I didn't think this attachment through. I need to attach the strap on the picture to the patch. There will be 2 more of the same at the other end. These suspenders have a single strap on the back and 2 in front.

I could lay the patch on the strap and sew it, but that gets really thick. I just can't visualize a solution that doesn't look clunky.

Thanks for any ideas.

I used two rivets on each strap; they are about ten years old now.  If it seems too thick skive down the attachment areas.

The first pair I made I stitched all around 'cos that's what I thought you did (plus it looked very neat and tidy). It took a while but the inevitable happened and one strap tore across the stitch line. How did they make them in ye olde days?

Hmmm... This is about 8 or 9 ounce leather. I think a bleed knot would be hard. But I like the idea. Definitely going to think. Thanks.

It is too thick but maybe I could skive the flesh side and put the straps on top as you show.

I meant that the bleed knot should be made from something thinner. Maybe a better word is lacing. Like the back belt on a set of chaps. 🙂

So, here's where I ended up. Narrowed them down, skived them, then glued and sewed a stitch line.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts.

I'm still trying to figure out how to incorporate bleed knots into suspenders ...😎
