  1. Looking to buy a Cobra class 4 or 26. Located in Southern California, budget $2500
  2. Should I have just said a Juki clone? Long time lurker, first time posting here, so please be kind. I know @Frankqv has a nice setup for his Cowboy 3200 for sale with press, drill, and hand skiver, but I am really looking for something with a 7/8” capability. You know what they say…don’t buy a machine that is already at your max, because you’ll need something bigger. So true… I currently have a Cobra Class 20 that I like, but I’m being asked to fix tack that is quickly getting beyond the machines capacity. I’ve scoured the usual sites, but have yet to find one close enough that would be less expensive than buying new. This is something I do to help out a local stable that teaches kids to ride, so I fix their stuff for free. My work is ugly, but it does what it is supposed to and I’m getting better. Would love a Cobra Class 4 to match the 20, but at this point I’m not picky! Please let me know if you have something that fits the ask and you are in Central Florida! Ocala, Orlando, Tampa. Thanks!!
  3. Hi. I just picked up a nearly new Cobra Class 4 that has only this one right presser foot. I am looking for any unused from your premium package or a source for various types of feet. I am also looking for the edge guide or suggestions for a drop down. Thanks
  4. "Cobra 4" package, some use but "like new". Includes all feet, roller edge guide installed, and flatbed "work platform" has never been out of original packaging. Have original box/formed packaging for this machine. To see list of "add ons", it's this one -- https://leathermachineco.com/product/cobra-class-4-p-premium-package/ Machine in eastern Iowa for pick up. First $2500. I don't hang out here - contact Jeff for questions, more pics, or videos of this machine running. Note if you're a belt and/or holster maker, I probably have some other items of interest to you (not included with this package).
  5. Looking for a nice, used cobra 4 sewing machine! Does anyone know of someone who could help? I live in Columbus Ohio. if you have one you want to sell, please let me know!
  6. Hi All, I recently joined LW because it always popped up whenever I do searches on any leather related stuff, and so I just had to join. I have been doing leather work off and on now for about 2 years and have been doing my stitching by hand. My past experience include some holsters, mostly for smaller pistols (ultra carry, compact type stuff) and bought me-self some blue guns for moulding. I've also done some Dog collars, camera straps (I'm a photographer by profession) and belts. So far these are the only leather work I've done and most of my "orders" are for camera straps since I'm a member of a few local photography club. I can get away with riveting on all my straps but sometimes having it stitched is a nice option to offer as well. So having said that, I searched and researched for a sewing machine, and from what I read in the forum I always see the Cobra Class 4 (or at least it always pops up whenever I do a search). I highly considered the Tippmann Boss, but from reading all the negative reviews I'm passing on it and going straight to an electric machine. I went to the website (www.leathermachineco.com) and emailed to ask a question, but didn't get a reply back and it's been a couple days or so already so I called today (a woman picked up, instantly forgot her name, sorry) and after telling her my spiel she said to leave my name and number and somebody else will call back. Well, I'm a very impatient person so I just went here. I see the Cobra Class 4P, with some added accessories and the 4 Standard...nice machines, but what about the Class 3? How is it different from the Class 4 except for the arm length? With my background on what I do, should I just go with the Class 3 instead of the Class 4 or should I just go with the Class 4? My wife told me to just get the Class 4P and be done with it, but I'd like to ask second, third and fourth opinions. I'm highly considering other machines as well since I didn't get an answer back from my email, I'm really a very impatient person and I'm looking up on the Cowboy and TechSew right now (Cowboy CB4500 and TechSew5100) Any and all input is much and greatly appreciated! Jomar
  7. Hello, As I continue to set up and use my new Cobra 4 sewing machine I have been speaking with the Leather Machine Co. to figure out a strange issue. I thought I would also put it up on here in case others have had the same problem, or in case we find a good solution, in which case - we can all benefit! Upon installing either the stirrup plate or holster plate, it is apparent that the needle comes down very close to the right hand side of the slot. On the holster plate the needle pretty much touches the right side of the slot. This is with the plate installed as far to the right as possible. In the instructions it says to have the needle more to the left side of the slot when using any of the plates. Basically a business card thickness between the left side of the slot and needle is necessary. If it is in the center or to the right of center you risk skipped stitches or frayed thread. - So far they have sent me out a new needle clamp that screws up into the needle bar. The new clamp did not change the position of the needle at all. - I then made a suggestion that perhaps the stirrup plate and holster plate need to be ground down on the right side to allow more play when installing. My reasoning is because the needle seems like it comes down center or just off right of center of the feed dog (when installed), and that the top stitch plate seems to be installing just fine as per instructions. I only have issue with the holster or stirrup plates. I am still waiting to hear back about that suggestion for grinding the plates down, I certainly don't want to patch something when there is a better way to adjust/fix though. Anyone else had to grind the plates down to fix their placement on these Cobra 4 machines? I'll keep updating as I hear back.
