Members Ornyal Posted August 3 Members Report Posted August 3 Hi, I hope you are all having a wonderful day! I was wondering if anyone here has done or seen a comparison between different edge paints? I currently work for a famous french company (starts with an H...), and we use Stahl, but I can't find it anywhere and I'd like to keep leatherworking as a side hobby. I'm looking for infos regarding the need or not to iron the pain, the durability etc... Informations on uniters, fenice, giordani, eco flo, could be a good start and I'm planning on looking into each of those individually, but if someone has already done this job I am very interested! Otherwise, I'll probably report here when I'm done with my benchmark Cheers, Quote
alfredleatherworks Posted August 4 Report Posted August 4 Apparently, EcoFlow EdgeFlex is actually produced by Fenice. My local shop recently mentioned they’re going to be using the Fenice label sometime soon instead of re-labeling it with the Tandy brand label. Apparently, quite a few “Tandy brand” products are just re-branded from companies like Fenice, Fiebings, and a few others, and they (Tandy) are going to stop re-labeling these products and using the original manufacturer’s labels. Having used “EdgeFlex”, I’ve apparently used the Fenice edge paint products without knowing it. I’ve also used Fiebings Edge Kote, and honestly I like them about equally. I’ve also used Angelus leather paint as an edge paint with good success. I’m not currently using edge paint much because I mostly burnish my veg-tan edges and skive and roll my chrome-tan edges. However, I’m starting to explore this more too, and I’d love to see what others here have to say about the different product options. Members mike02130 Posted Thursday at 05:04 PM Members Report Posted Thursday at 05:04 PM I use Giardini Maxmatt primer. It's a thick primer that fills any gaps and valleys and dries to a tough finish. I don't like their paints, though. I use Uniters' edge paint. I can't find Stahl in the USA. Hmm, if I worked for your H company, they may find some of their paint missing. Quote @mike02130 Instagram
