  1. Hello all, I am looking for a cobra class 4 or equivalent Cowboy machine . I am located by Olympia, Washington st, and am willing to travel to pick it up. also looking for a skiving machine but I want to get a sewing machine first. thank you John
  2. I purchased a Cobra Class 4 a few months back from a 3rd party and I was just having an issue with the bobbin tension. I removed the bobbin case from the machine to tighten the tension and discovered that there was no bobbin case set screw. Im not sure if it had fallen off prior to having it. Either way I need a new one to put in. Is there any way to get a replacement from a hardware store? I have a lot of orders to process, and I didn't want to have the machine out of service to wait for a new screw to arrive. For the one screw its $21 to have shipped to me.
  3. Should I have just said a Juki clone? Long time lurker, first time posting here, so please be kind. I know @Frankqv has a nice setup for his Cowboy 3200 for sale with press, drill, and hand skiver, but I am really looking for something with a 7/8” capability. You know what they say…don’t buy a machine that is already at your max, because you’ll need something bigger. So true… I currently have a Cobra Class 20 that I like, but I’m being asked to fix tack that is quickly getting beyond the machines capacity. I’ve scoured the usual sites, but have yet to find one close enough that would be less expensive than buying new. This is something I do to help out a local stable that teaches kids to ride, so I fix their stuff for free. My work is ugly, but it does what it is supposed to and I’m getting better. Would love a Cobra Class 4 to match the 20, but at this point I’m not picky! Please let me know if you have something that fits the ask and you are in Central Florida! Ocala, Orlando, Tampa. Thanks!!
  4. This post I have done to assist buyers of the narrow needle plate sets we developed here in Australia for the Cowboy CB4500, Cowboy CB3500, and most other 441 clone machines including the Techsew 5100, and Cobra Class 4. Many of these machine owners have now purchased these sets and couple have reported back some rubbing issues when changing over to the new plate. In most cases their machines are set up well but occasionally some machines over time get a little out of ideal alignment with how either the needle centres into the fee dog or the feed dog locates into the needle plate. These instructions should help for any needle plate feed dog relationship alignment issues on these machines, whether it is for the standard needle plate feed dog set or our Narrow needle plate combination set. For those of you that have not seen the narrow needle plate set in use and what they can do you can see some here in this video link - https://youtu.be/a83lCJe4JKo or this one - https://youtu.be/wdloxyjeB1w You can see more on these plates in this earlier post I made here - The next video I will do is to show the drop down guide for these machines and how easily they can be installed and why they can be a better choice. Follow my Channel if you want to catch more like it.
  5. For sale Cobra Class 4 Machine. Has 16" cylinder arm, 7 bobbins, 2 packages of various sized needles,, edge roller, 11 various spools of thread, leather, and an electronic variable speed servo motor. Asking for $2200 Was purchased new in 2018 Unfortunately, it is way too much machine for my needs and am looking to scale down. My loss could be your gain. Local pick up or you arrange shipping only. St.Charles, Missouri area. Please call, text, or email for details. 636-734-7124 support@spinaf.com
  6. Hi All, I am on the market for a new sewing machine and I am pretty certain that I am going to go with the Cobra Class 3. The one thing I am hung up on is the threading options. All of my work has been hand stitched. I am a big fan of Tiger Polyester Braided Thread Waxed (Ritza 25) sold by Abbey England supplier. Question: Can waxed braided polyester thread be feed through these machines? - What nylon thread is similar to the braided polyester? - Should I just spend the extra $700 dollars and get the Cobra class 4, or can I get away with the class 3? I make rifle scabbards, knife sheaths, belts, bags. I think that the CAMPBELL Lock-Stitch and UNION Lock-Stitch can run other types of thread, but I have read that they have a steep learning curve, in limited supply and pretty pricey - so those machines are not currently an option. I have no experience with these machines so it will be an adventure, but I want make the right choice. Thanks!

  8. So I’ve been searching for a machine to help speed things up with projects I have going on. And also allow me to tackle bigger projects I’ve been putting off due to the amount of time it would have taken to hand stitch. Almost bought a cowboy 3200 a few weeks ago but held off thinking something might show up locally. Well it did. I found a new never used cobra class 4 with all the extras a few miles away. Guy said make an offer I told him I had $2000 and he said come get it. It’s now in its new home and works like a champ. Has to be one of the best deals I’ve ever come across at least to my benefit.
  9. Hello, I am in Prairie do Sac Wisconsin and use a Cobra Class 4. I broke a needle and threw off the timing. After numerous hours on the phone with a technician, I still cannot get the machine’s timing calibrated correctly. I had to send the machine back to California. I’m now going to lose weeks of sewing for the Christmas season. Does anyone know if this machine has a manual for servicing the timing or knows a technician in the Madison WI area?
