  1. Cobra Class 4 Sewing machine for sale because life has gotten too busy. I won't have time to use my sewing machine over the next year due to work and want it to go to a good home. I have only used it about 1-2 hours total. In like new condition. Will include 9 misc spools of thread from Leather Machine Co. & 3 packages of 160/23 (10pcs) needles. I have the original box as well. Kept inside my house since the day it arrived. This is a local pickup only. I live in Redwood City, California and work from home so very flexible with timing. I do have a bad back so you would need to arrange a friend to assist with the lifting. Cash only, will entertain reasonable offers depending on interest. 2. When I am top stitching a canvas bag on my Consew 206 RB-3, and go from 4 layers of 18oz waxed canvas down to 2 layers, I get 1 or 2 normal stitches, then my stitch length goes from 8 stitch per inch to 18-20. It's getting hung up somehow and I've tried so many things at this point, I am ready for a fresh start. I welcome any opinions as to how I can resolve this. I have several other 206's that appear to be similarly set up and they do not have this problem. Thanks! ---Chris
  3. I just recently purchased a REX 11-155R I've been trying to get it to work for over a week and am having an issue with the top thread being shredded and not being able to set the top tension properly. At first it shredded very quickly so I removed the shuttle for inspection and sure enough found a "spur". Using emory cloth I removed the spur and polished the shuttle back to a high lustre and ultra smooth finish. Now I can sew a foot or two before the thread shreds. I'm using #92 Thread with a New #22 needle. As for the tensioning I have polished the discs and they are fine. If I adjust the tension to a light setting it seems to work better but then I get loops on the bottom due to not enough tension to pull the bobbin thread up and lock the stich into the material. If I Set the Tension higher the shredding begins sooner and it still does not look as though the bobbin thread is being pulled up into the material. I think the bobbin is adjusted about right. When I do the "Yo Yo" drop it will drop about 1" with a medium yank. I've never had a Walking foot machine but have worked on both sewing and mechanically on a Tacsew Straight stich machine and can set the Hook Timing etc. on it with out fail and it works perfectly. This Walking Foot has me Over a Barrel. I just can't seem to get it to sew with out shredding the thread. I use the same thread on my TacSew Machine and it works perfectly. I'm hoping one of the experts here on the forum might have some insight to help me figure this out. I read somewhere you can't BREAK these old machines but...Mine seems to be BROKEN!!!! H E L P!!!!! Mike
  4. I'm trying to get the most machine for my buck and have researched and tested out many machines. If I can't find a good deal on Craigslist, I'll drive down to Toledo and buy a machine from Bob. I need a walking foot machine with reverse for thinner leathers, but mostly for bags/purses made with thick canvas, vinyl and padding - in some areas 3/8"-1/2" thick. I need a machine that I can use a right-angle binder with and do controlled delicate work on. Locally a few machines stand out I'm trying to decide on: Adler 867 M-class machine with table and clutch motor (I'll need to buy a servo) for $1,500. He said it's about 5 years old. Juki DNU-1541S basically brand new with clutch motor (would need to buy servo) for $1,400. Juki LU2210-6 220v machine used in upholstery business for $900 - says I'd need an inverter and small air compressor for home use. I know I can get the 1541S from Bob for a bit more, but are the other 2 a steal of a deal I shouldn't pass on? Thanks in advance!
