Hello there everyone! This is a tassel I've just made pictured above. Most tutorials I've come across say to simply glue the tassel into place. I would not like to just glue the tassel as I've made ones before that have started to peel open a bit. I attached a band of leather over the top of the tassel and attempted to hand stitch it closed . As you can see, it dosn't look too smart . Would anyone have any advice on how i could do this better? or any stitch style i could use ? or would anyone have any pictures of ones they have made which have been successful? or even any images of ones from books etc? Hi, all, I'm looking to find a decent stitch horse. Trouble is, I'm in New Zealand, and they seem to be rare as hens teeth here. So, I'm looking to find one of the following: 1) a stitch horse somewhere here in NZ 2) one from Australia, the USA, or even the UK that could be taken apart and shipped here in a box 3) decent plans for one, in order to have someone make one (and nope, not the plans from the old farm machinery book.. I have that book) Best would be to find something that could be broken down and shipped here, but I'm up for anything. I was a saddlemaker in New Mexico for many years, so I know my way around a stitch horse and want to find a decent one. Even if the seat and legs aren't in great shape, as long as the jaws and the metal draw-down teeth are usable, I'd be okay with it. I can always make another seat. Thanks a lot. best, --john

I am looking for some used European style pricking irons, 7 stitches/inch and 10 stitches per inch, not too particular on which, and would consider other sizes if the price is right. If you are looking for other tools or leather, perhaps we could work a trade. (I have caimen, ostrich pieces, veg tan, chrome tan, many tools) PM me if you have some you would like to be rid of! Hello friends, am using Ritza 25 at 1mm and am looking for a round needle for stitching in tight interior spaces. I have no experience with round needles, can anyone recommend a smaller round needle that has an eye large enough for Ritza 25 at 1mm? Many Thanks!

Hi all, I have been using Ritza tiger thread since starting up in leather work but have recently been trying out some Fil Au Chinois as there are many people who prefer this thread. The issue I have is keeping the thread in the needle, with tiger thread I can lock it in by threading the needle and then using the needle to pierce the thread and creating a knot around the eye of the needle, Fil Au Chinois is too thin and does not have a flat edge like tiger thread does, so more or less every time I pull the tension on each stitch the thread will come out of the needle, unless I have a huge amount of thread to pull through each time which would ultimately waste thread. This is the second project that I have ever done. I think the hand stitching is a bit better than the first project I started. Still had a little trouble going around the corners. Not sure if I would start from scratch with veg tan leather again, but I like the feel of it. I enjoy stitches, to me they are art when they are done right, so I like them to show really well, which is why I chose the heavy white thread on a dark background. I think most would prefer a black thread here, let me know. The color is one I came up with myself, let me know if you like it. Constructive criticism is always welcome, as I am trying to do this art well! YinTx -
I am new to leather work and i was watching nigel armitage videos. In one video he said depending on how many stitches per inch you do you should have an appropriate thread size so im curious for 7 or 8 stitches per inch on a phone case or wallet do i use the .6 mm thread or .8 or 1. Basically im looking for a general explanation so when i go up to a bag or tablet case i can know what to do. I hope this makes since im not sure im explaining myself right

I have these glove that seem to be pretty nice and a name brand, BUT the lining keeps pulling out. I've seen other gloves with a couple stitches to hold the lining in place, but it's been done with a machine. Any ideas on how I could fix this myself?
