  1. I really need some help. My old Rex 11-155R has been working Great for years. It sat idle for a few months and then when I went out to the shop to do a job...The Stitch it made was almost 3/8" long and the Adjustment Knob would NOT work. Knob functions as designed but...Stitch Length remains at 9mm or bigger. I removed the top and back access plates as well as the Knob assembly and for the Life of me cannot figure out how it is supposed to work. I searched the interior of the machine and found NO broken pieces and could not see where the Pointed End of the knob or the shaft came in contact with any other moving parts. Does anyone know how this thing works and why it is no longer working. Took it to a repair shop and it sat for 10 days and no one even looked at it. Got mad and went and picked it up and took these pics hoping someone on here might know the answer. I've done the timing in the past, Replaced the entire hook etc.. and as I said it was working fine. Now...NADA!!!! HELP!!!!!
  2. Hi there, I have a Sailrite flatbed LSZ-1 heavy-duty sewing machine that I've been playing with and even with the leather pressure foot I'm seeing marks left on my veg tan leather I've tried playing with the pressure foot force with the tension thumb screw up top but it's still leaving marks. Any suggestions? Thank you!
  3. Hello all! I'm having a little trouble making a decision... I'm buying my first walking foot machine and I'm not sure whether I should go with what I'm used to which is a flatbed machine like the Juki 1541s or if I should get the Techsew 2700 Pro which seems to have more capabilities? I mostly make garments but I would like to expand into accessories like purses. So it would seem like the cylinder bed would be great for that and with the table attachment it comes with it seems like a two for one. However, I've never used a cylinder machine and the height seems awkward. Can anybody attest or disagree with this? With the flatbed attachment does the fabric feed as easily as it would through a regular flatbed machine? I was dead set on getting the techsew today since they are having a sale for the holiday but now I'm feeling a little confused and a little nervous about buying something online that I wasn't able to try out... especially with that price tag. I've tried the Juki 1541S and it seems great but I don't want to outgrow it if I decide to make more accessories. Oh, and I'll mostly be working with garment weight leathers like lambskin and plonge... but a heavier cowhide to make purses with. Any comments, thoughts, or answers to my questions will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance
  4. i'm selling a almost new Pfaff 335 walking foot cylinder arm machine with the the oscillating binder attachment. It's a fantastic machine but it doesn't have enough pull for binding the seams( bought to set up as a dedicated binder) of my backpacks and bike bags. you can see my work www.alpineluddites.com, just so you have a reference for the type of items i was using it on. I know now it's a better leather machine than nylon from friends who own small production facilities here in Colorado. My staple machine is the Consew206RB-5 which just plows through anything with #69 & 92 thread. I also use it for sewing on leather patches and bottoms on some of my packs too. so I have 20 hours of actual sewing time on the this machine. Has the Pfaff anti knock off sticker. 3/4 hp servo. has both oscillating binder and regular plate and feet. located in Colorado. asking $1900
  5. Hi sewing machine experts... This is my first post as a new member - I hope I am posting in the right place... I make leather baby shoes (really slippers - see picture attached) and am looking to buy my first substantial sewing machine so I can amp up production. I have been using an old Kenmore 148.156 that I purchased at GoodWill, which is obviously NOT ideal and slow going - I am surprised it hasn't broken yet. The leather I am using is very soft, 3-5 oz but I am sometimes sewing through 3 layers so I need a fair amount to clearance. After reading through Wizcrafts topic on, "The Type Of Sewing Machine You Need To Sew Leather", it looks like what I may want is something like a Consew 206RB walking foot machine, or something similar. Does that sounds right? I found this option on Ebay, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Consew-206RB-5-Walking-Foot-Leather-Sewing-Machine-/182292952645?hash=item2a7181b645:g:DjAAAOSwmfhX6u92, which looks pretty decent to me (not sure about the 1/2hp clutch motor), but I really don't feel sufficiently confident in my knowledge as of yet to make a purchase, so was hoping for some advice from you experts! He also mentions that you want to buy a Japan made machine but Im not sure how to discern where this was manufactured. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  7. I have a "new-to-me" Pfaff that I'm slowly getting into, and I just noticed that the bar that the outside presser foot is attached to is missing the left ear. This makes the foot sit crooked, and as such it every so often hits the inside presser foot causing all sorts of clatter. I tried looking at the parts diagram for the newer 335's, but the seem to have a 2 piece bar, while mine seems to have a solid bar. Am I missing something or is the bar different? My machine is from 1976. And a second question, is this something that I, with no sewing machine repair skills what so ever, can replace? I have rebuilt cars and such and am reasonably handy, but I've never seen such a complicated mechanism as what's inside that Pfaff.
