Recent project / order. Custom setup for Glock 48 with integrated spare mag pouch. Fully lined in chrome free suede. Thin blue line motif received thin blue thread as well. The final product was edge coated so no raw edges were visible, but I apparently did not save that photo...

Ive done several iwb holsters. But i didnt even know what a "claw" or wing was until a good customer asked me to make him a appendix iwb holster with a claw. I found a great claw at holstersmith.com solid aluminum instead of all the plastic ones i seen. And i went with the ulticlip xl for goin over the belt also picked up at holstersmith for less then ulticlip sells them for on there website.

Hello Everyone! I picked up leatherworking a few months ago, and this is a holster and magazine pouch I made for a longtime friend/customer of mine. I work as a gunsmith and shooting instructor, and have always put a lot of care into gear selection. I have a lot of vintage leather pistol gear, and finally decided I should start making my own. I’ve found JLS Leather’s patterns to be a world of help, and a wonderful starting place to develop and grow my skills before tackling my own designs and drawing from other sources. I love Kramer holsters, and have been using a lot of very old DeSantis holsters for a number of years (their pre-makers mark ones, and their “LI,NY” stamped holsters, probably from the 70’s-80’s), and want to recreate some of their older designs and build quality. DeSantis is local, so I have seen many of their holsters for years. Any suggestions, criticism, etc would be greatly appreciated! I’ve chosen to do much of the work by hand; saddle stitched with KS Blade Punch pricking irons, cut with a Vergez Blanchard round knife, edges beveled, sanded and burnished by hand, etc. I am having difficulty using the JLS patterns regarding fitment due to stitching spacing, so I stitched the left side above the sights first, molded around the gun, then stitched beneath the trigger guard. I switched to Fiebing’s Pro Dye and it’s helped greatly over the standard alcohol dye. Leather is Hermann Oak craftsman grade. -Brian

I haven't made any holsters or gun leather in years; this is my first try after being inactive so long. I haven't made a western style holster ever so this was what i came up with. I think the leather is 7-8oz. I used an Al Stohlman buckle and concho from Tandy Leather. It's finished with fiebing's saddle tan dye and resolene top coat.

I still consider myself a novice to leather work and holster making. But I am glad to say I'm improving. I'm improving to the point I feel confident in the design and construction/durability of my holsters. I think I'm finally confident enough to switch from Tandy leather to Hermann Oak (never tried it, but there seems to be a consensus that it's high quality - usually). I made this holster from Tandy 7/8oz leather. I made it for a co-worker for $40. He seemed really happy with it. I'm particularity proud of the thumb break on this one (3rd one I've done). This is the first one where I extended the main belt loop leather up to the top of the thumb break (see back of holster photo), and then sandwiched the metal stiffener between two pieces of leather. I recessed the snap, which really streamlined the look. I had to improvise a punch for the snap recess: a 3/8 copper pipe cap was 'sharpened' and then hammered through before I applied the extended belt loop piece. I think the trailing belt loop could have been in towards the trigger a year more. I'm going to look for a little thicker thread. I used thick thread on the main belt loop and back side of the thumb break. I'm thinking something in between the two sizes I used would be better. The thin thread almost disappeared on the stitch line next to the gun. Speaking of the stitch line, I brought it in a smidge between the front of the trigger guard and the muzzle on my pattern (for next time). Any comments or suggestions for improvements are eagerly sought.

just finished this Glock 20 holster,gator, pig skin lining customer should be happy.....

Can anyone set me in the right direction by giving me some guidelines specific to this type of holster? I have made plenty of Iwb holsters. I have never attempted to make a closed bottom holster in the likes of this one before. The holster will be for a glock 30 which is very similar to the gun in the pic. Just think very fat and stubby. My problem is I don't know where to begin setting my margins for the muzzle in a holster of this type. The holster design will not be exactly like this but I do want it closed around the muzzle in a similar manner. The back of the holster will also be relatively flat, reminiscent of the modified pancake holster designs. Any help would be appreciated before I begin experimenting. BTW. To give credit where it is due.. I believe the holster pictured is made by Brigade Gun Leather.
