Rolled Edges?

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody, does anyone know of a post on here about how to do rolled edges? I'm referring to the edge like on an English chin of a leather halter, or the piece that goes across a set of blinders. I have even seen them on some purse straps. Also I do not have a mechanical creaser, so is it even possible?? Thanks in advance!!

Actually no Trevor. I have attached a pic of a Halter with an English chin. The nose of this one is also rolled like I am referring to. Thanks for the reply Trevor.

I believe what you are looking for can be found in "The Art of Making

Leather Cases" volume 2. Hope this helps.

Hi Andrew. These are thigh straps for my customer about a year ago. The edge is seen on the two pics and the back on this one. Its quite easy to do. Have you tried this Andrew??

I've tried something similar to this. I think it's called a French edge. Same as what you have except you sew over the rolled edge instead of next to it. I've only done it when The back isn't shown though. Your backs are nicely done with the covering piece of leather. Very clean.

Well, Trevor, even if OP doesn't want to know how you make those edges -- rolled, rounded, or whatever you want to call them -- I do.

Thanks,

Michelle
