Looking For A Good Source For Thicker Pig/boar Skins

The title says it all really.

I'm looking for top grain pigskins or boarskins that aren't sueded and are thicker than lining weight. Anywhere between 2-6oz would be fine, veg-tan or chrome would be workable (although I'd prefer veg-tan).

I've been searching the internet and can find jackets/purses so I KNOW it's out there somewhere, and occasionally find the odd piece on eBay, but am looking for a consistent source.

I'm interested in the same thing. Did you find anything? I've seen that companies like Russell Mocassins use it for their soles, so I imagine they have a reliable source.

I think that you will find that the only sources for those types of materials are in China/India/Mexico. The majority of pig leather is split and used in automotive/furniture and garmet industries, You might speak with these folks and maybe they could point you in the right direction but even their pigskin is not the weight you are looking for nor is is Veg/Chrome tanned. http://www.brettunsvillage.com/leather/sides.htm

Wow, this was from way back, lol. If you check out Maverick Leather Company sells boar hide that is from 3-4oz up to 9-10oz. I believe it to all b chrome-tan. Not sure about other suppliers, but this gets you something to work with at least.

EDIT: I also found this source for veg-tan pigskin, but ooohhh is it pricy! ALeatherStore.Com (please note, I can’t vouch for this one, I just found them searching online. Also, their leather seems to be thinner pigskin, but it is veg)