  8. After much debate I have decided to try and sell my Ludwig 205-370 heavy duty cylinder arm leather stitcher. Due to time constraints from my job I am just not doing enough leather work anymore to justify keeping it and I could really use the room in my shop, so I will sadly let it go. This machine is an exact copy of the Adler 205-370 and operates just as smoothly as the actual Adler I tried at Weaver Leather. It is in fantastic condition and has no issues. If you're not familiar with this model, they will do everything one of the 441 / "Class 4" machines will do and run smoother while doing it. The machine includes a swing-away edge guide, an adjustable height table/stand, auto-bobbin winder, speed reducer, and a quality servo motor. I have a few different presser feet and feed dogs for it, several packages of needles, a few spools of bonded nylon thread, and several bobbins. I also have the Weaver timing device and digital copies of the Adler manuals. I am asking $1,500.00 for the machine and all the accessories I have for it. It would be a tremendous effort to break this thing down and crate it to ship because it's HEAVY and BIG, so I would really prefer local pickup. However, if someone is willing to pay for the effort required to ship it I am willing to do the work as a last resort. I am located near Huntington, WV. Feel free to ask any questions you have about it or if you'd like to see any other pictures. I am not in a bind or "needing" to sell it in any way, so I'm not going to accept any low-ball offers. If I can't get within reason of what it is worth for it, I'll just cover it up and keep it. If interested you can message me here, email me at evandailey@suddenlink dot net, or call or text at 304-six33-489two.

    Juki LU-563

A few months ago, I purchased a used Juki LU-563 from a reputable sewing machine seller in Atlanta, GA. The sewing machine, Consew analog servo motor, and table are all in great working order. There are plenty of online resources that helped me learn the machine and get started. After getting the hang of it (this is my first sewing machine experience ever), I'm not sure that it's the right fit for the products I'm currently making. Maybe another time. In the meantime, I need to recoup the expense and recover some floor space. I'm asking $1,000 for the head, table and servo motor. I'll update the post with some more pics next time I'm at the shop. Please let me know if you have any questions. I would prefer to sell the head/motor/table together, but that's negotiable. I would also prefer not to ship. I do frequently drive from Atlanta to Greensboro, so I could do a meetup/delivery within a reasonable radius of those two cities and that route. Thanks! Bill
  10. Selling a Consew 227 cylinder arm walking foot machine in the NY/NJ area. Available with older table/motor, but I will also consider shipping head only. Sews very well, has fold-back edge guide. Asking $700. Here is a link to ebay auction with pics, but I would much prefer to sell without ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/182080778647
  11. Hi! I have a Pfaff 335-H3-6/10-BS for sale in the NY/NJ area. Available with older table/motor, but I will also consider shipping head only. Sews very well, big bobbin, has fold-back edge guide. Asking $1500 OBO. Here is a link to ebay auction with pics, but I would much prefer to sell without ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/182080795475?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  12. Hey all, I recently invested a great deal of time and money buying myself an industrial walking foot sewing machine - namely an Adler 167-GK-373 walking foot. However I've found it's not quite what I had in mind for my needs. Hand-stitching is for me. As such I've decided to offer it up to you lovely people, for a good deal off what I've paid for the machine, replacement parts, upgraded motor and time to refurbish and calibrate it all. It's an Adler 167 walking foot, made in West Germany, and has been totally cleaned inside and out. A totally solid machine, consistent stitching, reverse stitching, variable pressure foot. Brilliant machine, just not for me I have also upgraded the motor to a new Servo Motor (JK-563A-1 220V 750W 1 HP SERVO MOTOR WITH NEEDLE POSITION) It also has a new feed dog, needle plate, new feet (which I've polished) and comes with all the needles (5-6 packs), threads, clippers and spare parts from the machine that I've accumulated. I live in Scotland and as such it kind of needs to be collected from me, but I can arrange for a courier at what I suspect is a bit of cost (£100+ I would imagine ish). Price I'm looking for is £1100 ono. Many thanks for looking Gordon

  14. I just ran across new Consew machine p1206RB it seams to have the same capability as 206RB-5 with the same type of feet but for $950 vs. $1250 for 206RB-5 with the table and servo motor, I like that it has built in bobbin winder. Anybody tried them? Are they OK to work with leather? I found in my area they are sold by Vasey upholstery: http://vupholstery.com/wa/p1206rb.asp , anybody have experience with this guys? Is there anybody else selling these machines in Seattle area? Thanks.
