Adler Cylinder Arm 48-3

Recommended Posts

Hi, First post on the forum, I don't know if its in the right area or not. Great amount of knowledge here and I have leaned a huge volume here, just getting into the leather world, was motor trimming for years and have a Seiko STH-8BL flatbed compound feed machine and works well on leather with the correct needles, but I will require a cylinder arm machine in the near future and have found an old Adler cylinder arm 48-3 but cant find anything about it how old, what size it is, etc. Hoping somebody will have some knowledge of theses machines..........Thanks......Pete gif.gif adler 48-3.jpg 4.45K 7 downloads

The Adler 48 is very similar to the Singer 17 and uses the same shuttle hook as far as I know. The Adler 48 is not a heavy duty machine and has no walking foot. If you are looking for something similar to your Seiko but with cylinder bed you should look for Consew 227, Singer 153 (not all have walking foot), techsew 2700, Pfaff 345 or 335, Cowboy CB227...

The black Adler 48 is probably from the 1940´s - 1950´s

Constabulary,Thanks for the reply, you have given me what I needed and I have an offer of a Consew 227 that I can acquire for $1200 AU that seems a good price so I will probly go for that.....Peter

Sounds good so far but depends on how old it is and what kind of motor it comes with. Some older 227 do not have reverse feed, just for the case it is important for you.
