Members skibaron84 Posted May 5 Members Report Posted May 5 I have a Techsew 5100 that I use occasionally for personal leatherwork projects, although I got the machine to hopefully advance my hobby into a serious profession. The main reason for the intermittent use is the stitches look less uniform and the thread would end up slightly frayed, as opposed to hand stitching. I typically only pull it out for gussets on my larger bags, or any other sewing that would not be showcased on the piece. I decided to conduct preventative maintenance on the machine and copied the steps on every Youtube video I could find related to the Techsew 5100: Plates and Presser Feet (feed dog, needle, hook, shuttle, run) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxPisZzDqzs Bobbin Winder Adjustment for Cobra Class 4 - EPISODE 28 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osuGEGoQkXA Suttle and Race https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AvUvm_aeHo&t=289s Stitch formation and reverse thread snags https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgxaZ_A3VXE Adjusting Tension on Cobra Class 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d24Rsm7pZT8 Oiling the Cobra Class 4 Sewing Machine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXbPqELaGiQ In the process, I discovered that my needle was right-aligned and rubbing against the shuttle hook. This would cause jams and the thread to fray that would frustrate me away from using the machine. Has anyone else had this problem, and what is your recommended fix? @Techsew Ron I emailed the company and waiting to hear back. Thank you for any help you all can provide! This forum has been a huge help over the years getting a new leatherworker into the hobby, and I hope to become experienced enough some day to give back with my knowledge. Quote
Members skibaron84 Posted May 5 Author Members Report Posted May 5 Thank you so much! That is exactly what I need. I can't wait to get home and make the adjustments. I rely so much on Youtube for instruction, that I completely overlooked the technical manual. I greatly appreciate your help. Quote