  15. Hi, I am new to sewing machine, I handsewn most of my items, I drove 3 hours to L.A. to find sewing machine that I can afford, because I heard that they can buy under 500 or little over that price for an industrial sewing machine, is there any recommendations? I mostly use 5/6 oz, 8/9 oz, 9/10oz veg tanned leather, I will really appreciate your suggestions. Thank you.

  18. Pfaff 145-H3-6/01 CLMNP $650.00 plus shipping (est $100.00) This 145 is in good working condition. I don't ship tables anymore because of trouble packing and cost of shipping. You are better buying new table, motor of you choice and reduction setup (if needed) from eBay. Machine located in Northwest New Jersey. I can pack and ship by UPS. Any question contact me. Note red plastic on top of machine is missing does not effect oiling.
  19. Hello, I am located in Calgary, Alberta Canada. I make bags using heavy canvas (usually coated with PU or oiled etc). Parts of the bags have two thicknesses of heavy seatbelt webbing sewn on. I currently use a Singer 491-clutch motor (with 69 bonded nylong thread and size 18 needle) and have to do alot of backtacking and stitch length manipulation to ensure that the strapping/handles are durable enough for the 35 pound bags. I now need to make bags that hold more weight and need to upgrade my machine to produce a durable product. I also work with leather and would like to start making leather bags and based on my research here think that the Adler 267 or Consew 206 would be a good choice/price for sewing Canvas and Leather products. I know that there are alot of other machines that would do the trick as well e.g. Pfaff, Reliable corp, Singer, Mach, Cowboy, Cobra but they seem to be really pricey. I would be perfectly happy with a super old machine that works well as long as the price is right. Servo/Sewpro may not be necessary as I am able to slow my current clutch motor machine enough for my needs. Please let me know if you have one of the above machines for sale or if you have a better recommendations and would be able to ship it here. Thanks so much, Arlene
  20. Thanks to Constabulary for identifying the OMAC 69-73; which is an Adler clone. As I said elsewhere: I'm setting up a leather workshop in Austria and am looking for the equipment I will need to do so. One of my major purchases will be a sewing machine. And I've spent a LOT of time researching this. While I'd like to think I've learned a lot, the truth of the matter is that, at this point, I know just enough to be dangerous ... to myself and my wallet. Which is why I'm posting here and elsewhere. Better to seek the wisdom of others now than to wish I had later. Since shipping from the States and the UK would add FAR more than I want to spend to the costs of the equipment, I would appreciate any info I can get on good suppliers of industrial sewing machines, other leather workshop equipment, leather, hardware, etc. in continental Europe. (FYI, I will be posting in the suppliers forum as well as here.) I would also appreciate any info anyone has on the HJighlead GC2698-1 sewing machines. I I understood the info on their Irsih/UK website correctly, they're manufactured by Mistubishi http://www.highlead.co.uk/about-HIGHLEAD.htm And from the looks of the machine, it is another Adler 69-373 clone. Pics and specs can be seen here: http://www.sunnysewingmachine.com/index.php/view-all-machines/21-cylinder-arm-sewing-machines/647-highlead-gc2698-1-small-cylinder-arm-walking-foot-sewing-machine-syncronized-binder Assuming I'm correct, it would probably do what I need to do. HOWEVER, I am not going to buy anything that I have not either seen good reviews of written by the good folks on this forum or run past ya'll. Sooooooo ... does anyone know anything about these machines? In particular, what is it a clone of: Adler? Juki? Both? Are they well made, reliable, etc. Thanks! LJ Stevens Maverick Leathers

    Consew 227

