Made this small handbag out of 5 OZ.  Buttero leather.

Completely saddle stitched  6 SPI .8 tiger thread.

The body of the and gussets are all one piece.

I was able to use the cutoffs otherwise they would have bee wasted.

Strap is Horween Dublin leather.

Latch in a LOXX connector.

Holds a cell phone and wallet nicely.

That is a smart looking bag.  Well done!  I really like the flap closure and decorative piece.

PastorBob,

The drawing shows the cut out dimensions. It required a fairly large piece of leather. The cut out portions were used for other projects and to double the flap thickness. If you can't use the cut offs then this can waist leather.

The second photo shows another briefcase with the same gusset type. On this case I only extended the lower gusset a few inches so there would not be so much waste. I then pieced the gusset to extend up the sides. The cut off pieces were used to extend the gusset and connect the latch.

Hope this helps.

Also I punched a small hole first before I cut those inside corners on the gussets.
