  1. Hello, I am still relatively new to leatherwork as a hobby and I have bought all of the basic tools I need and made a few tools as well. I would love to have a set of good oblong punches but they are quite pricey! So, in your experience, if you could only have one size of oblong punch to do as much different punching as possible what width and length would it be? I have already considered making sure it is short because I can always step it forward to lengthen the punched area. Also, I have been looking at C.S. Osborne, but does anyone have any other good brand recommendations?
  2. Here are a few custom designs that I made to cut the tip/ends of leather belt straps.
  3. Custom made belt-press, tip cutter and heat press that I made. The biggest problem that I solved in this build is that I created custom alignment guides so I know where to exactly position the belt during the process. More pictures of my work is available at: https://www.instagram.com/varianibian/
  4. Oval punch in good condition $45 shipped 9C689586-FBBE-48ED-9F80-1024F8B8882D.heic
  5. Weaver self centering punch with custom dies. Asking $1400 for punch and dies. Feel free to DM any questions or reasonable offers, thank you.
  6. Like new Amy Roke Pricking Irons! Can be sold as a pair or single. The Amy Roke European style pricking irons are made of high-quality steel and have a nice weight to them. The heavier weight makes it easy to set the tool in the correct position, preventing it from moving on you. The width of the teeth are fairly thin (unlike many irons) and create a very clean, non-bulky opening for threading.
  7. #10 $15 #13 $15 Arch punches 3/8 $20 1 1/2 $60 paypal g&s plus shipping.
  8. Has anyone ever modified a manual turret punch to be used as a clicker for leather, rather than punching holes in steel? I can get a working turret punch cheap locally and was just wondering if anyone’s done this before? Pic attached

  10. Hi All, Anyone in Leather Land have, or ever use a Weaver type self centering belt punching press? Looking for something like it or one exactly like it... used perhaps. Opinions matter! For Sale? Many thanks yous in advance! Silverd
  11. I saw an old video the guy was using a hole punch with a center poking out so you could get it set in the right spot. It was over 1/4" so those a hard to line up. Does anybody know if there are any on the market today? Thanks
  12. I'd like some help on centering holes and correct spacings. When punching belt holes, I can lay out the measurements, even using templates, and mark a scribe/pin hole correctly; pleased with the spacing. So the issue comes in where I use a larger hole punch on my hand press of say 13/64" to go over a screw post stud or a Sam Brown stud. I'm having a hard time getting a large punch hole to exactly center over a single point. It makes the errors add up and some holes will be too close together while others way to far apart. I've tried the 'barely touch it to make a small indent and try again' but is there a better way?
  13. I have a customer that wants me to make 500 of these small oval shapes with two holes in the center (see photo). Is there a pre-existing tool that I can buy to punch out the oval? Do I need a die cutter? Where should I start? Thanks!
  14. I was wondering if anyone knows how the special tri-punches are called, that they use for decorating the "Budapester" shoes? I could only find an occurrence of it in this video: https://youtu.be/qDKQ29XgLWo?t=103 (at 1:43)
  15. $90 Sold as a lot, US shipping included. Great deal, the punches alone retail at $40/ea. Everything works properly, I've just upgraded some things and no longer use these tools. Great for someone getting into leather crafting. PM if interested. 16. Hi Everyone, I am in the market for a set of 8 or 9 SPI prickling iron. Having read through some of the discussion on this topic from this forum, I am interested in getting a set from Amy Roke. Unfortunately, I was unable to get anyone to respond from the seller (based on their instruction to send email). Does anyone know if there's another way to get in contact with them or a distributor/dealer? Thanks for your help in advance!
  17. Hey everyone! I've recently upgraded some tools and have the following 3 punches for sale to someone who can use them: 5/8" oblong slot punch 3/4" oblong slot punch 1" round strap end punch $75 + shipping for all 3 or $25/ea + shipping OBO. Would prefer them to go together, but will consider selling separately. Ships from NY. Nothing is wrong with them, they all work fine, I just don't use them anymore. Thanks for looking, Matt

    Wtb Leather Tools

I am a beginner leather worker LOOKING TO BUY tools. I need almost everything and figure second hand would be the best place to look first so I can put more money towards leather and hardware :D I am looking for: Stitching awl Scratch awl Skiver Saddler's Groover Edge Beveler Stitching Iron, 6 stitches per inch Stitching Iron or Overstitcher Size 8 (8-9 stitches per inch, fine stitching) Strap End Punches Rivet Setter Grommet / Eyelet Setter(s) Edger Tool Mallet / Maul Hole Punch(s) Oval Punch(s) Dye(s) Saddle / handstitching books or pattern books I would also be interested in leather! I'd like to find some latigo or perhaps harness leather. I am located in the US. Please PM or e-mail me at CheapNightmares@gmail.com with prices. I will update here as I gather tools.
  19. I have recently tried to get into leather working. i wanted to get a very small stitch on my bags (as i have seen many profesional companies using such stitches) and i wanted to know if this is possible. I have been researching into Hermes and their bags and they seem to be using very small pricking tools and stitches. However when i went to Tandy Leather the guy there told me to instead use a 4 hole punch because if i didnt the bag wouldnt be strong enough. Any Tips?
  20. Stopped into SLC today on my way back to St. louis from Joplin, MO. In addition to some mindblowing $20 side specials they have some new tools for sale. Diamond point chisels, 6,4,2 and 1 prong in a nice size, not too big or too small. Also several strap punches and rounded corner punches. The kicker, all are very reasonably priced. I bought a couple chisels for less than $20.00. I'll get some punches next time through. A 1-1/4" strap end punch for under $10.00 is a deal IMHO. Especially for those of us that only use them occasionally.
  21. Does this confuse anyone else? It seems like the dimensions of the Craftool Oval Drive Punch are all over the map, tandy's listing is confusing, I think Amazon is just plain wrong... Tandy's site can't keep the numbers straight between the item details and the drop down item selection... I purchase from Amazon Tandy Leather Craftool Oval Punch #5 9/32" x 3/16"http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039LBIDU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and get this, which is definitely definitely not 3/16 by 9/32... 5/32 mayyyybe: This is too much headache, I think I'm just going to continue to use round holes for my belts...
  22. Does anyone know where I can get a custom circle punch made? I would like one for cutting out circles in 8/9 oz leather for some coasters I'm making. I need a pretty specific size (4 1/8"), which is why I would probably need one custom made. I tried cutting one out by tracing a circle with a stencil I made, then cutting and sanding, but it took way too long to just do one coaster, let alone a whole set of coasters. I also don't want to spend a lot of money, so I am not opposed to tackling making one myself, I just wouldn't know where to start. I could use some kind of pipe, but I doubt Id be able to find something with that exact diameter. Thanks, Zayne

  24. Hello all. I have an old CS osbourne and the anvil is toast. I ordered a new one but it is for the 155 punch. Mine is not a 155 it is there old one. The anvil is smaller then the one for the 155. Would anybody know where I might be able to find a replacment. The punch is still good and I don't have the funds to replace it with a 155. Any help would be nice. Thank you.
  25. Hello, I am about to get a die cut from Texas Custom Dies. I am having them put stitching slots in the die for me to save some time on my end. Usually I use a diagonal shaped 4 prong punch to cut my stitching slots. However TCM is not able to put diagonal slots in their dies. They can only put horizonal or vertical ones in. I am wondering which is better and what are some of the issues with either I may not know of? I still want the nice diagonal looking saddle stitch, but not sure which will have the better effect. The photo below should explain it better. Thanks for the help! Evan