  8. For sale cobra 4 dream machine king cobra and a brand new never used clicker. All of these items are in Middleport Ohio. They used to belong to a member here Cheryl Crossan who died unexpectantly. The cobra is basically brand new used about twice. $2100.00 for both. Clicker comes with two maybe three dies. The clicker is a 12 ton. There are numerous other tools and leather up for sale also. Pm me if interested. Leather Wytch
  9. I have a fairly complete leather studio for sale. I opened my business about 5 years ago, and it's time to move on to something else. Included in the sale is basically everything I have (which I'm not going to list in detail here, but if interested, I can give much more detail including pics, videos or a personal visit if you're local). Items included: Leather Machine Company Cobra 4-P. This machine was purchased new in 2014 and is in excellent condition. (http://www.leathermachineco.com/shop/cobra-class-4-p-premium-package/) Heavy Duty Large Worktable, with cutting surface. This table I built myself and is a beast. It is about 4x8 and includes a full surface cutting board. 45-50 Blue guns and Aluminum cast dummy guns. I can give you an exact list of the models I have. These cost around $50 each (plus shipping) new (roughly $2200 value). Numerous hand tools, including high end cutters, edgers, punches, etc. Lost of hardware including buckles, rivets, chicago screws, belt clips, etc. I have 2-3 full to partial hides of Herman Oak B/C grade tooling leather. I have about a 1/4 hide left of elephant (honey vintage), which takes a beautiful die from both light brown and black. I have a tub full of exotic scraps (elephant, alligator, shark, a small amount of ostrich, etc.) I have a half tub full of 8-10oz latino leftover. I have 2 tubs of cowhide scraps and about a 1/4-1/2 tub of horsehide scraps. I have a new branding iron as well, you'd just need to have your own logo made (or if you'd like to take my logo, you could do that as well). I'm not really selling the business name, mostly because I don't feel it's worth anything, and also because it's my last name, but if someone wanted the name/domain, I'd be ok with parting with that as well. This sale is basically for the entire set of my tools and supplies for a small leather business. Everything is in excellent shape and I have much more invested than I expect to get out of it. Asking $4500 for everything. Please email (talktochad@mac.com) or call (727-482-1258) for further information. I'm located in Fort Worth Texas. - Chad
  10. Hey you all with my cobra4 craigslist find I picked up earlier this year, I didn't have to tune much at all with it and kept with the 277 thread size though replaced with poly. I did find replacing the old spool of thread did everything I had issue with in the stitch tension issue, off n on every 3". I'm positive it had a catch in the spool somehow so not being any particular type thread thing. So anyway getting a few more chances to put some leather under it, I have found with some earlier adjustment. Here goes, that even though I have top tension backed off and flush with thread end, seriously. Lower tension knob a thread from being flush, the machine with some tuning sews good with what I been messin with 5oz to 5layers of 8oz with just messin around stuff. My gripe is, in a sense if I have any The shuttle tensioner, screw is tight and I actually have no adjustment (knock on wood) as mentioned before it runs a pretty good stitch. I have kindly started to remove it, tweak it with no results. I guess I have not bent it enough in any way and am still at max with the screw tightened on re-assembly thinking I may have some change, nope. So with the need for some fine adjustment with whats been mentioned. I am now getting around to order another, as this part may get all jacked up before I'm done bending it. And this may be a time to just bend another instead. I thought this is a great time to just ask your opinions and for sure feel free. Thanks Floyd
  11. Selling my Cobra 4-P Leather sewing Machine sold by the Leather Machine Company. Pictures and all included can be viewed here: http://www.leathermachineco.com/shop/cobra-class-4-p-premium-package/ I am the second owner of this machine. I purchased it with very little to no hours on the machine, and it was ever so lightly used. I have used it a total of 30 hours. It runs well -no issues with it at all. I will include a few extra spools of thread and extra needles that I have. I am moving across country and cannot take the machine with me. I am asking $2200 I live near Portland Oregon. Buyer will need to arrange pick-up or shipping(which is not included in cost), and payment for purchase is due immediately, Cash, via Paypal or Credit card (can process thru my Square). Would like to sell asap- so no holds. Thank you for looking! Please text me for any questions as I have internet only at library( since I am moving) 360-355-2903 (Tara)
  12. Hey guys! Im a noob here, first post. I recently acquired a Cobra 4 from the leather machine co. picked up from Dave about a month ago. Now my problem is that when I sew my knots pop up on top for about 4-5 stitches then they disappear for another 4-5 then they reappear. Please understand I am just learning how to drive this thing. Never used one before. is it me pushing or pulling the leather? or is this a tension problem? thank you guys! Frank
