Projects for children

Hi,

I'm a woodworker of over 50 years, but I'm brand new to leather working. I'm trying to help our grandson find some new interests that we can do together .   I was thinking of a project that I could begin for him like the old Tandy Leather 3 legged  Bar-B-Que stool .  I can turn the legs and make the hardware and various leather pieces but I'm unsure of the best way to lace the triangular seat parts and would really appreciate some guidance or links .  There would be a lot of stress in the leg pockets so I would hope that you could assist in recommending a lacing technique that is best for this situation and would also look nice.

I made one a long time ago ,I just made pockets and dbl stiched them ,still holding up a few years later.

Tandy has a free plan for these in their library. 

Theirs shows  leather lace to hold the pockets.  The use of glue isn't mentioned, but I would glue as well as stitching.Should be more than adequate.
