Hat peg

Recommended Posts

and it actually works . Kind of cheesy I know but I wear hats and  now I can have hat pegs in every room  . I had a little fun with this one but a fellow could do some nice tooling and they would look cooler .

Well, that's different. If you're a shooter perhaps you could use a brass cartridge case (dummy round) for the peg?;)

Love the Pinocchio idea and your Pinocchio face is really nice.

The first ( all leather one )  was  meant mostly for fun hence Pinocchio  and  I was surprised when it worked .  A little too much skiving and wet molding  for what it does so here is version 2.. I will make several to place around the house for convenience ,

Wool dauber cut and bent ,  couple of whip stitches  ..... much quicker and  looks better imo .

The last one is obviously a lot more work but looks very classy. :specool: The second one looks cheap and nasty (stamping is ok, but the wire.....not so much).

The wire one looks like an old fashioned paper bills spike for a desk. The last one looks better.

I prefer a large area on the end of the arm for my hats to hang on. You used to get special hat hanging hooks which had a big ball on the end

A table tennis ball with a slot cut in it slipped over that arm would do the job. The t-t ball could be spray painted before fitting. It helps stop a crease or dinge forming in the hat material

Old style hat hook;

Not as much work as the Pinocchio ( skiving and wet forming ) but you are right about the looks . Good news is it didn't  take much to convert it .IMG_2062.thumb.JPG.4bfe8efb2f0177c55d4b3cb61b2a0cb0.JPG

@fredk  I remember my father had hooks like the one you posted .

 I like to hang my hats but I have heard it  is best to lay them crown down on a flat surface , I don't know  .