  13. I bought a Cobra 4 a couple of months ago. It's brand new and needed a little adjustment when it arrived to get going. Things were going great until three weeks ago. When I returned from a convention in Texas, problems ensued forcing me to hand stitch the projects I have waiting. I contacted Steve, but we don't have a resolution yet. Here are my issues I can use help with. Presser Foot: It is coming up as the needle is traveling upwards at the end of stitches. Needle: Bending on shuttle and breaking. I've had to force the needle up higher to see the end in the window. I've been using channel locks and a lot of elbow grease to get it done. This cannot be the best way but is necessary. Bobbin: I can pick up the bobbin thread with my needle when initially change out the bobbin, but after that, nothing. I find myself just poking a lot of holes in my leather rather than stitching. I'd be grateful for any assistance. I have projects customers are waiting on, but I'm having to hand stitch everything from chinks to holsters, saddle skirts and harness. Thanks, Philip Crabtree www.CrabtreeSaddleWorks.com
  14. For all those who have asked me for the Juki TSC 441 adjustment manual and partlist. I have just managed to recover these manuals from a broken down PC and uploaded them here. Free for download for our members personal use. Enjoy Tor TSN-421&TSC-441EM00_e.pdf ai0cjh00.pdf
  15. Would really appreciate some help in resolving a problem that I've been having with my Cobra 4 stitcher. I know I probably am not using the right words to describe a problem that I'm having but my bobbin hook doesn't line up with my needle as the needle starts to come back up and I'm having a problem with skipped stitches. My hook isn't lined up and I don't know how to move it into the right position. The bar holding the needle is in the right place when it is in full up position, but the hook on the bobbin assembly isn't and I can't move it either... so that is my question how do I line the bobbin hook up so that the timing of the bobbin is correct. I am just trying to get it into proper position to correct the stitching problem Thanks Debbie
  16. I assume I can sew #69 thread on my Cobra 4, but I am not sure of the correct needle - something like 110/18 or 120/19? I usually use 794S or LL points with larger thread and needles, but I cannot seem to find a source for this needle system and smaller size. Any suggestions on size and supplier?
  17. I just received my Cobra class 4:) never owned or even used a sewing machine before. its a challenge, but what I would like to know is, how do I make using this easier? I hand stitch everything, so when I received my tax return, I bought the cobra. no telling when an opportunity would allow me another chance, so I jumped. is there any advice on practices or even places that instruct on this matter:) I have tons of crap, and soon that will run out at the rate I'm going. I only ask, because I really don't want to learn poor habits, instead id like advice of some good habits to build on. Thank you:)
  18. Greetings... Recently purchased a used cobra 4P with very little use (lucky me!). It was delivered and set up by previous owner. All manuals except CD was included. Was told no directives were supplied for servo motor(tn-411). I created some issues trying to fool with the servo motor not knowing what the @$% I was doing. I wrote cobrasteve, and he emailed me that day only with instructions on how to set the RPM and reverse the motor. Very thankful for this-because it worked! That being said, I have worked with the manuals fine tuning (as much as I can) the machine. I did manage to start a project, but I am a standstill as the needle is now not going through the thicker leather (approx 3/8 inch). My intuition tells me it is my servo settings? I could be wrong.. I am using a 24 needle and 277 thread top and bottom. Both belts turn, but needle will not go through. It is like the machine has lost all of it's strength. I did write Steve again with my challenge, and like many of us, probably is taking the weekend off...understandably. Wondering if you all my have a suggestion for me as I want to work today on my project if I could. Also, in my search for servo motor settings (online and in forums), I cannot find directives anywhere for the servo motor settings for this machine. Thought if I started this thread, those who are newbies like me might be able learn without having to reach out to Steve so much. Can someone fill in the blanks for me? S1 S2 S3 S1 L1,L2,L3,L4 ----- Ramp speeds? what are these for? S2 SP SE? the second is reverse, what is the first setting? S3 Numbers for motor speed RPM Also, I would love to hear suggestions on servo motor combo settings for different leather thickness and speed. Gratitude to you all for your collective experience! ~Tara
  19. Here is an example of my new cobra 4-p -reverse three stitches to start(back tack) -then forward 19 stitches in the same first three holes -then reverse nine stitches in same holes hope this is what some of you guys wanted to see….. The brown thread was test sewing using the roller edge guide. two 12 oz pieces of veg tan leather, 277 natural thread top side of stitching bottom side of stitching I have done no adjustments to get the stitches in the same holes, just flicked the lever up. 20. I am saddened as I have to sell my Cobra 4 premium package and extra thread included. This machine has been used maybe 4 times and now I have to move. Unfortunately I cannot find a mover who will move it and it breaks my heart. This cost me about $5000. There is extra threads and all the plates and needles for it. Will sell for $4500 obo.
