Take up lever replacement

Hello. I have an old industrial singer 211g166, the thread hole of the take up lever broke off and I found a replacement but I am not sure where to even begin to remove it to replace. Can anyone help? Or am I best off trying a sewing machine shop. Thanks!

Yes please upload some close-up photos with the left end cap removed. We need shots from the left side and from the top.

Most folks around these parts don't call those sewing machine mechanic guys.  I'd guess you're the same sort or you wouldn't be here ... 

Friquant posted the service manual above. Probably all you need.  I'm definitely looking forward to learning.

I wonder how close the 211 is to the 111 for this job? Scads of 111 videos out there.

@friquant I appreciate your time as well here are those pictures.  (Original posting only gave me option to attach a link lol) I have no trouble really just “taking everything apart” obviously it can be disassembled one one way or another. Just figured it doesn’t hurt to ask if anyone knows a correct and efficient way to go about it and what to consider timing and tension wise once replaced if I do have to go the route of taking everything apart

I suspect you will need to take the rock frame out. That requires a couple other things to come out first. I'd start by removing the needle and both presser feet. Then remove these three pieces.

 

Send us more photos once you have the rock frame out.

sorry for delay I was out of town for a bit. 
back home now and I was able to “figure it out” got carried away and forgot to take pictures but I’ll try to explain the process for everyone and anyone that ever comes across this post in hope to help another in my situation:)

As you said @friquant I removed the 3 pieces you pointed out (removal of the oil wick tubing on the rock frame made that a little easier to come out but probably not necessary). The whole rock frame assembly with needle bar and vibrating presser bar (I couldn’t figure out how to remove those separately) was able to wiggle out with a little bit of finesse. From there the take up lever was exposed. And was only held in by another wick tube and with some light prying I was able to pull that out, sadly sacrificing the rope wick running through it from a large opening on the top. the take up lever was now able to slide out from the top. 
all in all not a difficult process and I’m glad I know now and this thread will hopefully help others in the future. I’ll return to this thread once I get a new lever and everything back together to share how it turns out. Thanks for everything!
