Best Place To Get A Makers Mark

Recommended Posts

Wondering who makes the best makers mark. Would really like a steel one, not plastic, and one that will last a long time and not break the bank. Thanks DC

Oops, missed the steel part, my bad, lolInfinity, the best I have ever had/ I currently use a pair of steel stamps inc which are really good stamps but they loused up the handle on both and got really snotty when i contacted them about it. There were posts on this site a couple of years ago on my experience. Infinity is worth the money and they are super good. Ken

He also does one attached to a heat stick (kind of like a soldering iron) for $108.

Infinity- super, super great! Steel Stamps Inc, Very Very good, but discuss the knurling before you order. I didn't and have one I hate the knurling on and have another that is not great, good but not great for me. Impressions are super good on both stamps. Infinity is a bit easier to line up straight but not a lot easier. I would recommend either. HTH Ken

Whats wrong with the plastic ones?

Metal stamps like steel or brass are much more durable than plastic, especially the ones for hammering.

Metal stamps are more durable, but the Delrin plastic stamps will still last years of normal use. Working shops would want metal stamps for all but small batch projects, but hobbiests I think can use use a Delrin stamp easily for some time.

Phillips makes some nice stamps but have to say that the delrin stamps do work very well and I have several that after much use, are not indicating any wear.

One of those preference things, for everyone making all the varied items produced today.

Good luck.

Ray

I had Jeff at Grey Ghost Graphics make one for me, excellent work and great price (even with shipping to Australia).