  10. Hi, How economically feasable would you say is to buy an leather sewing machine like an Juki TSC 441 or it's clones like the Cobra class 4/CB 4500? I have heard stories from "just with 1 saddle repair you can pay off a leather sewing machine" to "it's more like a Hobby since Prices are to low for leather goods to justify an sewing machine". In my case it's indeed more an Hobby since I make only one-to-one personal sales despite I am on etsy.com. I have seen here an constructioners harness (for hammer, nails, screwdrivers, etc) made in Mexico (Truper brand) seemingly real leather for about 6 US$. Well constructed, lots of rivets and sewn with about #69 thread. Clear is, for that Price I would never make the harness. I would rather have an Price of 49 US$. Whats the real leather market about? Considered big retailers, Made in China and local leather shops as competition.
  11. Hay guys, Anyone have experience with the cobra class 4 sewing machine? I am having trouble keeping my stitching even top and bottom from the edge. (top perfect, bottom to close to the edge or comes out the side of the edge) I'm using a left presser foot and the regular plate with feed dog. My thread is 277 top and 207 bottom - bonded nylon. I'm going through 2 layers of 8oz. leather. my stitch line is 3/16" from the edge. I also use the platform that mounts to the table stand so I can have a flat surface for my work to rest so I don't have to juggle the work and guide:) I see people using their machines on youtube to make beautiful stitches, and i would love to know how to do it also. Any advice would help, not many vids out there that show different ways for setup. I love projects that have the stitch line closer to the edges, it makes the work cleaner looking. Thank you for your time
  12. I'm selling my used Cobra Class 4 leather sewing machine. Price: $1850.00. I'm getting old and I'm into other smaller projects. This is a great machine and lightly used over the years. It's been well taken cared for and oiled regularly. It's a large unit and I really don't want to ship it, but I will consider delivering it if it's a reasonably distance, or meet half way for my expenses or it can be picked up in Kingman, Arizona. If you want to see what I've sewed on it please check out my leather instructional videos on 'you tube', search Richard BlackII for a list of my 33 leather construction videos. https://www.youtube.com/user/RichardBlackII I will include: one large spool of 277 black, one large spool of 277 white, one large spool 207 black, one large spool 207 white nylon bonded thread. 4 bobbins, 20 new needles various sizes from 22 to 25. 13. Hey all, Ive been doing some homework on a new stitcher for our shop( we make heavy harness horse tack, everything except saddles). So we need a heavy duty motor, our current Ferdco 2000 has an underpowered servo motor and no speed reducer and it gives me some trouble going thru the really heavy 12/13oz stuff( dont really want to put a new motor on it right now). Either way we need another machine to boost our production time right now. That being said..I've been looking at a few different machines and wondered everyone's opinion on each. My budget is around $3500, and id like to not exceed that if at all possible. Just looking for the good and bad of each. Hows the company's customer service if something goes wrong or breaks? Techsew 5100-SE Cobra class 4 If there are any other machines I should be looking at within my price range as well, feel free to chime in. Want as much info as possible before I "take the plunge" and get a new one. Thanks all!
  14. I have some flat-top harness maker throat plates that work with the feed dog in place and fit both Adler 205 and Juki TSC-441 class machines. I call them UTP205HM for the Adlers and UTP441HM for the 441 class of machines. They're the exact same plate. The naming difference stems from the fact that I just recently discovered that they also work on the 441 machines. The price is $59 and includes shipping within the U.S. For international buyers, please look in my Ebay store (http://stores.ebay.com/uwe) in the "Throat Plates and Feed Dogs" section. Ebay's Global Shipping Program (GSP) handles all the shipping and customs details and is actually cheaper than I can ship things directly. On the Adler 205-370 (and clones) you can use your original throat plate mounting screws. For use on 441 class machines, I'll include two small washers for under the screws (the 441 throat plate screws have a smaller head and a different thread pitch). I hope to find a source soon for screws that will work on 441 class machines without a washer. I have a limited number of these plates on hand and won't be able to order more once they're gone. I acquired them as part of a larger inventory purchase and I don't actually know who made these plates. Here's the throat plate mounted on an Adler 205-370 (UTP205HM): This picture shows the throat plate mounted on a Cowboy 4500 (UTP441HM):
  15. I've had a Cowboy 4500 for five or six years and I'm totally pleased with the machine. Recently, I've had a few questions regarding the use of the holster plate; this might be the subject of an additional post. During the last few days, I've watched A LOT of videos on Youtube. A sincere thank you to the companies that have taken the time to produce excellent and informative videos. I have two questions: My machine has a vertical rod (about 4") on the top. It was my understanding that is was necessary to route the thread through it before the adjustable tension disks. When watching the videos, I noticed that most machines didn't have this rod, routing the thread directly from the arm, above the thread, to the tension disks. Thoughts? Timing: Some videos have you move the stitch length to the maximum, while others have you set to zero before checking the relationship of the hook to the needle. Which is best/correct? Thanks for your help. Jeff Chosid
  16. Hi all, I'm wondering what the max thread thickness is for the cowboy 4500 type machines. I know they are rated at 415 max thread, but has anyone successfully used a thicker thread? Also wondering about the make up of the thread. The usual thread is twisted 3 strand nylon or polyester. Has anyone tried braided thread like the Tiger Ritza or maybe even artificial sinew, I guess the split fibres might be a bit tricky with this option. thanks Nick
  17. I purchased this heavy duty leather sewing machine in January 2012. Since then, it has been under a cover in my garage. I have kept it oiled, and it has about 5 to 6 hours of stitching max on it. I am a professional photographer and have just been growing my business over the last four years and have not had a chance to fully utilize it. It needs to go to someone who will take full advantage of it. I enjoy doing small leather goods, and this machine is overkill, so I am selling it. I am located in Virginia Beach, VA. It includes 4 bobbins, pack of needles, and white #207 thread. It also comes with the roller edge guide, table, and everything you see in the first image. $2,200

  19. I recently acquired a brand new Cobra Class 4 machine. I am having a problem with stitching with it. It will sew the first few stitches just fine but then it starts skipping stitches and then starts shredding the thread. It looks like the needle is piercing the thread as it stitches. I have the top tension almost all the way out and the bobbin tension is in the middle and yet it looks like the top is super tight. I don't want to mess with the timing without knowing what I'm doing. Anyone have any thoughts?
