I need to report a scam, I was scammed out of $800.00 usd from a person that was refered to me by a member (gregbent31)

I placed a add in the wanted section of this network looking for a double edge leather belt painting machine.

i got a message from  gregbent31 saying he knew this person and he had the machine i was looking for.

He gave me his email info jaguartravelcorp@gmail.com. we made contact and work out a price, $800 (just for the head) including shipping .

I sent the payment western union as requested and then was given a fraudulent shipping number. Then no correspondence.

He says his name was Brian Sullivan?

I want to bring this to your attention and protect other members!

a. sorry to hear you got done

b. it reads that your beef is with a person not on this forum, someone who was referred to you by a forum member. the forum member wasn't the one who directly took your money

c. I understand your anger but your posting this in every section is making you into a troll. I think you've posted the same thing about 18 times now. Once or at most twice is sufficient

Thank you bringing this sad situation of being scammed to everyone's attention. Everyone needs to be cautious these days. Being a bit paranoid maybe a healthy thing.

Frodo, you beat me to it.  First thing I'd do is contact them with the specifics.  As far as reporting on this forum, there is certainly no need to post a "scam alert" in so many sections.  That, and the fact that the OP only has made one other post in all the time they have been a member here brings the whole situation into question.  And that's a shame.

And if it was a scam, it is of limited nature and not something that we all need to be overly concerned about.  Just my opinion.

Any transaction that doesn't "feel right" or requires payment options that are irregular (I mean who uses Western Union for this sort of thing nowadays?) would give me pause.

gregbent31 has never posted anything to LW.  It would appear that his purpose in joining was to initiate this scam, and maybe had intentions of more scams.  Hard to say. He joined just before the scam started.  Hadn't been back until yesterday when he was tagged and asked to followup with DOM.  I have blocked him from posting anything.  This is a case that should be reported to the Attorneys General for the states in which this scam took place.  This appears to be a case of Wire Fraud, and should be investigated as such.  It is up to the person scammed to make the report.  When it crosses state lines, it also becomes an FBI case.
