Hi Folks,

There are pics of the second seat I´ve made.

Please, critique.

The braid looks good n tight. Also the way you have the top rolled over the edges so the riders legs don't rub on the braid...that's the right way. Thats the good stuff. The one bad thing I can see is the top puckered. Unless it's a flat like solo seat I always use 3M super 77 adhesive to hold the top in place. Hope this helps ya out.

Thanks for the tip... I just figured out about the adhesive AFTER I finish this one... On the next, I'm sure that I will use this advice.

When using adhesive on the top ...this is how I do it for perfect alignment. Make sure you mark a center line on the flesh side of the leather top, & the foam. Fit the leather on the foam aligning the marks. Then lift up the front gently as not to move the rear part & spray adhesive on both the leather & the foam. Now carefully lower it down with the marks aligned. Smooth & press...repeat on the rear half.

I learned this the hard way. Once the leather & foam are sprayed with adhesive and they touch even so slightly you can ruin the foam if you see yer not centered & try to realign. I imagine this has been a problem for a lot of seatmakers at one time or another. A couple of years ago I seen a prominent seat maker on this site screw the pooch that way.

Looks good, the puckering could be done a whole different way, The main reason i don't like stitching on any of our personal seats is; I was very impatient at the time of the begining of my leather working self taught times. This way i could get it done faster to do a whole lot of nothing but fast. Since i taught myself how to leather work I did not know how to line things up correctly and seats would turn out crooked, all because i had some stitching to line up. I always get my seats done up to the foam then cut out one piece of leather for a seamless stitchless seat. after I cut the one piece out then i get the whole piece very wet and start the mold process, I always think like kneeding bread, or pizza dough boy. This process can be done several ways, one is constant kneeding, the other is wet of course, and apply to seat and use towels along with bungy cords to let mold the very slow way. The slow way could take about three days of opening rewetting trimming and re bungying. the other way is my favorite, my ADHD allows me to do this along with many other things that most people would not even consider doing/trying. Every time someone asks about my items of mine and I reply, they always ask ...... are you on drugs? I always admit to being on frenchs mustard, which always makes them leave quick. The best example is my s,b,&f prizm gas tank, when I got it it had no cap, quarter inch of paint and deep ncracks in this paint. It looked as if it had been painted without a cap, making a very huge amount of build up in the whole tank. I don't like to use the chemicals that clean tanks, theymake the metal have flash rust , so I used about 13 different wire brushes for about five hours to remove all the build up and use on my longest chop of all, hence making most people think I am too much, which i am
