Got some bellies need to move out for the space. These are cut from Hermann Oak sides when they arrived. Grade A bellies, but of course they're still bellies. We cut them off and set them to the side right off - first cut on every side we use. Then we might use a bit for a belt lining, or a knife sheath, etc... but we don't do enough small projects to use these up. Clean leather (for bellies) good for sheaths, cases, bracelets / cuffs, gun slings (I use the backs of the hide for TOOLED slings), wallets, etc.. depending on thickness. Got 4 er 5 of these... easiest for us obviously to stick 'em in ONE box, so we'd take $20 each if somebody bought all of them. No shipping is free, but we'd SPLIT it with a fella (er a gal, too). Pics before long... I'll dig out what we actually have.

Don Gonzales has just completed a 4 part series on his YouTube channel. It includes a free PDF pattern for you to download and follow along with him. He seems like a very down to earth teacher and really comes across well in his own style. I don't do any tooling yet myself, but I sure enjoyed the videos. Enjoy.

Vegetable tanned leather which is labeled a double shoulder for sale. Labeled 8-9 oz (3.1-3.5mm) leather thickness, backside is marked 12.5 square feet. I think it is probably correct. This double shoulder is fairly clean as can be seen in the photos. The backside is fairly smooth. It does show fat wrinkles and other characteristics. I have more leather than I can use right now, so I'm selling off some pieces such as this when I have the time. Labeled asTandy item #9052-02, their price $90-$99 plus tax on the label, currently $112 - $140. I'm no expert, but I don't see the filling that is used in some of the newer Tandy leathers to cover up scars and such, so this *may* be some of the older nicer leather. My price: $55 plus shipping. I am also selling another side, which is an Oak Leaf Light Skirting 10-12 oz, photos in another listing, for $115 plus shipping. Combine these two pieces of leather to save on shipping and save on leather: $160 plus shipping or best offer. YinTx I just noticed the shadow lines in the photo: it is light shining through the slats in the back of a chair, no diagonal shadow marks on the leather.

Oak Leaf Vegetable tanned leather side for sale. 8-9 oz (3.1-3.5mm) leather thickness per the label, backside is marked 25.2 square feet. (floor tiles are 18" tiles for reference). (floor tiles are 18" tiles for reference) This double shoulder has some character - a lot of visible fat wrinkles that can add some charm to your piece. Along with a few scars and such. The backside is very smooth. I have more leather than I can use right now, so I'm selling off some pieces such as this when I have the time. Appears similar to Tandy item #9050-82, their price $70-$109 plus tax. My price: $55 plus shipping. I am also selling a larger, cleaner shoulder, photos in another listing, for $70 plus shipping. Anybody can use A-grade single shoulders? At the moment, I need the SPACE more than I need the leather! I'll post a sketch here of what is available, and if there's any interest I'll get pics of the ACTUAL piece(s) you'll get later today. Single shoulders, cut from Grade A cowhide backs (no bellies). I certainly have some, lemme know what type of square footage you need and I may be able to cut one larger for you (sorry, not interested in cutting them smaller). Oh, to clarify - these are about 7 sq ft (32" x 32" -- ish, not including the neck, which I'll GIVE you). A- grade @ $10 / ft

Hermann Oak "A" grade SIDES currently running $7.66 per foot, making whole sides about $190 U.S. Hermann Oak "A" grade BACKS (no belly leather) currently running $9.11 per foot, or about $175 U.S. I say "about" prices because depends on actual footage of the piece... sides about 25 ft and backs about 19 ft.

Hi all you lovely informed leather workers! I am new to leather crafting, and have been getting really into carving and tooling. I really like the suppleness of milled leather for the kinds of bags I am using, and just wondering if anyone has a source for this kind of leather outside of Tandy. The leather I've gotten from Tandy has been nice, but I would love to find a more affordable/wholesale place to purchase, or just any alternative. Any leads or information would be wonderful! Thanks! Hi y'all! Attached is my finished first attempt at figure carving as well as incorporating the Mexican Basketweave lacing technique. I learned a lot during this process mainly what not to do next time. I.e. I will make rounded corners on the leather canvas so the lacing will cover them nicely and tightly. Is there anyway to get the lace closer together? Does it depend how I space the lacing slits? I will always be my toughest critic but I am very happy with how "Buddy" turned out. Like I said before, I've taken notes on things that I will change or improve on in the next project. Feedback is welcomed. Happy crafting! Brett C.

Well, actually, there is a sixth one that I don't have a picture of. I just finished making a batch of five masks that I'm really pleased with. I can see a huge difference between them, and my earlier masks...even the one I made last month! I don't have pictures of the new masks yet. Most of them are flower-themed, so my partner-in-crime and I are going to do a photoshoot near flowers hopefully tomorrow if the weather cooperates and the filming they are doing in our neighborhood doesn't get in the way. Until then, I thought I would post my earlier masks! They're made from tooling leather of various weights, and most are painted with acrylics. (Sorry for my face in one of them; I don't have a picture of just the mask yet). Most of them were made for our yearly themed Halloween parties. I need to make this bag out of tooling leather: https://www.etsy.com/listing/124414532/oil-tanned-distressed-metallic-leather?ref=shop_home_feat I wasn't sure if I should buy a 2-3oz or 3-4 oz. Im using a sewing machine not sewing by hand. Also can I moisten the leather a little to make it more pliable before I sew it? I haven't worked with tooling leather before. I would definitely appreciate all opinions! Thanks!!
