Hi, All.

I have made it for test, and probably I use in one of projects. Used spirit dye for the background, one coat Neatsfoot Oil, two coats Tan Kote, Fiebing ` s antique and atop again Tan Kote. After that one coat Aussie Leather Conditioner. Each time I allowed to it to dry days if it is necessary, but in the end it did not become waterproof, there are divorces.

I will be glad to comments and any help.

It turned out looking pretty nice Nomad. I hope that somebody can help you with the "waterproof" finish problem.

The only finish that I know of that is water proof is a lacquer based finish. The acrylic finishes are just water resistant and the tan kotes are not really either its just a finish. I know from experience that the acrylic finishes will wipe off with enough moister. The spray on finishes you can buy are water proof but I have had these crack on me. A waxy finish will also be water resistant but I haven't used these so I can not tell you how well they work. One thing I am going to try is a tan kote to get the look then finish that with Saddle Lac for water resistance. I was told if you use a spray on finish to spray it on in thin layers and let each layer completely dry before spraying on a second layer to stop the cracking.
