Hey y’all,

just trying to see if anyone here has made a 3D printed wet mold and if you can share any advice. Just got a Bambu A1 and want to up my leather game with some pistol magazine pouches and other pouches, but not sure how to get the setting right for the 2 piece mold. Any advice will help!

I can't help much with printer settings, but keep this in mind; wet leather will register the faintest marks, even slight fingernail dings while handling it wet.  The layer lines so common on 3D printed objects might just show up in the final product.  If you can, set it for as smooth a print as you can.  You might even want to fine sand the side of the mold that fits against the grain of the leather.

When I cut wooden molds, I cut a gap of about 1/4 inch between the 2 parts. so the leather fits without too much binding.  Work whatever gap you choose into your model.

Even through I have a Bambu (X1 Carbon) my suggestion is get the smoothest textured plate that you can get, keep the plate clean even from oils off your hands, push the compression along with the nozzle temperature setting to the limit and buy good quality filament. As my machine is one of the first released it is open source machines meaning I am not bound to the newer requirements that require use of "cloud" services and limited access to third-party tools like Slicers, lack of being able to determine when and if firmware upgrades are installed.

So any setting I have will probably be of little or no use to your machine.

Would I buy another Bambu machine with their new restrictions, probably not.

kgg
