Finished the twins ball and powder 1863. Nope not identical twins, but twins never the less.20220901_193313_copy_1209x1612_1.thumb.jpg.483de7a7be72121424263167825af30b.jpg

All I can say, is . . .  WoW!   :notworthy:

There must be a lot of very careful work in them

In the top photo one holster has its skirt out of the way. What way have you got the skirt loop affixed that you can do that?

Fredk, this is how I did it. I used copper rivets. Chuck I thought it was ball and powder.

Bert03241 it does seem to be Cap and Ball or Black Powder and Ball. Either way I was wrong...haha. Like this is a first

Yep, the common terminology is cap and ball.

That is very, very nice work indeed! The carving is what I was trying to achieve on my first attempt at carving a holster (and didn't quite get there).

I would call that firearm 'cap & ball' and I associate 'powder & ball ' with a flintlock firearm

Nice work this is just opinion I think the black in the back round was really not necessary it's a very stark contrast which makes your eyes look at what parts are dark and what parts are not then it starts to look inconsistent it makes me think of a beautiful woman with bright red lipstick and very heavy black eye liner she just don't need it but all that said you did a beautiful job .

Samalan, I do agree. It looked just fine before. My brain said you can make it nicer. No reason for black, lesson learned. Thanks

So the twins have a cousin in the Bowie? It's nice too.

This is the first time I have ever heard cap and ball guns referred to as ball and powder but will be the first to admit I haven't heard everything.
