. So far the 1541 models are the ones that fit the bill and the Thor looks good at its price point but I am wanting to make sure I have long term quality. I would like to get a cylinder arm but financially it's not in the cards right now. I would prefer to stay in the 1500-1700 range if I have to in order to get a quality triple compound feed machine. I have been reading different posts and kind of using Wiz's tips as guidelines but with so many its just difficult when you can get the whole setup for a few hundred dollars less and it "seems" like the quality is the same but I was hoping for more insight from those who have had more experience with "knock-off" brands of the proven manufacturers. -

I bought a machine over here in Australia for my better half. I figured these machines are built well and parts are available, so just took the plunge. The timing belt had broken and the previous owners had sourced a new one they were supplying with the machine. The machine was looked over by a mechanic late last year so figured it was a safe buy. I removed the arm bushing (banged it up pretty bad removing it) and installed the new timing belt. I timed it with the take up lever and the arrows and then timed the hook, so she is capable of creating a stitch but there are a few things not right. The presser foot doesn't lift as part of the mechanism just sort of sits on the leather with constant pressure and the feed is out of time. I get the feeling a few things have been moved by the previous owner and trying to figure it all out leaves me feeling a few things are missing. From my studying, mostly from looking at the Consew 226 exploded parts list and the Singer 211 drawings and cross referencing with the 111G156 parts list, I think I am missing at least: 240500 - Tension release slide 240142 - Tension release slide spring 240185 - Vibrating presser bar extension 240188 - Vibrating presser bar spring 350299C - Vibrating presser bar thumb screw (pressure regulating) 200996C - Lifting bell crank cap screw Could the experts here and those with the same machine have a look over these photos and advise if these are required and any other missing parts I may not have picked up. I have a protex ty 3300 hoping someone can tell me how to make the presser foot higher to allow for more layers to go under ? My machine tec did change it last time he was here but am wanting it to go higher. I didn’t quite see which screw he loosened or tightened under the machine where the knee lift is. sorry I couldn’t upload a photo cause it tells me the file is to large. :l like every other photo I try to upload on here.

Techsew 2700 Cylinder Compound Feed Industrial Sewing Machine Hi fellow Leatherworkers, I have a practically unused Techsew 2700 for sale. This is a cylinder bed, compound walking foot, industrial sewing machine for light and medium leather. It will sew up to 3/8” thickness. I have less than 10 hours use on it. Bought it on lease 2 years ago and then found out I had throat cancer. I got the radiation/chemo treatment and have been cancer free since but way too tired to run a business. I paid off the lease a few months ago and was hoping to get back to work but well...a man's got to know his limitations. I installed a speed reduction pully which really slows this bugger down but still has a nice rage of speeds settable on the servo motor. Included are all the accessories shown. I have kept it well oiled and it's in my clean dry workshop (well as clean as a workshop normally is anyway). I'm asking $1500.00 and would like to sell to someone within reasonable driving distance. I have some items I have sewn with this machine on my website madwolfleatherworks.com Look for the lined dog collars and knife sheaths for examples. hi all, The threads I've read so far are super informative and interesting, but I haven't yet found an answer to my question. I've had a Singer 31-15 for several years and sew on it constantly (not leather really, just fabric), and love the stitch quality and how perfect it looks. I would like to do more straight line quilting on it, and think a walking foot might help with feeding the fabric through a little more perfectly, but have only found this resource for an adapted even feed foot for it: http://www.treadleon.net/sewingmachineshop/walkingfootmod/walkingfootmod.html Unfortunately I read that this person has since passed away, but my husband helped make the adaptation to a singer even feed foot for me. I'm scared to try it because I don't want to throw off the timing or anything on my machine, and the reason I'm nervous is because in the article and photo it shows a "professional" even feed foot and I just bought the singer even feed foot I found at Joanns. Does anyone know if the professional one might be specifically made for industrial type machines? I tried searching for Professional even feed feet and couldn't find any that said that on them... thanks for any advice! Ellene

