I have a bag I bought (I think) at Tandy, and the problem I have is when I mushroom the post down on the dome cap, it deforms the cap in the little mandril. See pic. Can you recommend a snap with a cap that won't deform like this? Quote
Members DeWayne Hayes Posted September 3 Author Members Report Posted September 3 Never mind folks, I picked up some snaps at Tandy and, on the advice of the lady there, pre-split the shaft before mushrooming it. Got some matte black snaps and they worked great. Quote
Digit Posted yesterday at 01:13 PM Report Posted yesterday at 01:13 PM The only time I ever get something remotely similar is when I set my 13mm double capped rivets using a tool for 15mm caps on one side and that's because the curvature of the 15mm dome is flatter than that of 13mm domes. If you use a tool that has the exact same curvature as your cap, the cap should never get deformed, simply because there is no space for the cap to deform into. In my case I know what's causing the problem and I ensure the flattened cap will be on the less visible side of the leather. Quote
