Thanks everyone. The reins are 43" (one side-86" total) with a 36" romal (without popper). This would be the length for bridal chains, about 54" or 56" would be good if no chains are used. The buttons are pineapple knots over a ring knot.

Brad is a good name but I'm used to Bret. Thanks for the nice comments. I haven't got any work that far east though.

Mom 'o man! That must have taken forever.

Wow, getting all them buttons just alike and perfectly alike is simple amazing.

Holly moly you got my admiration.

Do you have a market for costly items like that up there in Idaho?

Money seems tight here in SOCAL.

Trust me when I say that those are cowboy artwork at its finest. Did you by chance cut your own rawhide lace for those? I love doing rawhide work myself.

Beautiful work! I would love to learn how to braid.

Do you use cores? or are they square?

I've done just enough braiding that I know I'd never be able to make a living at it, or even make any money at it.  I have a ton of respect for the people that can do collector level work, AND get paid for it.  I haven't done much braiding in the last 20 years; kids and making a living took priority.  However I do have two green hides in the freezer, and another two that I processed and cut up a couple years ago.  I just can't turn down the chance to get a hide off a skinny old cow when I have the chance!  Finding the right time to process seems a struggle, either too hot or too cold, very little in between since I've gotten the two that are in my freezer.  It seems like 60-70 degree weather works the best, and dry air, of which we've had none.

Absolutely stunning.  I always say I can teach any munky to tool/carve leather, but this is genuine art!

I do have a market, I'm about a year and a half out on orders.

I do cut all my own materials and my wife processes the hide, 32 this season but now it's to cold. I usually use a core but sometimes do a square braid.

That in and of itself is impressive!  Are you getting hides from local slaughterhouses, or from ranchers?