  5. Nakajima 280L Walking Foot Industrial Sewing Machine Up to 2/3" foot lift Sews forward and reverse Needle is 135 x 17 Large bobbin (side loading type M paper bobbin optional) Made in Japan Includes welting and cording/zipper foot Machine is in fine working order. You are buying the Head, Stand and Motor. I recently found a Nakajima 280L walking foot sewing machine in a sewing machine repair shop. It had been there for years and they were eager to sell it. It has been tuned up by their industrial sewing machine mechanic and runs beautifully. This is the same model of machine that I use to do most of my sewing for garments, upholstery, and lighter weight hard goods. The machine comes complete with: Power table with bobbin winder and accessory drawer. Clutch Motor 4 M sized Bobbins Thread Stand One packet of 135x17 needles size 125 Bobbin winder Knee lifter Gooseneck worklight Operating Manual in PDF format Cone of thread pictured with machine is not included, it was there simply to show the quality of stitching. If you want, I can add the foot lever reverse feature that I made for my own Nakajima 280L. it is a second pedal next to the motor pedal. you step on both together and it engages reverse before engaging the motor. I will have to price out the additional pedal, webbing and spings needed to add this feature before I can quote you a price though. Very handy feature that allows you to keep both hands on your work, or onew hand on the work and one on the wheel while you put the machine into reverse. Pick up is available in Wildomar, CA for free, or I can deliver it in the Inland Epire, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego County, or Ventura County areas for a fee depending upon how far. Shipping can be done via FedEx Ground. I can ship just the head to save you money, or I can disassemble the table and remove the motor and ship it all in separate boxes. Cost of shipping will be determined by what options you choose and delivery location. I can also palletize it for pick up by a freight company if you prefer. Asking price is $850. Reasonable offers considered. The machine pictured is actually my current machine. I will sell you either one you prefer. My current machine is on an old singer "H" leg stand with a Singer clutch motor, the newer one is on a much newer "L" leg stand with a newer clutch motor. Both tables have accessory drawers and bobbinwinders. The newer machine head looks almost identical, with a bit less of the powder coating worn off on the front of the machine head. I'm just waiting on pics of the newer machine to arrive.
  6. Hey everyone, I just got this new to me Consew 226. super psyched about having this hoss.. I had to take it apart a bit to get it back to my shop, and now I'm hooking the presser foot lift back up and running into an issue. Check out the attached pic where I tried to point everything out. But basically its not hooking in right. That vertical bar coming up from the bottom is what is attached to my foot pedal. It somehow attaches to the lever that lifts the walking foot and that's my issue. I'm not 100% sure how it should attach. I think it should somehow attach to that piece on the body, but its on the wrong side. What would be really great is if someone out there with a 226 would just take a pic of theirs and I could go from there.. Thanks! Todd
  7. Hello! I am simply wondering if anyone has used or knows anything about the quality of Highlead machines? I have found very little material on these machines. Do they need constant repair? Do they perform as advertised? Are they as cost effective as other similarly priced machines? I am currently doing research for my first walking foot machine and have been looking at the GC0618-1SC. Here is a link to the site I found it on. http://www.sewingmac...gc0618-1-sc.php Any reviews or information would be greatly appreciated!

  10. Hi gang, I started [trying to] sew leather handbags about 6 months ago and have been lurking here ever since to get a better feel for industrial machines and which one I need. I feel like I already know you all! I live in the southwest, not exactly a hotbed for used walking foot, cylinder arm machines... So I've been keeping my eye out for a Pfaff 335/Consew 227 head to have shipped here, for my local sew-n-vac guy ("Joe") to put on a table with a servo, hoping to get it all done for under a grand - I'm a little skittish about investing any more than that before I know what I'm doing and where my business is going to go. I figure anything I buy will be near impossible to resell around here if I change my mind. For what it's worth I'm sewing up to 4 layers of ~2oz leather, nothing too burly, plus some occasional upholstery fabrics and sunbrella. I have an older domestic Bernina that is great for anything lighter. But then! Joe comes into a Brother LS3-C53 (I think it's a C53B), which he'll install and purty up for me for $1500. It is one sexy beast. Older but very lightly used. A bit more machine than I was looking for or need, but I'd have the advantage of buying something I've met in person, from someone local. I've googled pretty thoroughly and haven't been able to find a manual on it or any specs, although I know it's in the same general class as Pfaff 345 / Consew 227. My questions: - What are its specs? (clearance, bobbin, needle/thread size range)? Joe says "it will work for what you want to do", ok I know that, but I want details. - What will it be like finding finding parts, feet? Is it interchangeable with other makes? - Anything else I should ask? I've looked around and think this is a great price, but spending $500 more than I budgeted is a big deal for me, especially if this is heavier duty than I need. I really don't mind sewing on a clunker til I know what I'm doing. Thanks so much for any thoughts. Hopefully I'll have finished work to brag about soon! -joy

  12. I got a tow sets of zipper feet for a Juki 1541S from eBay. $20.This is the first time I'm buying a walking foot from eBay and I'm really not happy with the quality of this feet. The needle foot does not meet the plate in a 90 degree angle and the foot seems to be to wide for the feed dog too. Did you buy parts like this from e-bay and what was you experience? do you buy always original parts? Cheers Martin
