Folded straps with pointed end (garment leather)

I’m trying to make these for a bustier top, and I have them in mind for future projects. I’ve found one YouTube short tutorial and one template/pattern so far. The tutorial (Kasias leather school) is ingenious, but the point is pretty bulky. Even with REALLY thin leather. The template I just can’t seem to make work. I’ve fooled around with it a bit and I just haven’t had any success yet. I’ll paste what I’ve found so far below. Does anyone have any tips or know any alternate techniques?

I sew leather garments, not my primary thing at the moment but it’s a thing I do. That is a really cool trick Kasia shows, and one I’ll have to remember. That leather she’s using has to be about 1-1.5oz I think. It’s super thin! I mostly work with 3-4oz leather for my garment work, and when I need really nice points I have to skive the leather down to about a 1oz thickness (or thereabouts) to get anything with a sharp or even sharp-ish point that looks good. TBH, I generally try to avoid having to do sharp points in garment leather because it’s frustrating, lol. I also generally prefer straps of veg-tan for strength, but I get that that isn’t an option in every application. Kasia’s trick is definitely one I need to try out later though!

I’m also going to trace off your template there and toy with it. We’ll see how that goes. 

EDIT: I added the tracing, but I haven’t tried it out yet. Just thought others might want to toy with it too.

Interesting design. I think I'll experiment with that too; I might adjust the angles a bit though, i like my points to be sharper than 90°.

The strap points I've made so far were either veg tan/harness leather, which doesn't need folding; or chrome tan single-strap-double-layer. Somewhat like the three-layer variant above, but without doubling down on the underside. I do add interfacing tape to prevent stretching, but it's mostly for low-strength applications. As for the points, I simply cut them and painted the edges.

An alternative for the two-layer with bound edge strap option drawn above would be to skive the edges to half thickness for double the width of the fold and place the backing leather on top of the fold. Skiving the fold ensures that folding doesn't make your strap thicker. The backing could be at full thickness (with the resulting strap being double thickness accross the width), or also skived. A bell skiver would be recommended though; I'd never start skiving thin chrome tan manually.
