Looking for “glove tanned” leather and binding attachment

I just started repairing and restoring handbags and I will be working with Coach bags a lot. What is the closest leather I will find like they used on their vintage bags?

I also have a consew 227 and will need a raw edge binding attachment for it. What attachment would you guys recommend to get my machine set up?

Post this in leather sewing machines.  Much more likely to get good replies from the machine guys there.

If you have a table top attachment you could with a slight modification to the table top use the standard flatbed inline binders which maybe a more cost effective solution.

Yes I have a table I put up for sewing flat, but I think I like the right angle binder idea better. Im going to do some searching tomorrow and decide what all I need to get it going.

Many of the high end bags use specialized terms to describe their materials. Most of the time it's just marketing to make their products sound more expensive. I remember car commercials for a Chrysler that boasted Corinthian leather. It was just a marketing term, it was nice leather but there was nothing "Corinthian" about it. For the Coach bag glovetanned leather is the same thing, a marketing term. Glove tanned leather is leather that is tanned the same way a baseball glove is tanned. Nothing fancy just marketing lol.

In my searches I did find companies that sells "Glove tanned" leather but I don't know if it's the same/similar to what Coach uses.

@BlackDragonYeah I know they do that lol! That is why I put glove tanned in quotation marks. They kill me with that. But I still don’t know which leather out there is a good match for it. Thanks for your comment and I will look at those links!
