I Hate Black ...

This one doesn't belong in the "show off" section, and I couldn't find a "WHY did I do it section (how didn't seem right, either). This one might get laced, might get replaced. I really hate black. Not really big on uploading pics, but this one drove me nuts enough to complain. No tooling on this one ... just paint ... black dye ... black only. Did I mention that I hate black? #$#**%)!!

Not really my thing, either, but you give 'em what they want (within reason).

The "Diamond Plate" is actually a very cool idea! And the shadowed letters look great...

Aw, don't hate the black. It really does look good. I would want something with a bit more jazz, but it looks good.

JLS, I agree, black really isn't very attractive when used staight from the jar, tube, or bottle. Try instead mixing your own black. Use darker values of blue, red and green. Add more or less of one to get a "black" that is cool or warm.

In other words: more green the cooler the black; more red the warmer the black. You might even mix a little dark brown with your black as well if that's what you have on hand.

This will give your blacks more depth and character. I think you will see the difference and develop a whole new relationship with black.

BTW. I think your piece looks great! Love the diamond plate.

It's official, I'm an idiot

I mix oranges, and purples, and lots of shades of greens ... never occurred to me to "blend" the black (doh!)
