hey gang

just finished up the gullet and got pics and also wanted to note befor anyone points it out in further pics

im calling this my "saddle of many Leather" due to the fact im not useing all on hide most of it is gonna be out of the scrap bins as skirting

comes up LOL

I don't know much about saddles, but from what I can see it looks pretty good to me. One question though, the edges underneath look as though they touch the horse, should they be skived to have a smoother transition?

You keep adding leather to that thing, it's gonna git so heavy a fella's gotta git someone strong as a horse ta carry it.

Seriously, I got a flyer from Tandy about cheap skirting leather. $75/hide, you kin pick from 13 oz or a lighter 10/12 oz. I had to go that way anyway, so I picked up on o' each. Prob'ly a good thing I went and picked it out -- the leather I got was in the "OK" range, and some of the hides were a bit "rough". Looks like it'll tool okay, just some marks and such. If'n a fella was learning saddle makins, might be money well spent. Fella wanted a real PURDY saddle might use this just for the pieces not seen