I'm looking to get rid of my consew 227. I've had it for a year now, used it to make bags and wallets. I'm in need of something that can sew thicker leather, as the 227 is comfortable at 1/4 inch. I just had it serviced at IMSCO in san antonio, and it's working smooth. New hook, stitch regulator works. It's on a custom stand with casters. $1,000.00 or best offer. I can deliver up to an hour away for an extra $50. Anything more and you'll need to come get it yourself. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c287/purezit/IMG_20150103_170309539.jpg -Alden
  22. I have a Consew 226R-2 walking foot sewing machine with a servo motor for sale. Runs like a charm. $1,000. Southern California local pick up only. E-mail me for photos or questions. Vanasemail@gmail.com
  23. Hi all, Need your help again please. I am very new to sewing machine, I found this Pfaff 335 online: http://www.valesew.co.uk I contacted the seller and was told that the machine is brand new. I am wondering if you can advise me what subclass this is, and tip on how to check if the machines are genuinely made not a counterfeit or used. How could I check that? Also where can I find technical info on this machine? I downloaded a leaflet but it doesn't say much sadly. I told the seller that I am planning to sew 3/8" max (veg tan leather + fabric) he doesn't seem to think it will take that thickness? Many thanks!
  24. Hi, this is my first post on leatherworker! I have an industrial machine, a singer, for very lightweight sewing (I had to order special narrow needles) so I am looking to buy a new machine for sewing thick leather, 5-7oz I have found some good machine heads on ebay, Consew 255B, Singer 211W115, and very old but apparently in good working condition Singer 111W115 (someone I worked for had this exact machine, also old but very beautiful and reliable stitching) My current table and motor are in great condition, the motor is a Tacsew, clutch, 5.8 amp. My question is...possibly a dumb one...but will any/all of these machine heads fit and run with this motor? I read your post about clutch vs servo, but still felt unsure about combining a different head with my existing clutch. Thanks in advance! here is a photo of my motor.
  25. Hello everyone, My first post ever. I am very new to leather crafting, so forgive me I do not speak mechanic language. I have decided to join this forums after reading Wizcrafts's The Type Of Sewing Machine You Need To Sew Leather I learnt a lot from it but I cannot make up my mind which machine that will be suitable for me. Here is my situation: I am sewing leather bag, purse, clutch bags, tote bags etc, using 1-5oz leather with fabric so about 1/4" including the fabric lining for the body, about 3/8" max for straps/handle/thick joints I use veg tanned top grain leather (not sure if that makes any difference to picking a machine?) I am based in Ireland so I have very limited options/choices available to consider I have decided a cylinder arm, walking foot with compound feed will be good for my needs, so I have ruled out any flat bed or post arm machines. I am seeking your advice/opinion on the following machines, one of which I will (hopefully) end up buying: Durkopp Adler 669 - 180010 E3 Durkopp Adler 69 / 069 subclass unknown (Used) perhaps you can tell by this photo? It was listed with 6 months warranty. Highlead GC2698-1BN Highlead GC2268 Consew 277R-3 Juki TSC-441 Juki DSC-244 / DSC-245 / DSC-246 - I don't know what the differences between these three are?? They have the same info on seller's website Juki LS-1341 Can you please let me know what you think about the above and based on my requirements and which would you prefer to go with if it was you? And if not to much to ask, can you also help me with the following questions: what machine needle and thread size is suitable for stitching double layers of veg tanned 4-5oz leather straps/handle? what needle and thread size is best for single layer veg tanned 4-5oz with medium weight fabric? I have been hand stitching and as much as I enjoy hand stitching I would love to get the basic putting the pieces together done quicker on a machine. Many thanks in advance.