  21. Hello! I am in desperate need of some good advise and I think I have found the place. I am a beginner in the leather world however would love to be expert one day. I am over trying to fight my home sewing machine to sew lightweight leather with sad results. Right now I primarily work with handbags, large bags, etc- that is where my main interest lies but I would like to try some light shoes such as sandals or accessories however I wont be doing saddles or boots etc.... Im not sure where leather may take me in the future. I want a good reliable machine and so far after much reading seems like I continue to be pointed toward a Techsew 2750 or a Cobra 4. My concern is that I may outgrow the Techsew however worry that the Cobra 4 may be too much machine.. Am I over thinking the machines? Any advise would be appreciated!!
  22. Hello Everybody, I recently bought Juki 441, which is in quite great condition, its works very well and in perfect shape. I noticed, while using Biggest needle (NM 280, 28 Size needle), the needle start hitting with shuttle, it doesn't happens with small size. #Does anybody know, what is wrong with the machine? I also noticed, when needle starts penetrating the work piece, the needle move towards right side ( within the allowable space in the center presser feet. Is it common with machine, which uses long needle? Any suggestion to comment would be greatly appreciated FYI, I used 19, 25 & 28 size needle so far.
  23. Good morning! I have been using my Cobra 4 to sew holsters and knife sheaths for a little while now, and I just got induced to start making horse tack. The Cobra 4 instructions say to remove the feed dog and install the narrow slot needle plate, along with the adjustable guide wheel. I have done all that and when I try to sew, the leather doesn't move. I'm sure the solution is something simple, since this is a popular machine, but I'm not sure what to do. The machine comes with a holster plate, which I tried some time ago with the same results and a stirrup plate that I haven't bothered to mess with. I am hoping somebody out there can give me some hints on how to make these accessories work. Thanks for any advice!! -Steve
  24. Hi all, I'm new to this forum and just got a Cobra 4. What a machine. I picked it up from the shop last week and have been using it a few days. I actually initially went on this forum to fix a previous problem so thank you very much for the help already Anyways here's the problem and some questions: https://www.youtube....player_embedded I began having the thread jam yesterday while working on a messenger. I would get maybe 10 stitches into the thing and the thread would begin to twist a bit and kink and then a couple stitches later it would skip a stitch. I'd stop and fix it and then go on. The third time though it really jammed and I had to remove the shuttle hook and bobbin. I took out the jammed thread and put it all back together and now the problem is that the top thread won't hook the bobbin thread to take it up and out. I took a video of the thing and will post a link. After maybe 20 tries it finally hooked it but when I began stitching, the top thread wouldnt hook the bobbin thread and it only punched holes. So if you guys could help me out with this problem of it not picking up the bobbin thread and whatever is causing the thing to not stitch properly (the same problem I assume) I would greatly appreciate it. Couldnt get a word back from the Leather Machine today and ive got some projects I'd really love to be working on right now. Thanks so much.
  25. Greetings! I got great help when I was trying to figure out how to use the strap plate on my Cobra 4, so I thought I'd give the mob a shot at another Cobra question. I'm still working on that first halter, between Honey-Do list items, and I am wondering about sewing in the rings. The machine comes with a foot that Steve from Leather Machine Company says is for sewing "right up to something." I have tried it out, and I don't see any difference in the profile of the foot, its length, or any other aspect of the thing that gets me any closer to the ring. Any thoughts on the subject? Any advice in sewing up to the ring or buckle would be appreciated. I'm considering going to hand stitching, since none of the stitch lines are longer than about 2 inches on the single layer pony halter. However, I'm doing a double layer halter next, and reallllly don't want to hand stitch that. Thanks in advance! -Steve