  20. Hey everyone, I've been quietly following the forums here for a while now and I purchased a Cobra Class 4-P based on everyone's recommendations. The machine is great, but I think I jumped the gun - I make bags and most of my work is hand stitched (you can check it out here, if you're interested) and I really only needed a machine for a few items, and is this is too much a of machine for occasional use. Anyway, I've had it since early September and it's been used for only a few hours of practice. Like new condition. I paid $2,695 + $200 for shipping (there was a shipping promo), but I'm asking $2,500 OBO, pickup only. I went with the Premium package (16 1/2 " cylinder arm), so here's what it comes with: * Left Toe Presser Foot * Open Toe Center Foot * Double Toe Presser Foot * Right Toe Presser Foot * Work Platform * Ten Size 25 7x4 Leather Point Needles * Ten Size 24 7x4 Leather Point Needles * Ten Size 23 7x4 Leather Point Needles * One 8 Ounce Spool of Thread * Holster Plate * Stirrup Plate * Slotted Plate * Blanket Set (Inside & Outside Feet w/ Feed Dog) * Heavy Duty Roller Edge Guide * Pair of Thread Nippers * LDA - 1 Magnetic LED Light * Oil and Tool Package * Four bobbins * Owner and parts manual * Instructional DVD A few needles are missing and the thread has been used, but other than that, it's all there. I'm happy to send more photos/answer questions! Thanks, Danielle

  22. Hi everyone, We have a Cobra Class 4 with the premium package and Electronic Positioning System that we are offering for sale. It has less than 40 hours of use (possibly less than 20) with many accessories that have not been used (including the unused table attachment and multiple rolls of thread). We purchased the machine in May of 2012, though have only used it minimally. As it turns out, many of the items that we currenly make either do not utilze stiching at all or utilize only hand-sewing (our website is www.fourrobins.com if you would like to see what we are currently selling). The original total purchase price was $2,850 (plus freight). I have a list of the accessories below as well as a number of photographs. The table attachment is still in bubble wrap and is not included in the photos, though I can provide one if you would like. We are located around 25 miles North of Pittsburgh, Pa, and would like prefer pickup, if possible (the freight on delivery to us was around $300.00 - I do not have a lot of experience with using this type of service). Please let me know if you have any questions or I can provide you with any additional info. Nicole Full Details: Cobra Class 4 Electronic Positioning System (approx $350 option) that allows the needle to stop up, or down, 90 degrees corners, back tack, and remove your work without having to touch the handwheel. (includes Needle position motor, Electronic synchronizer and power handwheel) Heavy Duty 16.5" Cylinder Arm Sewing Machine with Drive Unit Pedestal stand with Wheels Table Top 28 LED Superbeam Lamp 2 Spool Thread Stand Digital D.C. Servo Motor Heavy Duty SR2 Speed Reducer Drawer, Belt, all accessories and manuals and DVD We also have multiple needles (though the packages are not full) and 4 nearly full rolls (1 unopened) of Weaver Nylon Pro Bond thread. The unopened roll is Black 277. The other rolls are 207 white, 207 black, and 207 henna. The accessories and additional feet, etc. are in photo #4.

  25. To sell a machine to someone is one thing, to be able to help, provide service and send items needed fast is another.I was for a long time debating the brand, size, presser foot lift, customer service, being able to answer all my question I would have and trying to find an honest seller. I came across an add for the COBRA CLASS 4 on THE LEATHER MACHINE Company, I decided to give it a shot. I started talking with David, and then Steve, COBRA STEVE that is, and started feeling they would be poeple I would be able to trust. Next thing you know, I had made the decision to buy a COBRA CLASS 4 and get it sent to New Brunswick Canada. When it arrived, I got my machine in prestine shape due to the nice packing job that had been done! Also, everything was there as promised, nothing missing. As you can imagine, being new to this machine, I had a few questions, so I decide to call and see if the service was really what was advertized...... They took the extra step to help me with every calls I made and never hung up until I had fully understood what they meant and was ready to go! I was amazed by the friendly service that these two persons, David and Steven delivered and the quality of the poduct all together. the machine is like the Mercedes Bens of the sewing machines, followed by the best service you will ever get! I recomend this company and the COBRA CLASS 4 to any serious leather worker that is debating what they should buy! Cheers! Rino.
