I jumped in with both feet

Recommended Posts

I just recently began sewing leather and trying to get creative with a few designs for wallets and other items. In trying to speed things up and go to a different level I purchased a 80 watt Monoport Laser and cooler. I plan on cutting and engraving my products. I certainly understand the learning curve, but does anyone have similar machine and how well does it work? Thanks, ASW27

I don't have your laser/make-model but my CO2 Omtech will engrave leather. Although I haven't done leather many folks have done it. You will get "dead animal" smell so be careful where your laser

exhaust goes. Many hours experimenting with settings. Be patient and only change one little item at a time so you know what the difference accomplishes and make many notes of what you done with the results.

Begin with fairly moderate speed settings as well as low power. You will be amazed at what you can do.

Thanks, I will be taking small steps while learning about the machine and Lightburn software. I am hoping to get creative with my patterns and eliminate cutting time. Thanks, Bob

please watch your water temp as the chiller you have will just cool to room temp its not a real chiller. the 500 is a real chiller and will cool the water. You don't want your water getting over 75*F and to be honest 65 to 70 is a much better operating temp. To warm water will shorten your tube life.
