  1. Put my hand up at an auction last week, bought 4 tons of leather from a Leather Factory in Lynn Ma that made high fashion handbags, portfolios and other leather goods for the travel and fashion industry. Really an amazing collection of Weights, tanning methods colors and textures. Small scraps to whole hides, various species. I am not an expert in identifying leather so if you are in the area please bring your expertise and come check it out. Prices as low as $2 per pound and $2 to $7 per square foot depending on weight finish and condition. When I say some thing for everybody I am not exaggerating. Nubec, latigo, prints, raw, oil, colors chrome etc. You can see photos and message me here at FB market place. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/386611275340297 or call or txt at 6o3 fivefive3 l49five
  2. Just seeing if there is any interest in scrap veg tan 8-10. Mostly Wickett & Craig.....
  3. Does anyone in Chicago/Chicagoland Area know where I could get some scraps/remnants? I've looked around at some places in the city and online, but am looking for some more advice/sources if anyone has any. Thanks!
  4. I closed my handbag business a few years ago, and find I still have a lot of stuff hanging around. I'm not asking much for it- just don't want it to go to the dump! What I have includes a pile of lizard skins, turkey feet, cowboy boot tops, some 1940s alligator pieces, sting rays, and more that I will find as I dig it all out. I can post some photos if there's some interest... Here's a photo of what I made with the boot tops, so you can see what they are like. I have about 30 pounds of them
  5. Hello! I’m new and just getting into leather crafting. I’m looking for some scrap that you are willing to part from. 1. Just made my first stitching pony! Looking for some leather to finish off the jaws. I need two pieces (something suitable for a stitching pony) , 4”W x 8”L x 1.2-1.5mm. 2. .8mm -1.2mm veg-tan. That will be very close to my first project. I want to practice saddle stitching, skiving, edge burnishing, slicking and all the fun stuff. Train how we fight as they say. Absolutely willing to pay for shipping and we can negotiate if there will be further requirements. Thanks in advance for any consideration. William Reno, Nevada
  6. This site has been awesome helping me rehome my hoarded leather, but I keep finding more! What I still have is about 50 pounds of cowboy boot parts (see below what I made with them); another 50 pounds or so of soft cowhide pieces from footprint size up to 3 sq ft; A few individual hides of lamb, goat, and pigskin; and a few bits of exotic leathers- snakeskin, lizard, etc. I'm not looking to get rich, just make some space! Asking about 75 cents a sq ft for the leather, 75 cents a pound for the boot tops, or less if you take more! Boot tops are some whole tops, some completed tops but still flat, and some that just have the stitching but are one layer... and a few that are motorcycle type boots with no stitching. Almost free if you take them all!!!!
  7. I am inundated with strap scraps that need a new home. Prefer to sell by the giant box full, weighing about 40-60 pounds per box. Come and see it all and make an offer for a truckload! Located in Aurora, CO. Herman Oak golden tan bridle, 8/10 oz veg tan, and 9/11 oz. struck through Black Latigo from Chahin. Most are mixed boxes, with both colors. Most leather is cut and edged, from 3/8" to 1" wide. Also plenty of random bits and trimmings from the edges of the sides. Asking $1.50 per pound, or $40 per big box. A few boxes full of ONLY the bridle leather cut to 9/16" width. This is beautiful stuff, it's just a little too short for the products we make with it. Asking $2.00 per pound, or $60 per box. Perfect for key fobs, bracelets, small projects, 4-H, scouts, crafts, etc. Remnant from dog leash/collar business (IE: nothing long enough or strong enough if this is what you want to make, because we've used what we can for this purpose). I have a continuous supply of this stuff. Feel free to reply here, but for faster reply, just give us a call. Call or text Brian three-o-three 653-184FIVE
  8. Looking for recommendations... I have approx. 100 lbs of scrap leather that I need to do something with. All 3-7 oz. All colors..Thought of grade schools and craft groups but they do not want it. Shame to throw it away..... Anywhere from a few square inches to a couple square feet.
  9. Help! I have 3 tubs total of scrap leather I have accumulated over time. 1 tub oil tan, 1 tub veg, and 1 tub chrome tanned. I have drawn a blank on what to do with it, I don't like the idea of throwing any away if I don't have too. I just need ideas on simple easy projects that don't require much time that way I can continue with my normal day to day. Key fobs are the only thing I can think of right now, but it gets boring doing just those! The pieces range from the size of a standard rounded key fob, to a large journal. any advice would be appreciated in fact any projects are welcomed easy or hard, because I hope this post might help others who are in the same boat
  10. Hi everyone, As the projects go, I get lots of small leather scraps. Very often, they end up in the trash can, which is a shame for such an expensive material :-( So I was wondering: what do you do with your very small leather scraps, let's say a few inches long, less than an inch wide? Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Sophie
  11. CHAHIN BLACK LATIGO 9/11 ounce, struck through jet black color (not just died on the surface like most). Heavy weight, superior quality, premium American hides tanned by Chahin. Asking $10 each piece of belly remnant, or 15 for $100. I have dozens available, and a continuous supply. Make me an offer for a truckload! There are hundreds of pounds. Located in Aurora, CO (Denver area). First image shows a random piece stretched out on 12" tile floor for size reference. Usually run about 12-18" wide by and about 5-6 feet long. Bellies are the bottom part of a full side of a leather hide and have some blemishes and soft spots but are excellent for craft projects. You will NOT find this quality leather at the local leather craft supply shop. (Inferior belly leather from Tandy is $30-40 each.) Tandy wants this much money for a pound of mid-grade leather scrap. Wholesale cost paid for this stuff is over $9/square foot. This really is a great price for amazing leather. Remnant from premium dog product business. Good for various crafts requiring heavy weight leather, like bags, holsters, whatever. IE: NOT for pet products, as I've used what I can for this purpose. You can post your interest here, but for faster replies just give us a call. Call Brian 303-653-184five

  13. Help! Quite some time ago i came across and article / topic on the subject of molding a handle from small bits of scrap leather and glue. I can't for the life of me find it now, I have tucked away the reference somewhere and, as to be expected, can't find it anywhere. The idea was to use shavings, scraps, dust and so on and build it up in layers, a bit like a concrete I suppose, till you got the required size and the sand it down to fit. Now I could go and spend a week trying out different glues or whatever and making a right mess getting it all wrong, or I could ask here in the sure knowledge that someone will know what I am babbling on about! Here's Hoping Claire
