Selling used tools and machines

Hi, my Dad (a keen leather worker) sadly passed away recently, we are looking for a good home for all his equipment, if anyone is interested in taking a look please message me, it’s all at his address in leicester. Any advice on where to sell it would also be welcome.

If you don't have any experience with leatherwork yourself, I suggest you try and find someone who does who can help you sort out his tools and price them. 

The older (Craft tool brand) leather stamps are often worth more than the newer ones because they are better made. 

This website has a forum for buying and selling leatherworking tools. Once you get things sorted, I think it would be a good place to post his tools.

Posting online is the best way to find people who are into the hobby and will give you a fair price. Other venues have no clue as to what they are worth. I once bought over a hundred leather working stamps at a pawn shop for a ridiculously low price ($30?? - I've forgotten) Each of these stamps would have been worth approximately $10 new.

Pinning down your location would help with advice and interest. Are you in Leicester in the UK, Massachusetts, or North Carolina? Pictures always help - even a group picture or pictures of the tools and pictures of the machines give us more to go on. Be aware that pictures need to be sized down pretty small for this forum.

we are trying to sell my late fathers tools, he has a whole range of equipment that needs to go, could anybody interested, who is commutable to leicester area, let me know if they are interested in having a look. Also if anyone has and info/advice on where might be the best place to advertise this, that would be greatly welcomed.

You mentioned this previously, here:

In that thread you were asked which "Leicester". Your IP is in the UK, so that tells us where you are.

Listing them here would be in our Marketplace section and would require listing individual or sets of tools with prices, shipping info and such.

I suppose you could take a lot of pictures and just set a price, to be picked up in your location. Not ideal but it could otherwise be a big job, depending. We'd have to see if there's an appropriate section.

I'd suggest you contact Le Prevo in Newcastle. Even tho they don't deal in 2nd hand tools (afaik) they might have contacts
