On smallish things, holsters and such, wetting the piece and then dip dying it does a pretty good job. I really only need enough dye in the wide, shallow container to lay the face I want to dye in. I can recover what I don't use. I like the results spraying can achieve but I have zero interest in maintaining a sprayer.
