As to the boat anchor comment, we could interpret that as a negative against 16s Am I right on that? Myself, I learned on a 16 and had I been able find one when I struck out on my own, I wouldn't have looked any further. As it was that was when Union Locks were among the very few being manufactured new (parts, accessories readily available) so that's where I stopped looking 40 years ago and today 441 clones might be where I was shopping.
