Good morning! I’m looking for a ‘wide’ creaser. One that I can use to crease the edges prior to laying down the sewing line and sewing. One that will recess the thread lower than the actual wallet to reduce thread stress. I have a Vulcan electric edger, but none of the tips offer a wide enough result. I’m open to any brand tip or tool. Thank you in advance!

So I have a cheaper model Weller soldering iron that has interchangeable tips. I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck finding decorative creasing tips (similar to those expensive Regard creasers) that fit. I've looked around and it's difficult to find any tips that seem like they would fit. I think I've seen some people have found tips that will fit into those super cheap soldering pens. But those have terrible controls or none at all. Regular soldering temperature is way too high, so even on my adjustable iron I might need to ad a dimmer switch or something. Anyways, if anyone has had any luck doing this as a cheaper alternative to the very expensive electric edge creasers, please share with us what you have found. I just bought some inexpensive creasing irons that I'll need to heat up with a spirit lamp. Which is fine for now, but the electric creaser option seems to be the best. If I can find a cheaper alternative, that would be great since they are quite pricey. Thanks

Hi forum. I am brand new to leather working trying to finish up my four-month tool research. I have been trying to look into hot creasing quality I can possibly expect from a groover-creaser sets like that of Kyoshin Elle Pro stitching groover creaser. Obviously, I want to cut down costs a bit, but my main concern with a multi-purpose tool like the creaser-groover set of, say, Kyoshin Elle is whether or not the creaser is heatable on an alcohol lamp. Please note that every single comment/hint would be immensely helpful for me, as I am new to leathering and there is next to zero info on the net about this. Thank you

So I bought this machine on Etsy from a nice guy named Wayne who is probably the most responsive seller in the world. I mean considering the time difference he must have been answering my questions in the most ungodly hours of the night, offering great advice and solutions to all my ignorant questions. Because this is my first creasing machine and although I knew I wanted one, if I'm completely honest I didn't really know exactly why, I just wanted it LOL And when the crucial question came "what tips do you want with it" my response could be pretty much summarised in one word: "Derrrrrrrr......" So Wayne helped me pick five commonly used tips, and next thing he did (probably while packing with the other hand because the package was in the mail almost immediately) was email me the manual. Which of course I didn't read because I am, you know, male. And not very smart. A few days later the DHL dude knocked on my door and then ran and hid behind the fence because COVID, and was very happy to take a wave instead of a signature. At least he waited to make sure someone opened the door, so nice of him. Upon first inspection I can't tell where this thing is made (probably where everything is made these days), but FWIW it shipped out of Knoxville, Tennessee. Maybe Wayne makes them in his shed, I don't know, but it looks and feels well made. All metal outside (looks like aluminium?), I think the feet are silicone, the cable is nice and long and very flexible which is great, and it attaches very firmly to the machine with a screw flange. Woodwork on the handle and holder is pretty basic but well executed, no complaints, the on/off switch an dial are solid, big and clicky and very easy to find and operate single handedly. The whole thing is on the small side and not too heavy, which I don't mind at all because I tend to work mostly on my desk and I'm running out of space. Nice big screen, very easy to read, full of numbers that I don't know what they mean, but the operation is fairly straightforward: Turn it on, and then turn the dial until the tip is hot enough to do what you want it to do to your leather. Simples. Supposedly it has other smart features that went right over my head, but I did notice it goes to sleep if you don't use it for a while because it has some sort of vibration or motion sensor. And then when you pick it up again it turns on automatically. Nice. Wayne doesn't want me to burn my house down. In terms of how well it performs, I don't have anything to compare it to. I can tell you that the creaser definitely creases and the burnisher definitely burnishes, but I haven't tried the spatula or the polisher yet. (In the photo below please appreciate the effort of creasing with one hand while taking a photo with a DSLR with the other, the things I do for my fellow leatherworkers) Any other questions like if the thread accepts tips from other brands or if the tips are welded or soldered or friction fitted, I don't know. if you want I can message Wayne on Etsy at 3am Tennessee time and he will probably respond in 3 minutes LOL All I know is I always wanted to try one of those, but no way I was paying Regad what they're asking just to satisfy my curiosity. Hi everyone, This is my first post and I apologize if this is a question that has been asked before. I did do a search but did not find the answer. My question, is there any significant difference between using a creaser with an alcohol burner or an electrical setup? Does one work better than the other? Do you see better results or get a better finished product by using one method over the other? Thanks in advance for your opinions. -Frank

Hi All I decided to make a commitment to embark on the journey to higher ground and horse tack; including high quality show bridels of which my first project will tackle. Any advise out there? What exactly is an edge creased used for? I understand it should put a nice crease line along an edge but is it fully cosmetic? Is the a feature bonus to using one? Does my crease become my a stitch line? Am I to finish my edge before or after the crease? I am fully clueless on this tool, just needing info to find out what tools to purchase as all I have is from a cheap stitching kit off Amazon.

Well, I've been tired of using an inferior edge creaser and can't bring myself to splurge on the Vergez Blanchard model, so I've decided to make my own.... Pretty simple solid brass and beech wood design with a knurled thumb screw for adjustment. Works like a charm.

Can anyone tell me what this tool is called? I've looked around different online leather tool shops and can't seem to find it. It would be easier if I knew what it was officially called. I like the edge it produces, I just don't know what to call it. Beveler, creaser and "magic edge tool" don't seem to show this tool in any google search. Thanks in advance. Dan
