DieselTech Report post Posted October 7 Looks nice! You did a great job making that bag. Very Classy!
TomE Report post Posted October 7 That bag is a work of art! I particularly like the handle, and the contrasting piping is lovely. Takes time to become known but there is a demand for such high quality work and they will find you.
mooreleatherworking Report post Posted October 7 Thanks guys. I want to do another one in brass. I have all the hardware. I was having some luck finding customers who want belts but it takes me so long to make what I want to make that it's not worth my time. I will upload a belt here soon that I am working on. It's turning out really nice. It's a stitched belt that will take me close to 15 hours. I am really discouraged right now as I had to close down my studio that I was building and am in the process of moving everything into my apartment. I am not finding the right customers but I am also just a little bit too slow...
DieselTech Report post Posted October 7 Good work, takes time. 15 hours in a belt, I usually have more time than that.. It seems belts, wallets, knife sheaths, & holsters seem to be my money makers. Or should I say my hot sellers. It seems to me, that different leather items may be hot sellers in 1 area & not the next area. Like leather items are regional so to speak. Alternatively, fish it past an established small shop already selling luxury items. Commit to making no more than 100 of this exclusive design and stamp a serial number on it. Goldshot Ron Report post Posted October 7 That bag does look ready nice. Unfortunately, I cannot offer any advice on marketing. I would recommend, if you do not already subscribe, signing up for the magazine "illume". It used to be called ShopTalk. There is always an article in there that introduces new artisans and businesses. Maybe it would give you some ideas. I hear you though, making belts does not cover the costs. YinTx Report post Posted 15 hours ago Your bag is really nice. Where did you get the hardware? I was debating getting some off of a wrecked bag...