Pfaff 545-H4-6/01 in excellent condition. $900 This is a triple feed medium weight leather sewing machine. This machine was built in Western Germany. It's capable of sewing up to size 138 threads, and through 3/8" of leather. The machine has been cleaned, adjusted and serviced. It works perfectly. maximum stitch is approximately 8mm, minimum stitch is less than 1mm. Reverse stitch matches the forward stitch. Internals are clean and oiled. Hi, new here and new to leather working and heavy machines, minus my old singer 96k. (But been working as seamstress at menswear shop 11years so have a general knowledge of sewing) I have just bought a second hand singer 45k89 but it only came with the one foot. I am wondering if anyone can help me find more feet and possibly a bobbin winder that attaches to the machine body (not the table, if that makes any sense) I have asked a company called college sewing online but they have ignored my message and I’ve scoured eBay and I’m only finding bobbins and cases. So thought I’d ask a forum of people who know! Thanks in advance any help is much appreciated!

He everyone, Let me start by saying how grateful I am for this forum. Has been a lot of help. This time though, I can't seem to find an answer to my problem. I have a Pfaff 546 H3 walking foot machine that runs great with heavy leather however, I cannot seem to get it to feed properly if I have only one layer of "garment" leather on top of nylon. Is this normal or are there adjustments I can make? This is my first walking foot machine that I got during the holidays. I used to use my Consew 230 but it had its limitations. The purpose of this machine is to sew a leather piece on top of waterproof nylon but when I try to do so, the machine does not feed. I get these tiny little stitches even though I'm at 6 stitches per inch! I tried adjusting the presser foot but with no success. I was hoping this machine would be able to make my double stitching but it does not seem to do so... Thanks Sylvie -

I’ve been slowly dialing her in as I learn the mechanics (First part of the video) My first question: is it normal for the feed dog to impact the outer presser foot as it comes up and before the foot lifts? Is this timing or should I grind off the inner back side of the presser foot where it makes contact? When sewing I noticed that my material sometimes gets pressed forward and I think this might be the cause (Second part of the video) My second question: my material is getting pulled and it’s hard to keep it straight. You can see it pulling up (I’m assuming during tensioning) right as the vibrating presser foot hits it’s highest point and begins to come back down. You’ll see the fabric flare up and it pulls it to the side. Can this be fixed?

I have 2 machines with work stations for sale. Consew 206rb-3 and Juki LU-1508N sewing centers. Like new machines in a very well made portable work station that folds up. Each machine is on casters and rolls into a shipping crate that is also on casters. The roof of the shipping crate Unbolts and is used as the ramp for the work station to be pushed into and out of the crate. Setup or teardown takes 5 min with 1 person and no tools. One crate stacks safely on top of the other. Both machines are like new and have been very well maintained. The 206 is missing one of the hinges where the machine head tilts back. Other than that they are both like new. These would be great for someone who has to travel and sew. There's plenty of room for material on the top sides of the machine inside the shipping crate. Asking $2500 for the Juki LU-1508N OBOAnd $2200 for the Consew 206rb-3 OBO I can load on a truck or trailer or I can ship one or both From St. Louis. Just acquired this singer 111wsv31 looking to find out some history if anybody knows anything. All I can find is by SN# it's pre 1940'. The W is made in Bridgeport, CT and the SV is what some call "special variety" or custom made for customer. From what I can tell this is the predicessor to the 144w201. It's a 20" throat with no reverse. It seems that it takes quite a few normal 111w parts but obviously there's many that aren't. It sews beautifully and has some unique cast iron legs with the singer insignia casted onto them. Anything helps. Probably going to sell if anyone's interested. Still works. 1/2 leather no problem. Walking foot. Servo Motor. upgraded Singer Treadle. Cost - peanuts! (God forbid if it ever needs any parts!)

I found a walking foot machine with reverse that fits my budget ($450). It's the CONSEW 118. I haven't found too much info on YouTube for this machine. The seller claims it was a back-up for him and has been stored indoors for the life of the machine. The pictures seem to support his claim as it is a clean machine. I intend to use this machine for leather wallets, backpacks, messenger bags using thinner leather. I'd like to do some basic holsters and upholstery in the future. I would very much appreciate your honest opinions, especially information regarding; space parts vendors/availability, needle recommendations, where to purchase additional presser feet, etc. Thank you all.
